What I’m Wearing – Style Six
For February I decided to primarily shop my closet and try to wear pieces that have been just hanging around so today I’m sharing what I’m wearing with the Style Six linkup! I apologize up front for the crappy lighting as these were all taken on the fly as I wore the looks each day.
Although I’ve been back in the office since June, I rarely see others and almost all meetings are on Zoom. It makes it really easy to just grab that nice pair of jeans and get comfortable wearing the same pieces in rotation. The goal this month is to wear some of the less worn pieces in my closet and decide if I really love them enough to allow them to continue to take up real estate.
First up, one of my fave pairs of ponte knit pants I’ve had forever from Ann Taylor. They have a fit almost like a legging but actually button and zip and have pockets so they feel more like a pant and I feel like I can get away with them at work! Stripes and animal print are among my fave patterns to mix together but it’s been awhile since I’ve done it. Love everything about this look but am probably tossing the striped top as it is just a weird fit and I definitely don’t love it.
I bought this dress in the fall and wore it once. I have no idea why I don’t wear this once a week when the temps allow because it is so comfortble! What’s not to love, flowy, pockets, and it always gets compliments! I decided to pair with my animal print booties for a little pattern mixing. These pieces are keepers! This dress is still available in this print and in two others.
Oh this blazer has only been hanging in my closet since I purchased it on clearance LAST FEBRUARY!! I had seen my oldest daughter wearing it one day and loved it but then it showed up and I never pulled it out. I love how this came together for a casual Friday at the office with my fave trouser jeans and this sweet scarf Keith gave me for Valentines day like 8 years ago (at least).
If a blazer is on your list, I’m loving the selection at Old Navy but also loving this great blazer in some fun colors for spring. My closet is full of blazers and they are such an easy way to dress up a pair of jeans or stretch a dress across seasons.
It’s definitely that time of year in Texas where we start out with the heater and end up with the a/c on mid day! That means dressing in layers and this is a combo that always makes me so happy but I haven’t pulled it together in awhile. Stripes and plaid play really well together and I topped with my favorite field jacket which I love so much I have it in 2 colors. This striped tee is perfect for leggings and comes in several colors and patterns. Of course I never spend a weekend without wearing these wedge sneakers at least once!
My Better Days Ahead tee has been one of my favorites to wear all year long. My friend Holly gifted it to me at the beginning of the pandemic when things were crazy in so many ways and I wore it constantly. Life & Laundry apparel provided a code for my readers and they have this tee on pre-order right now. Head over to shop their tees and use the code QUEEN for a little discount!
Y’all may remember I grabbed this skirt early last fall from Old Navy and was thrilled that it came in a tall length. I loved wearing it then but it’s just been hanging around ever since. I decided to try a winter look by adding tights and loved how it turned out! My turtle neck was actually “thrifte” from my mom’s closet haha. Carly was not impressed with this look but I loved wearing it if for no other reason than it was a change from my norm!
This look was meh. I love the sweater and the jacket and doubt they will got anywhere anytime soon. The jeans I purchased last spring and I so want to love them. They have the perfect amount of stretch and are so darn comfortable but I can never figure out what shoes to wear. Boots look awkward, flats look awkward. It’s just weird and I feel like they make me look squatty. I may try a few more times to find a look that works with them but they may be on their way out.
It’s been fun shopping my closet and wearing some items I’ve either forgotten about or have just been too lazy to work with. The one thing I have realized I’m missing is neutral sweaters in black, grey or cream. I ordered the sweaters below to try!
So are you shopping your closet right now or have you already started looking at items to buy for spring?
