What’s Up Wednesday {July}

Today I’m linking up with ShayMel & Sheaffer for this months What’s Up Wednesday!  The questions are in green so check it out and join the fun.  Also joining Jessi and Jenn for What’s Hap- “Pinning” Wednesday.

What we’re eating this week…

The kids are off at camp so I’ve officially closed the kitchen for dinner!  After indulging most of the spring and all summer thus far, I decided it was time for a little jumpstart.  Riley was getting ready to head back to Florida for rehab and looking to get back to healthy eating as well and he likes the Advocare 24 Day Challenge.  Today is day 10 and the last of the fiber drink.  I will say I participated in this challenge several years back and Advocare has done a great job improving the fiber drink.  Cutting sugar, some carbs and alcohol is not always fun but I feel so much better in just a short 10 days.  Here is what I’ve been eating!
Breakfast:  Steel Cut Oatmeal with Blueberries or 2 Tbsp of natural Peanut butter
Lunch:  Mixed greens and Pico with 1/2 cup brown rice and some sort of protein.  I also am in love with the Bolthouse Salsa Verde Avocado dressing.
Dinner:  Roasted veggies and lean protein with a healthy fat like avocado or bunless burgers
Snacks:  Celery with black bean humus or apple with almond butter

What I’m reminiscing about…

Camp!  My kids are at T Bar M this week so it’s been so fun looking back at all the pictures from previous years.  This is Dillon’s 7th year and Carly’s 4th and it truly is the thing they look forward to the most.

What I’m loving…

Seeing the daily pictures uploaded to the camps site!  I’m sure you will see an overload in my weekly Queen’s Chronicles!

I still just cannot get over this man child living at my house!!

What we’ve been up to…

This month Carly has been busy with two different art camps and Dillon has been living the teen life of lounging around and fishing every chance he gets.  We also had lots of time with the Bigs before Riley headed back to Florida.

What I’m dreading…

 NOTHING!!

What I’m working on…

Well, this week I was suppose to be working on prepping the kids rooms for paint, but thus far notta! This has to get done and it is number one on my project list as soon as I find some extra time.
Purging cabinets is also on my list.   I have tons of scrapbook supplies from my days selling Creative Memories, lots of glassware and dishes and one other cabinet I’m not even sure what is lurking.  Time for a cleanout!

What I’m excited about…

New headshots!  I am taking advantage of the kids being gone and having some pictures taken downtown on Thursday by my fave photographer!  August 1st marks my two year blogiversary and I’m really hoping to make some changes to the blog layout and felt like some fresh pictures would also be a nice change.

What I’m watching/reading…

I’ve shared with you before how much I love listening to the Bobby Bones morning show on my drive to work so it should be no surprise I’m reading Bare Bones.  It took me a couple of chapters to get into this book but I am almost done and it is just a great read.  If you love a great story about someone rising up and building a life for themselves but also being accountable for mistakes along the way, Bobby Estell’s story is worth the read.  Plus if you are a listener the bonus is you actually hear his voice through the words!

I shared a fave (albeit cheap) bottle of wine along with the other books I’ve completed this summer in a Thirsty Thursday post a few weeks back.  I’m on my way to completing my 5th book of the summer which is a big deal for me.

What I’m listening to…

I really have not been listening to anything new, just the same mix of pop, country and christian music in random rotation.  Do you have any must listen songs I need to check out?

What I’m wearing…

Lightweight dresses to stay cool like this striped Lou & Grey from Loft
Fun summer patterns like this plaid popover
Or this summer print flutter top!
Another day, another swing dress but this time I’m mixing stripes on stripes!
And this happy camper tee I snagged at the #Nsale has already been worn 3 times!

What I’m doing this weekend…

Keith and I always sneak away for a night alone in Austin before picking the kids up from camp early Saturday morning.  We decided to stay downtown at the Driskill Hotel this time and are planning on a little pre-anniversary dinner at Perry’s Steakhouse.

What I’m looking forward to next month…

We are heading to the coast for a few days and I can’t wait!  I really just need my beach time once a summer to feel like I really had a summer.  This year we are going to Port Aransas and I’m super excited.

