WIWW – Summer Floral & Stripes

There is just something about a good striped dress that makes me happy!
I found this dress at the Gap last season and fell quickly in love.  It is perfect for the office layered with a cardigan.

Last season I would not have been brave enough to pair the stripes with floral shoes but I’m feeling much braver this season.  These shoes have quickly become a favorite and really add some interest to the same old outfit.

Pockets…..give me all the pockets!  I love pockets and would probably have them on just about every piece of clothing I own if possible.  I think it comes from being a tad introverted most of my life and it gave me something to do with my hands when standing around in a group.
This dress is several seasons old from Loft but I’m still just as crazy about it as I was on day one!  I think this was the beginning of my realization that an A-line dress was the best fit for my 40-something figure.

Of course the Kimberly necklace and my Star Mela clutch definitely make it a little more fun.
This clutch was definitely a price per wear purchase!  I have been planning outfits around it ever since I purchased.  It is just the perfect summer accessory.

Sleeveless in Texas is always a plus!
Are you comfortable with mixing patterns?  I have always been a “matchy, matchy” girl so this really took some time for me to be brave enough to try.  Now I’m afraid I may take it a little too far sometimes but I do think this combo works perfectly.
Here are a few other fun striped dresses perfect for summer!

    1. I seriously let them sit in the box the first 3 weeks after they arrived because I was "unsure"…I must have been in some sort of distress I was not aware of!! They are fabulous and so comfy!

  1. Love your style posts Shelly. Two gorgeous striped dresses which look so polished and feminine with the addition of the bright cardigans and super-pretty floral wedges. Love the subtle pattern-mix on each outfit and of course that stunning clutch!

Welcome by. Happy Hump Day! Ada. =)

  2. Fashion at its finest my friend! It seems like I always am wearing stripes in my pictures. They are so easy to add a color something to it. GAP, one of my favorite stores to shop for clothes. Was there yesterday at their outlet. Not a big shopper, but when I find a piece from there, it is worth it to spend a bit more because it never goes out of style. I would never think of putting florals with stripes, until I see someone else sporting it – then, well maybe. Just can't pull it off on myself. You on the other hand, knocked it out.

    1. Thank you Michelle! I have really, really branched out this past year and it has really helped me focus on adding a few things that will compliment what I already have. I seriously have always had to shop in in "outfits"…and could never put stuff together on my own. When Casual Corner was around it was my store and I thought my life was over when it closed down! haha

  3. I am NOT a mix it up kind of girl but you are giving me confidence! I love seeing your style emerge over the last few months! You give me so much confidence to try new things!!! Love love love your style!

    1. Seriously Kim, until about a year 1/2 ago I only purchased outfits that were already paired together. I just could not get out of my box. It has really opened up the number of outfits I can create with what is already in my closet. Now I can add a piece here and there and it makes something old feel new!

  4. You look adorable in each of those outfits. I have a few Aline dresses from Loft and they are all wonderful. I love the way you changed up the look with the cardigan and bright shoes.

  5. I LOVE the gingham dress from the Loft that you posted – too bad it's all sales final… Maybe we can sneak away for a little shopping in Austin and you can help this matchy matchy girl get out of her comfort zone! 🙂

  6. Your stripes caught my eye on the link up today!! I love these looks! I have similar pieces and hope I can put some outfits together that resemble yours! Fabulous! Susan

    1. I really was not prepared for how much I would love these shoes! They have really added so much fun to my summer wardrobe. Have a great day Fonda!

    1. It took me awhile and a lot of trial and error. I just kept pinning pictures of other people mixing and finally realized I could really expand my wardrobe. Thanks for reading and have a great week!

  7. I love the red sweater with the blue and white striped dress. I have a blue and white striped dress too, and I never thought of wearing a bright colored sweater with it. Great idea.

  8. I really love both outfits, the pink and the thre red cardigan with the stripes looks great. I need to add stripes to my wardrobe. I see them on others and really love it. I agree about the pockets, I have a couple of dresses with pockets and it is a handy feature. Looking great!

  9. Shell belle, I am going to some of my favorite bloggers today and commenting on some of my favorite outfits of theirs from 2015. This post contains 3 of my most favorite outfits of yours, because you are wearing those gorgeous floral wedges which I love paired with those striped fit+flare dresses which I love and a beautiful necklace each time. Plus the bright cardigans were a great choice. And that colorful clutch is to die for.

Here is to a sparkling fashionable 2016! 🙂 Ada.
