What’s Up Wednesday – 10.28.20

What We’re Eating
A cool front made it’s way to us this week and it was the perfect time for some fall perfect meals.
We started the week with this chicken zoodle soup recipe. Typically I make the broth with all the vegetables and then split it into two pots. I use no yolk egg noodles to half for Keith and Carly so they could have a more traditional chicken noodle soup while I use zoodles in mine.
Next up is chilli served over brown rice followed by a big pot of stew and cornbread. I love weeks like this!
What I’m Reminiscing About
I mean what a difference a short 6 years can make! Even Dutch doesn’t look the same anymore. These two are both so grown up and thankfully at least one of the 3 still likes going to the pumpkin patch with their mom!
What We’ve Been Up To
We celebrated my oldest turning 30 years old! Love this happy girl.
Our sweet Haisley Grace turned five months old! She really is finding her little voice and loves making all kinds of sounds.
Lots of celebrating in October as we had 5 birthdays! We had some really great meals and lots of time with all the kids which is always my favorite. Of course none of this would be the same without my favorite guy! We are inching closer to the empty nest and keeping our relationship strong has never felt more important.
What I’m Working On
As the mom of the groom, we still have some preparations to pull together for the rehearsal dinner. I am going to work on the space layout and decor as well as finalizing the invitations. The location we are having the dinner is a little rustic and I need to find a way to pretty it up!
What I’m Excited About
These two are getting married in like 45 days! There is still so much to do but I can’t wait for the big day.
What I’m Watching/Reading
I finally jumped on the bandwagon and have been binge watching Schitt’s Creek. I’m totally obsessed!
I’m really close to finishing 100 Days to Brave and recommend if you are looking for something for yourself or a great gift for others. I’ve really loved having the journal prompts and dumping some thoughts daily onto paper.
Yesterday I shared what I’ve been reading lately as well as a couple of books I loved listening to on audible.
What I’m Wearing
Our first cool blast made it’s way into our area on Monday night and it’s been a little dreary. I don’t mind the cold but I’m not crazy about it when it the sun isn’t out. Hoping for a little sunshine the rest of the week!
Definitely my new favorite sale piece is this sweater blazer! I have worn it countless times already and it si the piece I’m grabbbing most to layer over both a short sleeve tee or a turtle neck depending on the weather. I’m only sad I snoozed too long and missed grabbing a second in gray.
Also, my fave wedge sneakers are so comfortable and they are currently 40% off. I have these in gray from last year and wore them constantly. Took this pair out for their first shopping trip two weeks ago and they were comfortable enough for 10K steps!
I also grabbed this fun new clutch from Noonday designs. It has such fun fall colors and the material feels more like a fall/winter bag.
So fun to pull out a soft and cozy sweater and this one fits all the requirements. It’s also lightweight enough that I think I’ll be able to layer a tee underneath. I also ordered about 6 more pair of slacks to try while Express was having a big sale. I love their dress pants and ordered a few pair in some various styles and colors to see if I can add another pair or two to my work wardrobe.
My Frye boots are just about sold out and, while they were an investment, I’m so glad I grabbed them during the Nsale. This pair from Madewell is very similar and is currently 40% off.
I’ve also been waiting for the chance to wear my faux leather leggings and it’s finally cool enough! I love how this look came together with the big boxy blazer.
Lots of ups and downs with the weather mean layers most days. I purchased this cardigan two years ago and it is still one of my very favorites. While it is on the pricier side, the quality and versatility has definitely made it worth it for me.
And these booties I also grabbed during the Nsale are marked down 60% off! I am fairly sure that is less than I paid for them. I’m all about comfort when it comes to shoes and these have worked so well. While I love a great animal print that is calf hair, they tend to wear faster for me. I love that these are more printed leather and I think they will make it more than one season.
What I’m Doing this Weekend
It’s been awhile since I’ve done some purge/reorg around here! Last week I took a few days off for my birthday and was able to knock out my closet and now it’s on to the pantry and bathroom cabinets. I’m hoping to make a dent in those areas this weekend.
What I’m Looking Forward to Next Month
Homecoming! It’s been awhile since I’ve had a freshman in high school and I’m super excited our school is still planning to host a Homecoming dance on the 21st. I am excited to go dress shopping with Carly Jo and see her and her friends get dressed up!
