What’s Up Wednesday + Royally Waiting Linkup
Holly, Katy and I are so glad you are here! We hope you will share some of what’s been going on in your world by linking up with Royally Waiting. I’m also choosing to join Shay and Mel for What’s Up Wednesday because it is seriously one of my favorite linkups every single month!
What We’re Eating
Still working on clean eating with this Fed and Fit Barbacoa. I seriously could eat tacos every day and be perfectly happy. If you haven’t tried jicama tortillas definitely check the fresh food section of your grocery store. I love them especially for 8 calories and less than 2 carbs each! The Fed & Fit: A 28 Day Food & Fitness Plan with tons of recipes is a favorite for me. More realistic with lots of grace for those of us who really want to live a (mostly) clean lifestyle but still want to actually live!
Breakfasts like this make me so happy (minus the busted yolk). Some people feel kale is over rated but I genuinely love it cooked with olive oil and sea salt. I made a huge batch of the barbacoa so having with breakfast was an added bonus!
I shared a few more of my fave clean eating recipes last week for Tasty Tuesday at The Blended Blog!
What I’m Reminiscing About
Two years ago this week was huge for our family and we were so grateful for dreams that come true! So much has happened on Riley’s journey since then and it’s really hard to believe it was only two years. Seeing all the pictures of this special day pop up on my timehop just brought a smile to my face. There is nothing better than a family that supports one another!
What I’m Loving
The Ann Taylor sale is definitely getting my attention right now! How fun are these earrings? Well, they are only $9.99 with the current discount and I will let you know when they arrive if they are as fun as they look! I also snagged this top and these pants.
What We’ve Been Up To
It’s been quite the hodge podge and I’ve been busy driving kids to and from dance, football, baseball and mixing in some volunteering here and there. We are working on Dillon’s learning permit, taking x-rays and prepping for Carly to get braces and staying up way too late every night. A few individual date nights with my kids one on one and one trip to visit my Mamaw. It’s been a busy month, way busier than I really expected it to be!
What I’m Dreading
Nothing again this month…woohoo!
What I’m Working On
Drinking 64 ounces of water every day. I do not really like drinking water and nothing seems to help. Every once in awhile it just tastes amazing and I can down a lot but in general it is not my favorite. This time of year when I’m super busy at work it is worse because I just get distracted and fail to get up to refill. This week I ordered this stainless swig bottle as well as a cheaper thermos bottle which both hold 64 ounces. I filled up at the beginning of the day and filled my glass all day long without having to get up. The water stayed cold and I survived drinking it all. We will see if I can continue! What are your secrets for getting in enough water every day?
What I’m Excited About
Rodan + Fields brought back the Lash Boost + Regimen special! I’ve shown you before my love for lash boost and the increase in lash length but using the reverse regimen to lighten uneven skin tone is also a favorite. Right now bundling one of the regimens with lash boost will score you 20% off. Sign up for perks connect and get an even better deal. Not sure what regimen you would need? Visit the solution tool to see which is right for you or contact me at sjanac69@gmail.com
What I’m Watching/Reading
Y’all, you need to read Year of Yes! It is so positive and uplifting and thought provoking. Did I mention Shonda is funny?! I have gotten so much out of this book and it’s an easy read. Hoping to complete and finish my review asap.
We went to see the new Cars movie last week and I was unimpressed. Maybe I was just tired from the week or maybe it really sucked but I’ll let you judge for yourself.
What I’m Wearing
Loving this off the shoulder top! It seriously is so much cuter in person than it looks online and it comes several great summer colors. I knew I should have grabbed it in black too before it was gone. Of course my leopard wedges never disappoint and while they are several years old I’ve linked a similar pair. You can never go wrong with a fun bag in the summer to add a little extra fun to your outfit!
You can never go wrong with a lightweight sundress in the Texas heat! Give me some great lighting and I just can’t help a selfie!
Swing dress + cold shoulder? Yes, I think I will. I love mixing patterns and floral+stripes+leopard is an easy win if the patterns are right!
What’s better than a pineapple clutch and a super cute maxi skirt? A skirt with pockets!! This skirt is super cute in person and the fabric will be great for summer. I love, love, love these tanks because they are cut a little more forgiving around the midsection. I wore it once and was so incredibly sad to find a hole in it the next day and it is sold out in yellow but still available in red.
I’ve already shown these shorts with a red gingham plaid from our weekend in San Antonio but I’m definitely loving an option for those warmer days with this tank.
