What’s in a Blog Name – A Reintroduction
Happy Monday! I don’t know about you but I’m kind of a fan of Mondays; a fresh start, new beginnings, a chance to make a bigger impact. It all brings me joy! Now, would I rather start my Monday on a beach somewhere sipping orange juice and coconut rum? Maybe so! Today I thought I would do a little flashback and a reintroduction of sorts and give you a little glimpse at how The Queen in Between came to be.
Would you be shocked to know I only became obsessed with reading blogs about 5 years ago? I’m not sure what I was doing with my “free” time before then but I was sucked in initially to fashion blogs and quickly figured out I actually could afford to shop at Nordstrom! I’ve always loved clothes and shopping but really was not very good at dressing myself. It was easy to hide this inequity as I just headed straight to the store, bought the outfits that went together and wore them that way! As I started dabbling with pattern mixing and other little tricks I also began sharing an outfit here and there on Instagram and enough friends commented to make me start thinking I too could have a blog!
I also am an over-sharer by nature and am very good at telling more about myself than anyone needs to know. When I was younger I loved putting all my thoughts and feelings down on paper in the form of short stories or poetry but I really had not embraced my creative side in that way for years. I really began feeling a draw to share some sides of myself and my experiences and felt like maybe, just maybe if I had a blog someone would read it and I would be able to touch just one person!
My family is also freaking amazing (think all moms everywhere!) and while I am a hardcore scrapbooker I just wasn’t having the time to keep up with the memories like I wanted to. Blogging was a chance to also keep a little diary of our happenings and I feel so thankful to have almost 4 years of our memories documented in this space!
So why The Queen in Between? First I love a good rhyme but I also started jotting down all the things that were kind of “me” and it all just kept coming back to how I constantly felt like I was in between one thing or another all the time! I have been between a size 8 and 10 for years! In between parenting kids in 4 different walks of life? Got you covered there too. Constantly between work and kids activities and home and feeling like I’m going to lose my mind! In between following Jesus and constantly falling short? Yep, that’s me. Of course queen fit well because it rhymed but my family will tell you my biggest dream is for ALL of them to basically worship me as the ultimate mom and queen of the household. And thus the Queen in Between came to be! It really was a perfect way to sum up where I found myself.
What I didn’t realize AT ALL is blogging is NOT easy. At times it is seriously a second job. You realize really quickly how hard all those bloggers you followed are working and you realize to do it well takes lots of time and dedication. Good lighting becomes everything and you start to wonder if maybe you could just move to Alaska part of the year to have enough light during the day to get all your outfit pictures in! But what I also didn’t know was how much I would love it! Nor could I have guessed how fulfilling it would be to receive that one private message from someone who was touched by something I wrote because they really needed to hear it at that time. Y’all, THAT is my mission here!
It’s not only about the blogging but about the engaging which means reading more blogs and responding and commenting and next thing you know 3 hours have passed! No way did I ever dream I would end up with this circle of friends full of amazing women who I have never actually met in person!
So I hope whether you have been reading since the beginning or you just stopped by today, you feel welcome in this space! I hope it feels like a space where even if you feel constantly in between you can leave also feeling like in between is still an amazing place to be!
