What’s Up Wednesday {April}

·
Mel, Sheaffer & Shay are hosting a fun new monthly linkup on the last Wednesday each month and I decided this one is too much fun to pass up!

What We’re Eating This Week…..

We have a school spirit night this week and a celebration for Dillon so we will actually have two nights dining out.  One of my go to meals {Balsamic Pork Tenderloin} made it into the crockpot on Tuesday and we roasted asparagus and red potatoes to go along with it.  I’m sure we will make more veggies and have leftovers another night this week.

What I’m Reminiscing About…..

My Bigs when they were young.  I guess because they are both so grown up all of a sudden and I don’t see them as often but I’ve been thinking a lot about the time we spent together when they were younger.  Times were a little slower, my pocket book was a lot emptier but sometimes I think living in that little 1300 square foot duplex and eating corn dogs and mac & cheese gave us a lot more time to just be together.

What I’m Loving…..

Spring!  I have loved pulling out new clothes and seeing the grass and trees turn green and all the flowers begin to bloom.

What We’ve Been Up To…..

We have pretty much been ruled by TCU baseball, Dillon’s tourney baseball and 7 on 7 football and Carly’s dance and girl scouts.  April has been full of activities!

What I’m Dreading…..

Ridiculous I know, but I am leaving Dutch Buddy at the kennel over night for the very first time this weekend and I have to say I am a little nervous about that.  This little scamp has worked his way into our family so quickly and so perfectly!

What I’m Working On…..

May calendar and goals!  It will be another busy month of activities plus we will begin our annual budget process at work so staying on top of everything will be a requirement for survival.

What I’m Excited About…..

Girls night out!  I met several friends when we were pregnant with our now 13 year olds in a water aerobics class.   We have since added a few here and there because, hey, the more the merrier.  Getting together has gotten a little easier again with the kids becoming more independent but it is still not as frequent as we would like.

What I’m Watching/Reading…..

I finished reading The Girl on the Train this past weekend and oh my goodness it is a must read!  It was so good and I could not put it down.

What I’m Listening To…..

I’ve been on a little bit of a country kick based on my recently downloaded music…watching the CMA’s maybe?
Like a Wrecking Ball…..Eric Church
Little Red Wagon…..Miranda Lambert
A Guy Walks Into a Bar…..Tyler Farr
Say You Do…..Dierks Bentley
Wild Child…..Kenny Chesney
Going Out Like That…..Reba McEntire
Homegrown…..Zac Brown Band
And most listened to:
Smoke…..A Thousand Horses
I love how music can evoke so much emotion!

What I’m Wearing…..

Maxi skirts and dresses have been my favorite lately.  It’s been warm enough, I can wear them to work and layer with a jacket or cardigan and I don’t have to worry that my legs aren’t quite summer ready!  Exhibit A
Loving floral patterns and patterned shorts too!
Exhibit B

What I’m Doing This Weekend…..

Headed to Round Rock….yep…more baseball!  I’m excited to watch Dillon play as most of his tourneys have been rained out.  It looks like it will be a beautiful weekend so I’m hoping to get in a little time with Carly out by the pool and do a little shopping.  The Austin area is always great for dining out too.

What I’m Looking Forward to Next Month…..

Believe it or not….more baseball!  I will make the trip to Tulsa, OK for the Big 12 baseball tourney at the end of May and then on to college baseball playoffs.  Every single weekend in May is full of college baseball with some of Dillon’s baseball mixed in.  Good thing I love this sport!
I’m also looking forward to the end of school.  Lazy summer evenings and free weekends sound like a plan.

What Else is New…..

My sweet nephew Myles turned 4 on Sunday and this picture popped up on my Timehop app this morning.  Leave it to me to be about the last one to know about this fun App!  I seriously can hardly wait to open it everyday to see what treasure may be waiting for me!

  1. I love posts like this – little snipets on what's going on. It's sad that this is how we connect in these crazy last few weeks of school! I'm ready for some McJanac lazy days! I completely forgot to tell you when we were admiring our work in the new room the other day…all three kiddos were sitting on the couch and Holden said, "we need to get some more chairs – where are Carly and Dillon gonna sit?!". Everyone agreed that we need to work on that! 🙂 SO looking forward to tonight!!!

  2. Sounds like May will be busy! Hope DB does great in the kennel. We will be leaving Albie for a week in June. I just hope he behaves himself! I also loved Girl on the Train. I bet it will be a movie soon. Have a good hump day!

  3. I enjoyed Girl on the Train too. Couldn't put it down. Just as I had it figured out, it through me a loop. Lovely outfits, my favorite one on you is Exhibit A. My style of wear too. Enjoy all those fun games. Linking from Waiting on Wednesday.

  4. Love the maxi skirts! That is all I wear during the spring and summer. They can be dressed up or down.

You have had a busy April! I hope you get a break soon.

I totally agree with all of the music you listed. I love me some Eric Church & Miranda Lambert.

    Have a great day!