What I’m Doing This Weekend
As if you guys even need to wonder anymore…..we will be in Georgetown, TX for more baseball.
What I’m Looking Forward to Next Month
July the kids go to camp which is the highlight of their summer but also a nice break for the adults! Hoping while the kids are away the adults will find a couple of days to play!
Bonus: What’s Your Favorite July 4th Tradition
Fireworks and fun food! I have to work on Monday the 3rd so we will not be going out of town but we typically watch some fireworks and spend some time at Keith’s uncles doing a little fishing with our cousins and eating some BBQ. The kids love festive waffles…or maybe they just really love whipped cream and they may have now outgrown these fun drinks but I LOVE making them. Hmm…maybe I need to make these into adult beverages! The key to the drink is finding 3 drinks with varying levels of sugar. I believe what worked best for me was grabbing the Sobee pina colada, cranberry juice and blue gatorade zero.
What are you waiting on this week? Link up and share what is going on in your life this week!
Ugh! The Water Wagon is dead to me! I’ve got to get back on track! You’ve been a busy girl!
I seriously hate water Laura….I would love a video of what my face looks like when I’m trying to suck it down. 🙁 I honestly don’t even consider this busy anymore…lol…it’s just normal. haha
I want to read the Year of Yes. I’ve seen it advertised before but forgot about it until seeing it again. Currently putting it on my Books to Read list.
Beth it is so good! I am about to settle in this morning and finish it up.
Those earrings are just so much fun. I can’t wait to read your book review I have read four books over the past month so since I am on a roll, I might as well keep going.
4 books!!! You ARE on a roll Beth. So many books..so little time lol.
Great post. I’m looking forward to your Nordstrom sale picks!
The catalog arrived yesterday and I wasn’t as excited as I typically am…..hoping there will be so much more online. 🙂 The shoes are always my very favorite find and I’m trying to promise myself not to buy any more booties!!!!
There’s always room for one more pair of booties- they’re small. 😉😉
Can you be any cuter? I think not! Precious doll with her precious babes! Yes to camp and adult quiet! Luvs ya!
Girl…sending the kids to camp is the BEST! They love it so much it doesn’t make me feel guilty for enjoying my quiet!
Kale is my newest discovery and I have some almost daily! Your breakfast plate is beautiful, too!
Lora, I truly enjoy my kale! Several years ago I would have rolled my eyes at someone eating greens for breakfast but now it is such a favorite.
I’m loving all your outfits! Those Ann Taylor pineapple earrings are so fabulous, I have to get them! Hope you have a fabulous fourth of July!
Amanda @ Cupcake N Dreams
Aren’t they so fun Amanda? I couldn’t resist for that price! Hope you have some fun on the 4th too!
Sure looks like you’ve been busy. I love the off the shoulder top on you! The tacos look so good! I am currently waiting for our first grand baby to arrive. I just received a call from my daughter that she MIGHT be starting labour. Exciting!
Oh my goodness Amy….how exciting!! Can’t wait for an update.
Looks like you’re having a busy, but super fun summer. I’m the same way about drinking water…I just don’t do it, and would always prefer a Diet Coke! The new Cars movie just looked ok, but I think Jack will probably want to see it – more for nostalgia than anything. All those animated movie sequels are getting out of control. I saw they had another Minions movie coming out, and thanked my lucky stars that my kids won’t want to see it. Have a great hump day!
I crave a diet coke every so often but I dropped them for the most part years ago and don’t miss much. Now…I’m addicted to some advocare spark at least once a day. Filling this jug has actually worked 2 days in a row…still having to force it down but I’m at least conscious and making sure I’m chugging all day long.
I love all of your outfits! I love the fun printed shorts with the yellow tank top, and that maxi skirt is so cute. Have a fun weekend watching baseball. I am stealing your waffle idea, my kids would LOVE those!
I’m such a sucker for some themed food! The waffles are SO easy and your kids would love these drinks too.
First – you need to check your time hop – has it only been two years?! The reason I ask is because Carly (and Dillon too!) look like babies in that pic! Why do they have to grow so fast?! And, it’s it too funny that we are both looking forward to camp?! TBarM is the best!!!
Yes, girl! I don’t think CJ has changed that much until I see pictures….she has even changed a ton since last summer!! Camp is the best because it’s something to look forward to for both the kids AND us!
