I’m mixing it up a little for this weeks What I Wore Wednesday to show you a few of my favorite pairings that include flirty summer dresses and some fruity goodness!

Joining the ladies at Kids and Cabernet and Pink and Fabulous for a little Wine Wednesday along with all the weekly fashion blogger linkups you can find here.First off, let me warn you I am not a wine expert!  I typically choose my wine based on how cute I think the label is at the grocery store.  I also know white wine is more for summer but I have just never been much of a white wine drinker.  If the red is too warm or heavy for summer, sometimes I will add a little Fresca to turn it into a wine spritzer.  Bonus you also cut some calories!

Keith & I had a little date night for our anniversary last Friday night and I chose to wear this little black dress.  I love the fabric as it packs perfectly in a suitcase with no wrinkles upon arrival.  I paired with my Stella & Dot Kimberly necklace and these fun shoes.

We dined at Eddie V’s and chose a Malbec.  Lately Malbec has been my favorite red for summer as it seems to be a little lighter than a merlot or cab.
Summer Style

I love, love, love this dress and wish I had ordered it sooner this summer but glad I waited until I scored it 60% off!  Of course it was another excuse to wear my floral wedges so I was all over it.

I think it is a a sweet little dress but also has a little bit of flirt to it.  It reminds me a little of the dresses women may have worn back in the Beaver Clever days all dolled up waiting on their husbands to arrive home for dinner.  I added a thin pink belt and my floral wedges (similar here) to dress it up.

I had an amazing visit with my friend Cindy last night after not seeing each other since April!  Look at this spread she had waiting for me when I arrived.  It was the perfect way to end a summer day on the patio.

Cindy & her husband traveled to Italy last month and the wine they ordered had just arrived.  Bonus points for having a friend with wine straight from Italy!  I’m not sure I have ever had a Toscana wine before but this one was so good.  It was super smooth and we had a hard time not opening a second bottle!

  3. I LOVE THIS POST!!!! How you combined the fashion with the fruity! Well done. So happy you joined us this month for Wino Wednesday. I love Toscana wines. Especially with happy hour treats like your friend prepared. That is exactly what our happy hours look like on the patio or inside when the heat is dreadful. Like now! The black dress is exactly what I would have picked out too. Enjoyed your picks in wine and fashion Shelly.

  4. I love me some good red wine! I can do white but I much much prefer red. There's just something about relaxing with a glass of red.

  7. Both of those outfits are fit for a quuen like you Shelli. I love both dresses, the floral wedges and that first necklace. You remixed that LBD so well. And I love wine, cheese, grapes and bread so that is my kind of easy, relaxed and cheap date. =)

  13. So much fabulousness here! You look amazing in all these. Oh that white dress is so feminine and just makes you smile with sweetness!!! My favorite Summer wines are sparkly and the barefoot pink moscato is on the blog tomorrow as a fav!! How sweet of your friend to make such a yummy spread of goodies for you!! So fun!!
