What’s Up Wednesday 09.29.21
What’s up Wednesday! Today I’m linking up with Shay& Sheaffer. You can find the questions in pink so check it out and join the fun.
Let’s go…..
What We’re Eating
We have really been trying to get back to eating at home and I have been focused on eating foods that I love that are easy. Back to basics if you will. Breakfast has always been one of my favorite meals of the day but I had gotten away from the basics. This week I have scrambled one egg and two egg whites, browned 3 pieces of Applegate chicken & herb sausage and sauteed some spinach for my breakfast and it has been so good!
My other challenge is ever since I had Covid last November my taste has not been exactly the same. I can taste food but my taste buds have definitely been slightly altered because things either taste super bland or too salty to me. It’s weird. Regardless, I’m trying to prepare meals to have for lunches and dinner each night so we know we are getting good whole food instead of eating out so much.
On the menu this week: Moms Meatloaf, Egg Roll in a Bowl, Baked Chicken Pesto Tacos, Fajitas
What I’m Reminiscing About
Ahh….back to the days when it was so easy to get my kids all together for a picture! It is hard to believe this was 9 years ago already yet they have all changed so much. If you didn’t see Mondays chronicles you will have to check that out here to see who our latest Aggie in the family is!
What We’ve Been Up To
September has been full of goodness and, while I haven’t been doing much blogging otherwise, I have been keeping up with our happenings with The Queen’s Chronicles. Here is a mini look.
We got to keep our Haisley girl an entire weekend and loved every bubbly second of it! You can see more of her cuteness along with Carly’s first pics in her Strutter uniform in this Life Lately update.
Keith and I traveled to Montana and spent several days hiking over 30 miles in Glacier National Park! It was amazing. You can read my recap of Days 1 & 2 here and Day 3 here. Hoping to wrap up the full trip tomorrow.
We had a packed weekend full of fun like Homecoming, a little baseball and a visit with my mom.
Carly Jo turned 16 and had a little photo shoot to document. We had dinner and ate Nothin’ Bundt Cake to celebrate.
Haisley Grace started Mother’s Day Out and I had to share her first day of school! Y’all, I think there is no way she could get any cuter and then she absolutely does!
And then we had more sweet September memories when Keith had his time in the spotlight last Friday when the dads danced on the field with the girls. It was a fun time!
What I’m Working On
Taking photos of the clothes I’ve managed to outgrow 🙂 to load to Poshmark for sale! The process is super easy but I just need to get myself started.
What I’m Excited About
The Beautycounter Holiday Bundles have been announced and I can hardly wait for mine to arrive so I can share all the goodness with you! This is my third holiday season with Beautycounter and these are definitely the best sets yet.
What I’m Watching/Reading
I wrapped up my summer book review as well as my September books recently. There were definitely some winners in both groups.
What I’m Listening To
If you have been around the blogging world awhile you might know Cathy from her My Side of 50 blog. Well, she has just launched a podcast and if you are in midlife and looking for some inspiration as you walk through the changes this time of life brings, you should hop over and give her a listen! Cathy truly has a heart for pouring into others and I think she has found her place with the podcast!
I love Annie but pair her with Christy Wright and I was really into this episode. Christy has a new book out, Take Back Your Time, and it’s already been delivered to my house after I heard her speak about it. I think it will change the way you view balance in a positive way! You can listen here or, if you would rather read than listen, the full transcript is here.
It’s no secret at all how much I LOVE Emily P. Freeman. Her voice alone just calms me and I always come away from her podcast with a more peaceful spirit. This week she interviewed Kate Fowler who is battling cancer and just released a book, No Cure for Being Human. Listen to the episode here or read the transcript here.
What I’m Wearing
Transitioning to fall in Texas is tricky. We want to wear all the fall inspired clothes but temps are often still in the 90s! I have been pulling in some fall colors along with layering lightweight jackets and cardigans to make things feel more “fallish”.
Loving this new top from my latest Stitch Fix box and it’s perfect for layering under jackets and cardigans.
This black dress has been a huge win for my closet and I wear it at least once a week. It’s a little heavier fabric than some so it hangs nicely and is forgiving on the bumpy spots if you know what I mean! Similar dress on sale here or limited sizes of exact dress on sale here. I ordered this dress after seeing it on my older daughter and hope it will be a great one to layer with some kimonos in my closet or a denim jacket.
I’m also loving this long cardigan in this rose color. I grabbed this one at Loft but it quickly sold out, however, the almost identical color is available here. This is just such an easy look for fall while the temps are still on the warm side.
Of course my trouser jeans are never to far out of the rotation any time of year! I love these jeans so much and every single time I wear them I receive a compliment. They are a splurge but I have ahd them several years and the quality is worth it. They color has also held up perfectly! Mixing two different denims is a fun touch for fall too!
What I’m Doing this Weekend
It’s been three years since my last trip to Nashville, but I’m headed out this weekend for some girl time! I’m going to meet up with a high school friend for a couple of nights and then reunite with these two cuties. It’s been almost two years since we have seen each other in person and we are so excited! Kellyann & Lisa are definitely two fo the blessings blogging have brought me.
What I’m Looking Forward to Next Month
October is always a favorite and this one will be no exception. We celebrate 5 birthdays in October plus even though Carly turned 16 in September, her bday party will actually be in October. Lots of fun stuff plus hopefully more fall temps!
