What’s Up Wednesday – 03.31.21
What’s up Wednesday! Today I’m sharing some looks and co-hosting the Style Six linkup with my sweet blog besties. I’m also linking up with Shay& Sheaffer. You can find the questions in pink so check it out and join the fun. You can also find me joining Welcome Wednesday and sharing some looks with with all my favorite weekly fashion linkups.
Let’s go…..
What We’re Eating
Let’s see, we have eaten at all of our favorites lately; Pappasittos, El Tiempe, Luigis, Goode Co. Seafood, Urban Table! Ha! This time of year we are on the road ALOT traveling back and forth for baseball and dance. We have been awful about planning meals and if we are eating at home it’s typically a breakfast for dinner situation!
What I’m Reminiscing About
All the pictures popping up on my Timehop over the last week have been the last things we did “pre” pandemic as well as those first few weeks shiftiing to at home work and school. I vividly remember thinking it would just be a few weeks for it to get under control or at the most by summer. I took the time to answer 10 Questions posed by Laura Tremaine about a year in a pandemic earlier this month and you can read that here.
One of my favorite things to use this space for is keeping up a bit of a family diary using The Queen’s Chronicles but in looking back at 2020, I literally posted not one from the end of March until July. I’m so glad to be functioning again but some days still just feel a little foggy.
What We’ve Been Up To
This girl and I had a fun few days shopping over spring break! The teen years are such a joy….until they are not. My goal is to soak it all up when there is joy to be found to carry me through on those other days. Ha! She is darling so I mostly can overlook the sass!
A whole lot of watching baseball! Dillon is a freshman so there has been more watching everyone else play in hopes to finally see him log a few innings. We have done this before and we are here for it! Also the reason I logged 5 books this month. Ha!
Our girl finally came back from Spring Training in Florida and learned so many things while she was gone! We missed her like crazy. She is just the sweetest, most lovable thing and so fun right now.
What I’m Working On
Updating this blog space! I’m ready to simplify and really work on branding my color scheme across all social media. I’m just dangerous enough to change up some colors and create a little logo in PicMonkey but now that I have an idea where I want to go I will be turning it over to my original blog designer, Jumping Jax Designs, to take it the rest of the way! If you are looking at choosing a branding color palette, this website is so fun for generating colors that work well together.
What I’m Excited About
This week I booked plane tickets to Las Vegas in June! Yes, that sounds like a terrible idea in June but that is where Carly will have dance nationals so we are rolling with it! We are making it a girls trip for her, myself and Jordan and will take a side trip for a few nights to Zion National Park. Jordan loves planning fun outings so we are hoping to have tme to do some other fun stuff in Las Vegas besides the norm.
What I’m Watching/Reading
Aside from tons of college baseball I have been watching much! But I was able to cross 5 books off my list in March and I shared my March Book Review yesterday. Definitely some winners!
I started on this book Monday night and think I’m going to love it! It’s been on my list for awhile. I also started a new bible study, Woven, by Angie Smith. I would really love to lead a book club on this one I think!
What I’m Listening To
I’ve been following Los for a bit on instagram but decided to listen to his podcast this week and this episode about Empathy is so solid and full of truth. Loved his takeaways and 6 tips for how to be more empathetic to others.
What I’m Wearing
Carly has been trying to get me into some jeans like this and all were a no go but when I found these at a local boutique I knew I needed them! Coterie Boutique only had one pair of these left but the always have tons of new arrivals and you use the code ShellyJanac for a discount!
I’m obsessed with this new sweatshirt! It was a total splurge but I’m a price per wear gal and so far this one has already paid for itself. It of course works perfectly layered over some navy and white for Rice Baseball so it’s a win. It comes in several colors including a beautiful plum shade. I love the v-necki and the blousy sleeves.
I was gifted this sweet top last spring by my friends at Layerz Clothing but didn’t think it worked for me. Maybe that was the pandemic talking because I kind of think it’s darling now! They are a Texas based company and found in quite a few boutiqes. I have several of their pieces and they have all been quality. You can shop their website with the code SHELLY25 for a discount!
I love adding new dresses to my closet in the spring but some mornings it is still a little too chilly. This gauzy top was perfect to layer on top! It comes in quite a few colors and is currently on sale for $15.
What I’m Doing this Weekend
My oldest daughter and I are heading for a night away to Inks Lake State Park and Longhorn Caverns State Park for a little exploring! I’m sure we will have lots of pics to share on the gram! Then we will be back home to celebrate Easter even though our family is spread out all over the place and it won’t exactly be picture perfect.
What I’m Looking Forward to Next Month
Well, I thought my big boy was going to be back in Texas but that isn’t happening now. April is going to be alot of the same…baseball, dance and lots of being on the road.
