Let’s go…..
What We’re Eating
Well, after spending 2019 eating too many times at restaurants we have definitely made some huge changes in 2020. Most of our meals have come from home and, while it has been a little work, we are feeling much healthier about our choices and Keith is down 20 pounds! Side note, why can men lose weight so much faster??!!!
We have had to transition to a low sodium diet and it has been a little tricky but here are some recipes we have loved and modified by simply using low sodium broths and other ingredients and spices with no salt added. I’ll work on a tasty Tuesday post soon!
What I’m Reminiscing About
Dillon turned 18 this month so I did some reminiscing for sure! He was such an adorable little guy and has grown up to be such a sweet kid. We have our days but I think he’s ready to head out into the world and be a decent human!
What We’ve Been Up To
We had baby Ferrell’s gender reveal to start the month and found out my sweet grandbaby will be a little girl! I’m counting the weeks until May 18th for sure.
We celebrated Dillon’s 18th birthday with our framily. Our group continues to grow but I love that we are all still willing to squeeze into a restaurant and celebrate each other.
I don’t think I’ve updated you guys on my Mamaw in a bit. She is still recovering in skilled nursing but getting stronger every day. I’ve visited an assisted living facility here in College Station which is attached to the skilled nursing location she is in and really think that is where she will transition to once she is ready to be released. Her spirits are much better these days!
What I’m Dreading
Taxes….not going to lie I am not looking forward to pulling together all the paperwork and getting busy on our taxes!
What I’m Working On
Adding a little Valentines flair to the house with a few little touches here and there. I found some sweet little signs in the Target Dollar spot and at Kirklands but was most surprised by the one I found at our local HEB grocery store.
What I’m Excited About
As soon as I saw Melanie announce her new book I stopped everything and headed to order. When I saw she was looking for a launch team I definitely signed up so I’m so excited to help promote this book. If you have never read Mel’s books she is witty and such an amazing story teller. I love how easily she brings God right into the mess of a story and shows how he uses it for good. I have read all of her previous books and cannot wait for this one.
Of course you do receive a few freebies when you pre-order if you like that sort of thing! But if not, here is a great place to start if you want to get a feel for her work. On marriage – The Antelope in the Living Room is so funny and being the wife of a hunter/fisherman I could nod my head a ton. On Parenting – Sparkly Green Earrings . For friendship and just general you can check out Nobody’s Cuter Than You, It’s all about the Small Things, and the daily devotional Everyday Holy.
What I’m Watching/Reading
January always seems to be a month when I’m able to knock out a few books and this month I’ve tackled four. You can see my full January book review here.
My goal this year is to read one fiction and one non-fiction each month and while I have the non-fiction list all pulled together I really would love your very best suggestions for my must read books! The two non-fiction I have right now are The Road Back to You and The Next Right Thing. I love listening to The Next Right Thing podcast so when I saw the book free on kindle unlimited I had to download right away!
What I’m Listening To
Due to my recent obsession with the Enneagram, I’ve been listening to quite a few episodes of Typology podcast. I am a 2 and pretty much scrolled back through and listened to all the interviews with our about the Helper type. It was very interesting and I learned a few things about myself.
What I’m Wearing
Texas winters can be so challenging! Somedays it’s 35 and windy and by noon it’s 75 and sunny. This black middy dress has been a staple piece in my closet since last March and it is such an easy one to layer. I can pop on a sweater or a jacket but then it is easily worn alone once the temps heat up.
It is still in stock in royal blue, olive, red and navy in some sizes at a local boutique and I really think I need another color. You can use the code QUEEN15 for a little discount. Which do you think I should add? PS….it has pockets!!
So I’m jumping on the headband trend and not sad about it! If I can get just “one more” day without washing my hair I’m here for it. My vest has been on repeat and can be worn so many ways. It was sold out but I see it’s been restocked in some sizes.
This sweater is several years old and is a cahsmere blend. I have worn it so much and it has held up well. It is currently on sale and still in quite a few colors. I ordered a large for a little more length but feel it is true to size.
Again, Texas winter on display! I love this white tee and, while it is a little pricier, I like it because it is not so sheer. These jeans have been a favorite for me and Carly Jo and I will look at grabbing again when they are marked down but defintiely order a size down.
I told you, the vest has been on repeat! Mixing patterns can sometimes be tricky but when it’s good it is so good! I love this mix! My olive jeans came from a local boutique but I did also find this pair that is on sale. Olive is a colored jean I feel like I can interchange more often and all year long.
What I’m Doing this Weekend
Dance convention/competition season is here! Carly and I will head to Houston this weekend and I’ll have some hotel time while she dances her heart out. Then I”ll have to refresh my fake eyelash application skills for her one performance! I can’t wait to see it. The girls work so hard all year preparing and cleaning these dances.
What I’m Looking Forward to Next Month
Oh sweet February. My life will be full of baseball games and dance the entire month. I’ve also been invited to a Galentines favorite things party so I’m excited about that too!
