What’s Up Wednesday – October
Happy Halloween friends! Today should be interesting here in Texas as a strong cold front is on the way and the forecast has been a little spooky come trick or treat time. What We’re Eating this Week
Beef and broccoli was on the menu this week and yesterday I shared the recipe plus 2 other recipes I’ve found delicious using stew meat. Of course as the temps cool off a hearty beef stew is a perfect option too and we did have that last week as well. If you are looking for some new options check out 3 simple stew meat recipes. 
Of course when leftovers run out and I need an easy option for lunch, I’m grabbing these turkey rollups. Easy, delicious and healthy is always a good combo for me.
What I’m Reminiscing About
Of course it’s hard to not reminisce about these little pumpkins! We didn’t make it to the pumpkin patch this year for the first time in forever and I’m kind of sad about it.
What We’ve Been Up To
Let’s just say October did not disappoint! This month was so incredible full of celebrations, time with friends and so much fun.
The month started with a trip to Nashville to meet up with Chrissy, Laura, Kellyann, Andrea and Lisa. We have not quit talking since! Our fave mode of communication since returning has been the Marco Polo app and we crap each other up ever day.
In the spirit of meeting up with other bloggers, I was also excited to meet this sweet lady for lunch on my way home from Houston this month! Tanya and I have been following each other pretty much since I began blogging. We had only met one other time in person but this sweet time together over lunch was so fun. It’s amazing to sit down with someone and feel so comfortable when you really haven’t known them in person but this friendship is easy!
I celebrated my 49th birthday this month! Jordan turned 28, Riley turned 25 and Keith turned 44 this month too! It is always a huge month full of birthday celebrations. We ate alot of good food because, well, it’s our fave way to celebrate! Evidently I was into the company too because there are no pictures of all us chowing down.
These girls helped me celebrate my birthday and allegedly we took a two hour lunch because when you go forever without seeing your besties you have ALOT to say!
And this girl has been with me for almost half of my life!! We ended my birthday weekend with some drinks in the car outside the movie theatre before seeing A Star is Born.
What I’m Dreading
The time change! Well, I don’t exactly dread the actual change because somehow I do feel like my body needs the rest and when the darkness comes early I seem to be able to shut down faster. However, if you are a blogger you understand the time change makes taking pictures SO MUCH HARDER.
What I’m Working On
Ramping up my “newsletter”. Right now if you are subscribing you will find it’s nothing more than a feed of all my posts. My readers definitely deserve MORE! Hopefully I will have some time soon to do some studying up on Mailchimp tutorials and come up with a better layout with better content! If any of you blogger friends have any suggestions on where I should be grabbing tutorials from please let me know!
What I’m Excited About
Do you see these sweet little faces? This picture is from 2009….2009 y’all was the last family vacation we have taken when all 6 of us were able to be together! My littles have the entire week of Thanksgiving off for the first time ever and we are heading back to Florida for some lazy beach time together. I’m so excited I can hardly stand it!
Listen, round up your kids and take the vacations! When they graduate from high school and start adulting it becomes a real challenge to plan a vacation. My other advice is just make a decision and book it….stop asking everyone where they want to go.
What I’m Watching/Reading
Thank goodness the World Series is over because I was staying up way too late and dragging every day! I was not super passionate about either team but just really love watching good baseball and seeing grown men act like little kids when they win!
What I am loving is the Every Day Holy Devotional! I have read all of Melanie’s books but I honestly thing she has totally outdone herself with this devotional. It’s not too late to grab your copy and follow along on Instagram using #100dayseverydayholy. If you have a teen daughter at home, you might also pick up the Fearless Faith devotional. I grabbed for Carly and have been so thrilled she is reading it!
What I’m Listening To
I’m kind of crazy over love songs lately and Rascal Flatt’s new song Back to Life has me swooning even if I thought Dan & Shay sang the song before I heard them in person at the Grand Ole Opry…ha! Spotify is always on in my office and the Next from Nashville playlist is one of my favorites. I’m also listening to the soundtrack from A Star is Born and was cracking up last night as I sat in my car and listened to some college kids parked next to me belting out a song at the top of their lungs, each with their phone out recording themselves.
What I’m Wearing
This fall floral dress is so comfy and easy to layer. I love how it paired with these new booties but can’t wait to wear it with tall boots as well. 
Camo Pants (tall, plus) | Sweater | Booties
I’ve been wanting a new pair of camo pants for some time and when I found these in tall I knew I had to try them. They are also available in plus size. Kind of crushing over the lavender and camo combo.
I showed off this sweat graphic tee Andrea gifted us Nashville girls and I love how perfectly it pairs with this new cardigan! 
Layers are a necessity this time of year in Texas if you want to dress for the season and not die of heat stroke! I love how this matchy matchy combo came together. These booties were a great deal for under $40 as I have already worn multiple times in a week. 
If you ever want to just take your outfit up a notch, just add leopard! I love these booties so much and can’t believe I spent so much of my life not knowing how to pair leopard print with other items. You can’t go wrong with a classic gingham and this old cardigan is still a favorite. You might notice my friend Tanya was wearing the same one in our meet up!
What I’m Doing this Weekend
We will be doing some volunteering this weekend with Young Men’s Service League as we participate in the Ultimate Gift project. Our organization finds one mission to spend a Saturday working on in our community and we will be cleaning out flower beds and planting some trees for a local school.
What I’m Looking Forward to Next Month
Vacation and lots of time hanging out with my family! Of course I’d lie if I didn’t also say the thought of my Meme’s dressing isn’t also on my mind.
We are also making a quick trip to Baton Rouge to visit LSU with Dillon and that is going to be a whirlwind weekend but we are excited to be looking at colleges with him.
What Else is New
I’m kind of crushing over some new lipgloss I grabbed at Ulta with my 20% off coupon. I love the feel of lip gloss on my lips but really want the stain to last a bit longer. This gloss does not stay sticky and the color is lasting me hours. The biggest bonus is my lips feel super hydrated the entire time. I’ve only been using since Sunday but it is seriously getting some major brownie points! There is actually still an online coupon for 20% off as well!

Kudos to another mom for pulling these cute costumes together! The girls looked super cute.
And y’all, Dutch goes to daycare today so I had to run out and try to find something for him to wear…..I really didn’t want him to be “that dog” who didn’t dress up on costume day! I feel like this will be fitting for the boss dog he is. I hope you realize he’s smiling at the treat and not really about the costume! haha
