What’s Up Wednesday – December

·

Six days until Christmas but who’s counting right?!  December is flying bye but it has also been backed with goodness and there is still so much to come!  I’m sharing some joy this month with What’s up Wednesday! I’m linking up with ShayMel & Sheaffer  and you can find the questions in pink so check it out and join the fun.  You can also find me joining Welcome Wednesday and sharing some looks with The Blended Blog.

What We’re Eating this Week

Well, things have been rather quiet in the kitchen this month.  It was canned Progresso chicken noodle soup and grilled cheese on Monday.    Taco Tuesday was made possible by some leftover pork roast and homemade pico.  Wednesday the boys and Carly are on their own as I’ll be heading out to dinner with my grown up girl.  I have not a clue what the remainder of the week will look like at this point!

What I do know is a whole lot of these cookies will be going down come Friday when I start the annual bake-a-thon!

What I’m Reminiscing About

Always, always with the Santa pictures and all the other Christmas shots this time of year!

What We’ve Been Up To

Holiday Fun #Christmas

Carly & I kicked off the month with the chapter tea for National Charity League.  It was a fun opportunity to get dressed up and work on our manners.  Ha!  Finding clothes for a teenager is so darn tricky but after about 5 stores we finally found something that would work!

We also had the privilege and honor of welcoming George H. W. Bush to his final resting place in our hometown.

We (meaning me) decorated the house for Christmas and showed off the half finished look in a holiday home tour earlier this month.

And we have been able to do some volunteering in the community this month.  This past weekend was by far the biggest and one we were able to all work together on which really made my heart happy!

What I’m Dreading

Really nothing!  I’m totally looking forward to Christmas break and all that comes with it… staying in my pj’s until noon every day!

What I’m Working On

Please tell me I’m not the only one still working on Christmas gifts!!  I really hope everything comes together…I mean it always does right?  But this year I am feeling a little less optimistic but also less stressed about it.  Instead I’m working on spreading some Christmas cheer and wrote up 5 ways you can spread Christmas cheer too!

What I’m Excited About

This handsome guy has a new opportunity taking him one step closer to living his dream!  Last week he was drafted as part of the rule 5 draft and is now part of the Miami Marlins organization.  The rule 5 draft is in place to prevent organizations from hoarding talent in the minor leagues.  The Astros either had to put Riley on their 40 man roster or take the chance someone else would draft him.  He was taken 4th on the day of the draft by the Marlins.  The Marlins must keep him on their big league roster for a complete year or offer him back to the Astros.  This is a huge shot for him and while it means he will be further away from home it’s not hard for me to be super excited for him! So, yeah, I’m officially a Marlins fan.

What I’m Watching/Reading

Merry Media #holidays #Christmas

I shared some Merry Media including some books and movies we are watching this month.  My goal to complete Every Day Holy was also completed this month and I have to say it was such a great devotional for me this fall.  It would make a super gift for a girlfriend in your life!

What I’m Listening To

Tilted Podcast #podcast

Tilted is a new listen for me and it may not be for everyone, but this particular episode is really great for those of us raising daughters!

Christy Wright is just the cutest and definitely a regular I listen too when I’m on a podcast binge.

What I’m Wearing

Holiday Top
Camisole | Velvet Jeans

I absolutely love this camisole and have worn it several times mixed with dress pants and also some new flare jeans.  While I have only worn with a jacket due to the cooler temps it does make a statement all on its own.  My newest purchase has been this cardigan which I initially borrowed from a friend and immediately (like while we were in the car to her bday party) got online and ordered.  It is so soft and the style is super flattering.  It was a little pricey but worth it in my opinion.  I will be watching closely for a sale!

Casual Style #fallstyle

It’s been a really long time since I’ve grabbed anything from A&F but this flannel shirt was a great find.  I’m loving the colors, it’s super soft and the fit is great.  Lots of colors to choose from and lots of sizes still available plus on sale! Of course when the temps cool off I find every chance I can to wear my Frye boots!  I’ve linked an almost identical pair 45% off right now.  Mine are 4 years old and I still love them and they still look amazing.

Festive Look #holidaystyle
Lace Top | Velvet Pants | Leopard Clutch | Festive Booties

I have seen mixed reviews about this lace top but I love it.  It has been perfect for the holidays and I’ve worn multiple times with dress pants and jeans.  It is super soft and not itchy at all.  I also found it TTS even though some suggested it ran weird.  While red might not be your choice, it does come in black as well and i seriously think it is a year round option.

And of course the sales have me wanting to buy all sorts of stuff for myself!  Here are just a few things I have my eye on.  Kind of crushing on this cute pair of leopard rainboots.

What I’m Doing this Weekend

My weekend will start Friday with a bake-a-thon getting all my sweets ready for family and friends. We will celebrate Christmas with the Janac side of the family on Saturday.  Hoping for a little family time, including our annual trip to Target for stocking stuffers on Sunday.  We have decided to delay celebrating with my family until the weekend after Christmas so I’m anticipating it will be a low key Christmas.

What I’m Looking Forward to Next Month

This kid will be turning 17!  January was never a month with much excitement but Dillon changed all that and now I totally look forward to celebrating him.  His birthday typically falls around the same time as the MLK weekend so that’s always fun.

What Else is New

All that stands between us and Christmas break is 3 days of finals!  I’m taking a page out of my friend Holly’s book and created something fun to surprise them with in the morning.

Bonus:  What is my Favorite Last Minute Gift

I suck at not last minute gifts so you can only imagine how much I suck at for real last minute gifts!  I would definitely have to say I’d be picking up a candle or a bottle of wine!
