What’s Up Wednesday – June
What’s up Wednesday! I’m linking up with Shay& Sheaffer and you can find the questions in pink so check it out and join the fun. You can also find me joining Welcome Wednesday and sharing some looks with with all my favorite weekly fashion linkups.
What We’re Eating this Week
I’ve been eating way too much crap that’s for sure! Lots of fast food since we left Texas on Saturday filled in with snacks. I feel like the staypuff marshmallow man right now and seriously had a hard time removing my wedding ring last night. Even Carly said she needed some veggies! Time to find some healthier options the rest of our trip!
What I’m Reminiscing About
It’s hard to beleive it’s only been 4 years since this happened! A lot has changed but one thing has stayed the same, this kid is still working really hard to make his big league dreams a reality. Kind of ironic this popped up this week…keep reading for “what else is new” to see why!
What We’ve Been Up To
Carly, my niece and I road tripped from Texas to Florida on Saturday! We used some of my Roadtrip Faves and have had some fun playing Cows on my Side!
Carly has probably been at the dance studio 15 hours or more each week and today she will compete at Nationals in sunny Florida! We have spent the last few days in a sprint through Universal Studios and Disneyworld and now momma is looking forward to a few days of floating the lazy river.
We also had a fun day celebrating the 45th birthday of the Dixie Chicken (a local icon) with our besties. Kind of ironic because my ex-husband was a manager here when we first got married and I met Keith here! We actually were ALL there for the celebration as Jordan brought her dad along. Our family is kind of crazy but I wouldn’t trade it.
What I’m Dreading
I love a good roadtrip but I’m not going to lie, driving back to Texas is not something I will be looking forward to! I’m use to having my road partner by my side and it was just not the same without him.
What I’m Working On
Well, I have to say I’ve been workign on…work. Oh, and collaborating with some friends! Join us on Monday and link up your fave Red, White & Blue!
What I’m Excited About
Hugging this ladies neck! One big perk about being in Orlando is I will get to see the sweet Kellyann and catch up in person!
What I’m Watching/Reading
I actually sat down and watched not one but TWO movies on Netflix last week! Loved both Always be my Maybe and Murder Mystery. Neither takes a lot of brain capacity and both made me laugh.
The Wife Between Us has definitely been a page turner. I’m thinking I will finish it today. At first I thought it was going to be fairly predictable but not so sure now.
Concurrently I’m reading Valencia and Valentine on my Kindle. I’m definitely sucked in and for a kindle unlimited free read it has definitely kept me turning the pages.
What I’m Listening To
Before our roadtrip I asked for podcasts recommendations and this was one of them. Umm…I’m hooked! I’m not sure if it’s because I remember the craziness of the actual time 25 years ago or if I’m just sucked into the perspective she is bringing but it took me zero minutes to decide to listen. Only a few episodes so far so it’s an easy one to dive into.
Jamie recently interviewed Alia Joy and wow, it spoke to me. If you have anyone in your life who battles with depression, is bipolar or maybe just struggling with addiction, I thought this was a very deep thinking listen. It really made me think about all those times when I just want so help someone “get over it” instead of being compassionate enough to just be there for them.
What I’m Wearing
My outfits have not been too exciting recently friends! I’ve been really working on shopping my closet instead of spending money. Let’s just say I hibernated a little longer than normal and shopping could mean buying a bigger size and that’s not fun! Here are a few things I am still loving.
I know I’ve shared this dress with you already, BUT, it has restocked! This dress was gifted to me by a new little boutiqe in town but it has been on serious repeat for me. You can use the code Queen15 to save online at Threads Boutique.
This little romper is another super cute item I tried last week. I have kicked myself for not grabbing and I’m thinking if it is still around I’ll be going back in to snag it. Definitely a good “mom” length and the fit and fabric were perfect.
I wore this little look for a date night recently after sporting the same with white jeans to work. Kimonos are something I love but I’m still on the fence as to how they look on me. One thing for sure, these denim shorts have been my fave pair lately and I’ve worn them tons! They have just enough stretch but hold their shape.
And seriously, these sandals have been one of my best spring purchases. When I ordered I was afraid they night look too “grandma” but they are super cute and I receive compliments every time I wear them. They also come in gold and cognac.
The love for this little pink blazer has been strong! Every time I post it I receive tons of comments. It was a splurge but price per wear has been amazing and I’m all about some girl math.
If you are still looking for a summer wedge THIS IS THE PAIR! Y’all, I grabbed the grey when they went on sale a few weeks back and I love them as much as my tan ones from last year. Nordstrom now has all eight colors of the sanibel wedges on sale so it’s the perfect time to grab a pair to try!
What I’m Doing this Weekend
Driving back to Texas!
What I’m Looking Forward to Next Month
We have one more roadtrip planned to Albuqueque, New Mexico in July and this time my driving buddy will be coming along. Of course baseball is taking us there but we have already been scouting some fun stuff to do including this swimming hole.
What Else is New
Well, last December Riley was picked up from the Astros by the Miami Marlins in the Rule 5 draft. It’s been a long spring let’s just say that and he was on the injured list the entire time. He began his rehab assignment this month and last Friday the Marlins put him on outright waivers. That’s kind of like being put on admin leave from your job and he literally found out when the story broke on twitter. Yikes!
After a long 72 hour waiver period when another team could have grabbed him, he was offered back to the Astros and they accepted. This baseball life is definitely not for the faint of heart!
So, the good news is Riley will be closer to home no matter which level he is pitching at! Being a professional baseball player is not an easy life y’all.
What are y’all up to this wonderful Wednesday?