What else is new…

Hmm….lots of new things showing up on my doorstep from the #Nsale….decisions, decisions.  The clothing items have been easy to decide what to keep and what to return but the shoes…oh the shoes are always the best deals and the hardest for me to decide on!
This Pleione top is definitely a keeper and I already wore it yesterday.  I grabbed these booties in both black and camel and just can’t decide.  The camel are suede and the black more of a leather and I really think I love the black more but then I looked at how many other pair of black booties I have in my closet.  Eek!  Anyway….one pair or the other are staying as they are super comfy and I’m loving the open toe.

Bonus:  What was my favorite part about summer…

We still have a few weeks before summer is officially over and if I’m guessing the beach may end up being my favorite!  Here are some of the other favorites so far this summer.
 Celebrating Dutch’s 2nd birthday!
So that’s what’s up with me…..what’s up with you? #apostrophemuch

  1. Okay those throw back photos of the kids at camp made my heart hurt. Like seriously I can totally see how I am going to blink twice and my girls will be the ages your are now. NNNooooo!!!! I hope you have an amazing time celebrating this weekend.

  2. I love those black booties. I have a pair in my shopping cart but I have not pushed "go" yet. I love all of your other outfits as well. I am getting to that point of summer break where I am missing getting ready for work on the daily. Have a great day!

  3. I love the camp pictures! So fun to look back and see how they've changed over the years. I love all your outfits, too! I am hoping to take my littles to Nordstrom this week to get some shoes, but shoe shopping is NOT my son's favorite, and I'm pretty sure Nordies has a "Beware of this kid" sign up just for Jess after last year's anniversary sale shoe shopping experience. Ugh!
I hope you two have a fabulous time in Austin this weekend! Savor every moment! 🙂

  4. Loving everything here from the upcoming trips to the family photos and the adorable outfits! Thanks for sharing!

  5. The camp your kids go to looks awesome! They look like they're having a blast. And ughhh…I need to follow your lead and connect with a local photographer for some real headshots/photos. It's been on my to-do list for about two years. LOL Excited to see what changes you're bringing to your blog! Blogging is a fun and interesting journey, isn't it?

  6. I am at our beach house all this week and part of next and I am LOVING LIFE! Even though I am cleaning baseboards, steam mopping my tiles floors and cleaning outside lights……it never seems like a chore when I am in Pismo Beach! Its a cool 70 deg and I am NOT missing the 109 temps back in Tulare!

  7. Yay for some time with the Mr. and for all the Nsale things…I just got a big box yesterday but didn't have a chance to open it, and then there is the stuff I'm still buying, because when given the chance, I'm just going to keep shopping! hehe…:) Glad that you are dreading nothing, that is pretty fantastic.

  8. Girl! I need to just…say….no with the #nsale!! I cannot even tell you how many times I've ordered but I've also already sent most of the clothes I ordered back…just didn't fancy me the way I hoped. Shoes..now that's a different story! I'm gonna have some hard choices to make.

  9. Girl….I do no in store shopping for that reason. I cannot handle when my kids start any whining over just having to go with me. Of course I ordered CJ running shoes and then she had to have a pair for camp so I ended up buying another pair before these even came in!

  10. It truly does happen in a flash Beth. I think I've appreciated it more with the Littles because I knew how fast the bigs grew but honestly I still just can't grasp the change in Dillon the past year and 1/2 and the fact that in a short 4 years I'll be getting ready to send him to college.

  11. I finally got a pair of Hunter short boots! And socks. I still want a new pair of booties! I may have to just break down and get a pair of SE if they still have my size !!! But as far as everything else? I wasn't a fan. Oh I love my baby blardigan! Glad I pulled the trigger on that one while they had my size

  12. These posts are so fun to read…but to do one for myself – overwhelming! Appreciate you sharing today and I just have to say – Thankful Heart is this week and I'm so very thankful for you Shelly!

  13. My birthday is August 1! Happy Blogoversary! I stayed at the Driskill MANY years ago – I was in college, so that would be the 70's…Quite a landmark. Perry's is great. Have a wonderful time!
