What’s Up Wednesday – 06.29.22
What’s up Wednesday! Today I’m linking up with Shay& Sheaffer. You can find the questions in pink so check it out and join the fun. I’m also linking up with Amy for Style on the Go!
Let’s go…..
What We’re Eating
I have been away at a conference since Sunday and I ate what they served which is always over served! So it’s back to balancing out my macros this morning with a breakfast more like this!
What I’m Reminiscing About
June has been about baseball in my life for a long time and every year when the College World Series rolls around it brings back such great memories of our time in Omaha with Riley. It has always been my favorite to see him interact with the kids at the games no matter what level he has played in. Just days after this picture he signed to play professional baseball and has been chasing that dream ever since. He’s currently a free agent and playing independent ball in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and it is a grind. I’m super excited because they will be playing near Fort Worth this weekend and we will get to go see him. He has come so darn close to making his dream come true so many times and I just can’t help but continue to pray for his dream to come true.
What I’m Loving
For years I’ve been looking for a backpack that would hold my 15″ Macbook but also look stylish and I finally found it! I have been using this backpack the last two weeks and I’m in love. It holds way more than it looks like it would and has so many pockets. It also slides over the handles of a carry to make traveling so easy. I’ve been stopped multiple times with questions about it because it is truly lovely and I didn’t think it was crazy expensive.
What We’ve Been Up To
June through August is my busiest time at work so any chance I get to take a break I try to soak in.
We headed to Grand Junction Colorado for a week mainly to attend the JUCO College World Series but we definitely packed in so much fun along the way! I recapped a piece of this trip last week of our time hiking The Colorado Monument. This is such a great national park that is apparently under the radar as it was not crowded at all.
We also visited Arches National Park on this trip and I should have that recap up tomorrow with a few tips!
Two days of our trip we headed into the mountains for some time fishing and exploring the lakes in Grand Mesa National Forest.
And on our way back home we stopped to visit Pikes Peak!
And of course we watched baseball! San Jac won their first game and lost the next two so it wasn’t necessarily the ending we hoped for. For various reasons this kid has decided to hang up his cleats which was an ending I wasn’t quite prepared for either but we are ready to support his next dream.
Of course the first place I wanted to go when I got home was to see this angel girl because she makes the world a better place! She is just changing so darn fast and adds so many words every time I see her. She’s smart and silly and just so full of life. I love her so much!
What I’m Working On
Getting back on track counting my macros! Some may find this tedious but, when your relationship with food is healthy, it can be a great tool for balancing out your plate while adding a little accountability. Paying attention to how food makes my body feel has definitely become more important as I’ve gotten older. For the past week I have not tracked my food and pretty much ate whatever I wanted and today I’m feeling it in the form of achy joints and lots of bloating!
Anyway, I started a program back in January called Master my Macros which has been really good for me. I love that the macros are developed just for me based on my body composition (weight, % fat/muscle) and my workout plan (whether just walking or more strenuous). There is alot of science involved which I love and she has done the work to really understand the role hormones play. This program got me back into all of my pants during the first 6 week shred cycle and it was not about fast weight loss but more about losing some of the unhealthy fat that had accumulated around my belly.
I’ve tried another similar plan that included fasting and it did not work for me. My relationship with food over the years has not been healthy and any time I go into some sort of restrictive mode it is more stressful than helpful for me mentally. I never felt restricted with Master my Macros.
If you are interested in this program you can find out more at Master my Macros. This is not sponsored and the only discount even available to me is a one time 10% off if anyone joins and I still am posting about it because I have really enjoyed the program, the accountability but also the grace of the program.
What I’m Watching/Reading
Last week I posted a book review of my latest 6 reads! So many favorites in this group. Currently I’m reading Heard it in a Love Song and have been turning the pages quickly. This one came recommended and there was no wait at the library
What I’m Listening To
I ran across 21 Days of Walking Prayer after hearing Alisa Keeton interviewed on the Jamie Ivey podcast. I’ve been on a big mission the last 2 years to heal my heart and mind where it relates to my body and there has been alot to undo. This walking challenge really isn’t about the exercise but more about taking some time to connect with God. It started weeks ago but I jumped in when I could and have really enjoyed it. It is not free but it has been worth it in my opinion.
What I’m Wearing
Truth be told, I’m wearing the coolest items I can find in my closet! The heat here in Texas is no joke y’all. I don’t know if we have just had milder summers the last few or if I’m just no longer acclimated to the heat but these triple digit temps are ridiculous! Here are a few pieces I’ve tried recently.
This dress is lightweight and perfect for the 4th festivities. It is a crinkly fabric so packing it in a suitcase works well too.
This two piece set I showed off a few weeks back is definitely a favorite! It’s so fun for girls night or a date night and comes in a ton of fun summer colors. I’ve been wearing these sandals a ton this summer too.
What I’m Doing this Weekend
Heading to Cleburne, Texas to watch the Sioux Falls Canaries play a little ball. Hopefully we will also find a way to stay cool!
What I’m Looking Forward to Next Month
We have a family getaway booked at Canyon Lake and I’m so excited! This will be the first time we have gone to the lake versus the coast but I’m thinking we will find plenty of things to do.
That’s alot of what I’m up to….what’s up with you?
