Today I’m linking up with
Shay,
Mel &
Sheaffer for this months What’s Up Wednesday! The questions are in green so check it out and join the fun. Also joining
Jessi and
Jenn for What’s Hap- “Pinning” Wednesday.
WHAT WE’RE EATING THIS WEEK….
This is one of my families favorites! Bone in pork chops are the most flavorful but they will fall to pieces so I’m always super careful to remove bones. We have definitely been on a green bean kick lately too.
This was a huge hit with my family and it will definitely be appearing again soon! I tossed sliced deer sausage, corn on the cob, red potatoes, zucchini and squash with some cajun seasoning and olive oil and wrapped in tin foil. I wrapped about 8 of these in dinner size portions but in the future I really think I will opt to make one large portion. We grilled for about 30 minutes but you could also make in the oven on 425.
WHAT I’M REMINISCING ABOUT….
I feel like August has been all about looking back! Keith and I celebrated our 15th wedding anniversary and I took a little look back and shared
15 Tips to Build a Stronger Marriage.
And of course….reminiscing about how fast time goes by as I browse through all the back to school pictures! I wrote a little about how this back to school
growth and change affects us parents too!
WHAT I’M LOVING….
Pumpkin spice and everything nice….that’s what I’m loving about this season! The season when anything pumpkin goes and where this girl still loves being in the kitchen with me.
Pumpkin Chocolate Chip muffins were just what we needed this week!
WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO…
WHAT I’M DREADING….
Maybe not actually dreading, but I am anxiously anticipating a contrast MRI of my hip. Since training for a 1/2 marathon back in 2011, I’ve been battling off and on with what I thought was bursitis. Doctor wants to rule out anything more serious as the last 6 months I have not been able to get it under control.
WHAT I’M WORKING ON….
Time management! I am trying a new work schedule a few days a week which means an earlier start to the day. Time management is not my strong suit AT ALL but I have successfully planned our meals for the week and my outfits for the week on Sunday which has made a huge difference.
WHAT I’M EXCITED ABOUT….
Dillon is playing freshman football and we missed his first game out of town last week. I’m super excited to see them play on Thursday! Go Cougars!
WHAT I’M WATCHING/READING….
I started this book and have not had nearly enough time to read and the anticipation is killing me!
The Royal We is definitely one worth picking up.
Looking for ways to win in the kitchen? The latest cookbook from Shay is full of go-to meals your family will love! Carly Jo has already bookmarked all the recipes she wants to try beginning with the Nutella Whoopie Pies! You can pre-order your copy of
Mix-and-Match Mama Eats: Crazy Good Go-To Meals and believe me these make amazing gifts for teachers and family members!
WHAT I’M LISTENING TO….
My sweet daughter, Jordan, gifted us tickets to see Charlie Robison last Thursday night and it was such a great show! The music left me craving all the music Keith and I listened to when we were dating.
This girl probably should NOT know these songs so well, or at least not because she was listening to them at 10! So thoughtful to give us such a meaningful gift!
WHAT I’M WEARING….
I’ve been shopping my closet for old favorites but combining with new fall shoes I picked up during the anniversary sale! I seriously never dreamed I would have so many outfits to wear these wine booties with. Plus they will be perfect for Aggie games once the weather cools off. The Halogen block heels (similar here) I’m sure will be the perfect neutral this fall and I was loving how they came together to support this funky maxi I just cannot seem to part with even after 8 years!! The Vince Camuto booties have also been on major repeat the past two weeks and I’m loving how fun they look as I dressed down this black lace dress.
WHAT I’M DOING THIS WEEKEND….
On the blog yesterday I shared my
favorite football team to cheer for and this Saturday is opening day at Kyle Field for the 2016 Aggie football season. Super excited to be there to watch the Aggies BTHO UCLA!
WHAT AM I LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT MONTH…
Even though Carly Jo opted for a
girls getaway instead of a party this year, I am still looking forward to celebrating my baby turning 11! My youngest little baby….I’m going to soak it up!
I’m also so excited to begin pulling out all my fall favorites! I already ordered a few new candles…eek!
WHAT ELSE IS NEW….
Most of you know this kid has been back in Florida rehabbing his arm since mid-July but he has a few days off and will be coming in Friday night. No matter how old your babies get, it’s always so excited when they come home. There will hopefully be lots of dove hunting and family dinner time before he heads back.
BONUS: FAVORITE TRANSITIONAL PIECE FOR FALL….
Umm…I cannot pick just one! It will still be warm in Texas for a bit but adding a lightweight scarf is definitely one way I have begun to transition.
Adding pops of fall colors like mustard or wine and bringing out all the fall booties has been fun. The peep toe booties have definitely made the transition easier and as you can see the Toms booties made yet another appearance!
Hope you all have a super Wednesday!

I seriously need to find time to finish it!! It's getting juicy. I ordered some of Astleigh's candles this year and the first came on the 1st..it's delightful. She's an all things fall girl so I knew it would be amazing. Hope you are having a super weekend.
Lana I seriously have got to find some more time to finish reading!!! It's gotten pretty juicy and I'm dying to see what happens. Hope you are having a super weekend.
Victoria I'm so glad you wandered over! I loved popping over to your blog and finding the Blog-tember post…plus I instantly realized I had been by before around your gender reveal but had not seen your sweet bundle. Thanks for stopping by!
Oh Jessi…I totally have some work to do in my closet! I had never made pork chops in the crock pot either until this recipe….and I LOVE them.
Thank you so much Stephanie! I love finding new ways to mix up my closet.
Hahaha…noted…no scarves for Amanda! I love them but in Texas I definitely have to be selective when I pull them out.
I'm so happy I decided to keep the wine booties!! I don't know what I was questioning at first really…crazy woman. Hope you are having a nice long weekend.
I really wish I had more pictures of the first day with my bigs…..I'm pretty sure there were some years in there when I may have kind of lost my mind a little. 🙂 And yea…I decided to take today off and try to finish painting CJ's room!!
It really does go by fast sweet Sarah…..soak it up!
I love having CJ in the kitchen with me Beth….but my older daughter still would not ever choose this. Definitely has to be in their veins. 🙂
Kimm….you know these booties will go on sale again!! I do love them and can't believe how much I've found to wear with them.
As you know I love posts like these. I am sorry about the MRI but girl that mom's weekend was perfect and so is Nutella so I cannot blame Carly Jo. I am dying to add some burgundy booties and I love yours. The maxi outfit and the navy floral look are my faves. Happy 15th anniversary too. And I didn't know you had 4 kids, how old are they?
Haha…hi sweet Ada! Yes..4 kids..my bigs are about to turn 26 and 23 and the littles are 11 and 14. 🙂 These posts are my fave each month!