Those tacos look amazing, I NEEEED them in my life.
You would love them!! So delish
Loving the floral, stripe, leopard mix! I need to steal this one asap. 🙂 I started listening to Year of Yes last weekend and I am almost finished. I have truly enjoyed it and Shonda is really funny.
I can only imagine how fun it is to listen to Jennie! I just finished it up this morning and I wanted to dance around my bedroom with her! I have been looking at wireless earbuds trying to decide on a pair….I want to try an audio book asap.
Love all the fun clothes you’re sporting. I just added all the ingredients to my shopping list for the Barbacoa…I’m sold! Drinking water….BLEK!!!! Happy Wednesday!!!
Lisa it is SO good! My intent was to freeze half…but between breakfast and dinner for me & Keith and Riley being home we finished it all off last night. Even Carly Jo loved it.
You look so cute in that blue ON dress! I wore mine the other night for date night… I love that dress so much!
And I’m adding The Year of Yes to my wish list now. I feel like I’m in kind of a funk this year for some reason so I’ve been trying to read uplifting and light things lately.
This book is definitely uplifting and my biggest takeaway has been to make sure I’m working on my own happy ending….not someone elses.
Hi Shelly! Just started following your blog and love that you are local! Where do you find your jicama tortillas?
Welcome Nancy! I buy the jicama tortillas at the tower point HEB…they are in the produce section along the first wall with the zoodles and such.
So many wonderful things happening here! And you know what, I don’t think I’m dreading anything right now either. Life is so good 🙂
Life is definitely good right now for me Whitney! Hope you are having a super week.
Y’all are so busy this summer but it looks like lots of fun! And that hot pink top looks so good on you! Hot pink is your color! You should wear it more often!
MeetTheShaneyfelts
Can you believe I only have 2 things in this color? I never think about it. I seriously wish I would have grabbed this top in black too before it sold out. It is seriously so much prettier in person than it looks online.
Love those earrings- so cute! You have kids hitting milestones all over the place- how are you keeping sane?!?! We actually used to go up to College Station for the 4th of July because we loved the celebration at George Bush Library. A friend just shared an article with a list of all of the new restaurants you all are getting there in the next year- you may have to quit your diet to go enjoy all of the new ones. Piada is so delicious! Have a great afternoon!
Girl….it’s what keeps me sane I think! I never have a chance to get too ingrained in a season because I’m usually living 4 at once haha. I totally have not even heard of Piada….I’ll have to check that out. We are getting all kinds of stuff here…this town is growing crazy fast and now there’s this crazy rumor they are going to tear down NG…I’ll believe it when I see it.
Gahhh you are gorgeous. I need that book and those earrings, send ’em over! XO
You are sweet friend! And I will totally mail you this book…..I was NOT impressed with the quality of the binding as it started falling apart the first day but if you don’t mind that and my highlighting it’s yours! Message me your address. 🙂
Love all your outfits, and those earrings are so fun. i’m terrible about drinking water – I always start out well and then forget as the day goes on!
Well….I’m only 2 days in but so far having a jug ready on my desk with cold water has definitely helped me remember to drink.
I am at my Happy Place…aka..our beach home in Pismo Beach and I am LOVING these cooler temps! Being able to walk the beach every day and seeing the ocean view from my family room makes me a happy lady! I am waiting for my sweet hubby to hurry and finish his end of the year stuff (we run July- june) and hurry over to me and begin our fun 4th of july with our besties! Golf, wine, fire pit time and friends. Life is better at the beach! Happy 4th my friend!!!
Life is definitely better at the beach Kim! Wishing I was sipping coffee and watching a sunrise about now!
Don’t you love Year of Yes! I read it last year and it’s one of my favorite non-fiction books. I included the necklace that goes with those pineapple earrings in my newsletter. And then I picked up that same necklace and a couple others from the sale for my girlfriend’s summer birthdays. Don’t know why I don’t think to look at the Ann Taylor accessories more often!
Yes, Cathy!! I literally just finished reading about 10 minutes ago and I seriously wanted to get up and dance around my bedroom with her. So inspiring and just really a great read! I get overwhelmed with accessories so I rarely look for them….but these jumped out and when I saw $9.99 I couldn’t resist!! Now I’m kicking myself for not ordering a few pair for gifts.
Looks like you are having a wonderful summer so far! I really want to read Year of Yes now. Love all of your outfits, especially the pink cold shoulder top with those amazing sleeves!
