Wearing Lately – Style Six
A few new pieces have made there way into my closet to get ready for spring but I’ve really been working hard to shop my closet as much as possible. Today I’m joining my Style Six sisters and sharing a little of what I’ve been wearing lately.
I grabbed this plaid shirt dress on a whim becuase I loved the ruffle detail. Even though I knew it would not work for me buttoned, I thought I could maybe swing it layered over jeans and I love the way it turned out. Because it has a more fitted waist in the back it worked without adding girth to the look.
It worked perfectly layered over two of these sweaters I grabbed before Christmas so that was a win! I ran into a friend last week who told me this sweater has been the best thing I’ve ever shared. The BEST y’all! While I’m not claiming it’s the best ever, I have 3 of them! There are just a handful of sizes in two colors remaining but it is a great option for layering into spring.
If you saw my closet you would know I have a ittle obsession with jackets and this snakeskin print is no exception. This was a fall purchase and it has been such a fun piece to mix in. It paired perfectly with a fun color cami for a little Valentine inspiration.
Still new to snakeskin? Try adding it in small doses with a simple cami or maybe even a belt.
So this entire look is full of pieces that have been in my closet for years! If you follow me on instagram then you may have heard the story behind this dress. A blogger I use to love once showed it off and I quickly scooped it up and every time I pull it out I think of her. No big deal right? Except at some point she just vanished from all forms of social media and her blog and I’ve always been so curious what happened and more so whether she is okay.

Y’all already know this black midi has been a huge staple for me since I added last March. Given the weather I possibly wear this one weekly. This weeks look included my latest obsession which is this most perfect distressed denim jacket and a cute little necktie.
I’ve been searching for a new denim jacket in a lighter wash for months and happened to see this one on a friend last month. It was a bit of a splurge but 100% worth it because I’m certain I will get every penny back out of it with wear. It is perfectly distressed, has a great fit that is neither too bulky or too fitted, has the perfect length for me and just enough distressing to be cute but still appropriate to wear to the office.
The big selling point for me, however, is the raw edge both on the waistband and the cuffs. I ordered it in a large but have ordered a medium for comparison. I’d say it all depends on the fit you are looking for.
I’m ready for the ballpark and would love some spring weather so I can wear this look! I grabbed this denim skirt from the latest Hi Sugarplum collection and I’m loving it. While it is more than I would typically want to spend, there is so much about the fit that was so much better for me than many. It is more of an a-line cut and has the best pockets but I really love the side slits vs the back slit. I always just feel like things are a little too breezy when I have the back slit!
A lighweight sweatshirt is definitey a staple for winter and spring in Texas because you never know when things are going to go from 39 to 80 to 60 in a matter of a few hours! This one is easy to pop on and off. The camo is always a great neutral but this stripe has me thinking I need one more!
Of course if I had it my way, I’d be living in leggings on the daily. For some reason this year I’ve been an extra big fan of the faux leather spanx and ended up adding the camo and the animal print. It has taken me several years to kind of figure out how to make these feel casual but I think I’ve finally embraced it. They are also so fun to dress up!
And honestly, how did any of us ever live without wedge sneakers?? I need a second pair because I have worn these so much and they are looking a little rough! I’ll definitely be waiting for this pair to go on sale which are the same brand and they have been so comfy!
