What We’re Eating
We have been buying these and going through them so fast at our house. Everyone loves them! We have purchased the bites and the spicy tenders and love making them in the air fryer to eat alone or in salads. I add blue cheese crumbles, some franks hot sauce and my fave bolthouse blue cheese to my salad. While I found mine at Costco, they do have them at Kroger and Sams apparently.
What I’m Loving
New to me, I’m loving my new makeup from Merit Beauty I have been wanting to try cream makeup for some time and when I saw Cassie at Hi Sugarplum talking about this I grabbed it. I didn’t grab this exact set but am LOVING what I did get and y’all, it’s taking me 5 minutes flat to do my makeup. I’ve received multiple compliments and let’s just say….that’s never happened about my makeup before!
What We’ve Been Up To
Me and my cowboy celebrated 22 years of marriage! We’ve been in a real sweet spot this last year.
When it’s too hot to do anything else, the blow up pool is where this grandma is at! Lots of backyard time in the pool acting silly and it has brought back so many memories of doing this with my own babies. It’s reminded me of all the simple, inexpensive fun we always had together before I tried to get all fancy.
Senior year is here and Carly Jo kept it simple with her personalized parking spot. We fixed up Keith’s old work truck….it’s a 2019 and looks brand new but has 333K miles on it…for her and she is loving it. It’s an F250 and she’s feeling herself. Ha!
We ventured out in the 100 degree weather and took Haisley to the Houston Aquarium and had such a fun day. It’s so fun to see her amazed by all the different creatures and I love seeing her daddy explain it all to her.
Got together for dinner with my siblings. I’m long over due ever writing a post about this so for those who don’t know, I have one brother but also a biological sister my mom gave up for adoption. They found each other in 1993 and we have known each other ever since but only in the last 3 years have Allison and I really bonded over the situation with my mom. It’s been a beautiful piece of the story.
Carly and her friends were invited to the annual convocation for the school district so they had to get all dressed up. She had to get a new hat this year so little miss now has a Strutter hat to wear too! She thought she was so big.
One of my favorite things is hearing this girls little pitter patter feet coming through the house and having her climb in bed with me. Morning snuggles watching Bluey in bed with Honey are my fave!
We kicked off our National Charity League senior year with the annual awards banquet. Looking forward to our last year of serving the community together with this organization.
And here she is for her last first day of school! I feel like I grew enough as a parent with her being my last that it doesn’t feel like it’s flown by as much as it did for the others. Maybe it’s the fact that I’ve had a child in school for 27 years (half of my life y’all) that makes me excited to experience this year with her and not be sad. I shared a few tips for enjoying senior year you can read here.
We are definitely in our fort era over here at Honey’s house! LOL….no blanket or pillow left behind.
What I’m Working On
Y’all, it’s been a month and I’m tying up all the loose ends of our budget process and year end responsibilities. I’m hoping to take a few extra days off and get my sanity back!
What I’m Listening To
Kate’s podcast is always so deep and moving and lovely and this episode with Minka Kelly is no different. At one point Kate says “don’t you love the unfinished way others love us” and it really stuck with me.
Loved this episode where Annie interviews Granger Smith about his new book. If you do not know his story, it is POWERFUL.
What I’m Watching/Reading
I wrapped up my August book review yesterday and currently I’m enjoying Meet me at the Lake.
What I’m Wearing
Would y’all believe it if I told you I didn’t take a single outfit picture in the month of August? Nope, not a one. I’ve definitely lost my motivation for sharing my looks and for shopping in general. I’m not sure anyone is really coming here for fashion advice anyway after my months of hiatus. So here is a look that I’ve definitely rinsed and repeated all summer long. These are my very fave curvy soft denim.
What I’m Doing this Weekend
As little as possible! If you know me you know that’s probably a lie…so maybe I’ll tackle the chaos in my garage or head down to my moms to start sorting out her things.

Tacos are a staple at our house and I learned about baked tacos from none other than Mix and Match Mama herself! These taco stands are my new favorite for making sure my tacos stand up and bake perfectly. These Spinach Pesto Baked Tacos are my favorite!
