What’s Up Wednesday – June 2023

What’s up Wednesday! Today I’m linking up with ShaySheaffer.  You can find the questions in pink so check it out and join the fun.  I’m also linking up with Amy for Style on the Go! You can find the questions in blue so check it out and join the fun.

Let’s go…..

What We’re Eating

Summer salad

I finally grabbed the Just Bare chicken nuggets from Costco and am obsessed with them. We have an air fryer and I truly think I love these little nuggets more than CFA. They have made for an easy way to add protein to my lunches. My current salad obsession is romaine, strawberries, feta, boiled eggs and chicken. I have two dressings that I love; Tessamae avocado ranch if I have room for the fat in my macros for the day or Bolthouse blue cheese mixed with franks hot sauce if I’m looking for a lower fat option.

What I’m Loving

After trying our best to keep our momma in her home with a caretaker, we made the decision it was time to move to memory care. I have placed her near me in a facility that is perfect for her. She has literally thrived here and while she cannot actually express it, I believe she knows she is safe and no longer feeling alone. I love the peace and freedom it has brought back to both me and my brother. I don’t even think we realized how stressed we really were until the transition. So many ways I saw Gods hand in this move and I’m so grateful.

What We’ve Been Up To

June days

We kicked off June celebrating a wedding! It’s always my very favorite date night.

June days

Then Keith & I spent a few days away at Kalahari Resort in Round Rock for a work event he had. If you have kids this place is insane! So much to do both indoors and out. We opted for peace and quiet at the adult pool.

Father's Day

We celebrated Father’s day and our favorite dads with church, lunch and then a ride in the country to check on the cows.

This girl got her first “real” job and it’s been so fun seeing her be so responsible. She’s learning a lot of new skills that I’m sure will serve her well. If you come to College Station be sure to stop by Merge boutique and say hello.

Cinderella Camp

Went to watch a little showoff from Cinderella camp for this precious girl. She continues to light up our lives with how precious she is.

June days

We celebrated my little brother turning the big 5-0! This made me feel really old ha! This may be my favorite picture of us ever. He is a HUGE astros fan so the party was astros themed.

June Days

This guy and I took a big leap and bought 72 acres of land yesterday!! I’m nervous but also excited. Keith’s dad owns about 290 acres and this piece of land was land locked by his so when it went up for sale we decided to jump. To be honest, there is no fence and his dad has leased this acreage for his cows for years so I had zero clue it wasn’t already ours. Not sure our next step as Carly still has a year left in school but I’m excited to spend some time in the country.

What I’m Working On

If you follow me on Instagram, you have probably noticed there is a member of our family missing. Unfortunately Riley has gotten a divorce. This is never the ending you hope for when your children get married but here we are. I’m working on leading Riley to put Haisley first in all of his decisions. Being a single parent is not the end of the world for sure but it is really easy to let bitterness and hurt impact your actions. As someone who has been there I hope I can offer him insight not only into being a single parent but also in respecting the mother of your child. The one thing his dad and I did well together was parent and while it wasn’t always easy to set our own feelings aside, we did a pretty darn good job of putting our kids first in our actions towards one another. I’m grateful for the relationship I still have to this day with my ex because I know it made Jordan and Riley’s lives more stable.

What I’m Watching/Reading

I shared my June book review yesterday! Currently I’m reading Lessons in Chemistry and it started a little slow for me but last night I hit a big shift and can’t quit turning the pages.

What I’m Wearing

I’ve been living in this green dress I grabbed at a local boutique. It is so lightweight and perfect for the summer heat wave we are currently in. I’ve been wearing a pop of color on my feet to bring a little extra life to some of my looks.

What I’m Doing this Weekend

We are headed to the lake! I purchased a silent auction item last winter and have been looking forward to this weekend for a really long time. Having all my kids together is one of my favorite things and I can’t wait.

What I’m Looking Forward to Next Month

Carly will be taking her first trip out of the country on a mission trip to Costa Rica. I’m so excited to help her get ready and to follow along. Other than that I’ll be working and trying to sneak in a little fun here and there.

Bonus Question: What Amazon Purchase Did I Love This Month

Thank you Notes

I needed some new thank you notes and grabbed these off Amazon. They are perfect to have on hand and I love a handwritten note.

That’s alot of what’s up with me…what’s up with you?
