Red, White & Blue and Baseballs Too!

· ·

Updating to join Erika and Andrea for their Favorite Things party and all things Red, White & Blue!  Sharing my 4th of July decorations and a few red, white & blue inspired finds from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale!

I always love pulling out my red, white & blue decorations and typically do so in mid May but this year with all that has been going on it was still birds nest and spring flowers until this past weekend.  I always start by decorating the mantel since it is the space I will see the most.

4th of July
This may come as a shocker but with all the baseballs around my house it has never once dawned on me to use them to decorate!  Kim at Hunt and Host showed off her mantel (see here) and I was instantly inspired!
I’m pretty sure I picked up these red, white & blue inspired decorator balls at Hobby Lobby a few years back and they have been a fun way to add some color and dimension.  I have to tell you I was fairly proud of myself for balancing those baseballs!
I picked up these little flags from the Target Dollar Spot after seeing Kim use them as well on her mantel.  Sand is such a cheap and easy way to fill vases and jars.  I picked up a bag at Lowes and I know I will use it for multiple displays throughout the year.
I made this flag banner several years ago after finding this tutorial on Pinterest.  I suck at recreating things most of the time as I become impatient really quickly so if I can do this anyone can!

I also thought made this wreath a few years back and you can view this tutorial here.
I love to showcase the wreath but don’t typically have a good place to hang it where it can shine.  This year I threw some more baseballs in a vase and the wreath hung perfectly from the vase.

I always have this memo board in the kitchen and Carly has taken it upon herself lately to change it up for me.  I thought she did a super job!  I love pulling out my red dishes too.

It always makes me feel like my house is a little warmer when I change things up a bit.  How do you get in the spirit to celebrate America? The Nordstrom Anniversary sale is still going on through August 2nd…..here are a few red, white & blue picks!

  1. Love all your decorations – especially the baseballs! When Kim used sand in her vases, I must admit, it was a complete duh moment for me. Seriously – I would have NEVER thought to do that but it looks SO good!!! Great job! Now you've got me itching to get out the red, white and blue!!!

    1. The rest of my house is a chaotic mess but it made me feel so good to change out some decorations. Having your son move all his crap home from college is always an experience!

  2. Everything looks so festive! When I put my red, white and blue out, I thought, Ok this stuff is staying out til the end of July. I like that it can be for all summer, not just fourth of July. I love the baseballs too since it such a big part of y'all lives.

  3. I'm not sure how I can be a military wife and not have a spectacular collection of patriotic decor 🙂 Nor have a mantel and not decorate it! Hobby Lobby–Here I Come! Thanks for the inspiration!

  4. I love seeing patriotic decor in other people's homes! Your flag wreath is beautiful! I put out my patriotic stuff before Memorial Day and it will stay up through a few weeks in July. Stopping by from Tuesday Talk – have a great day!

  5. I LOVE LOVE LOVE it! So cute. Those red, white and blue spheres are so awesome! I am so glad you were inspired. Honestly, some days you just need God to reassure you and today he used you to do that for me. Feeling joyful for your precious mantel. It's the little things friend!

    1. I feel ya….my brain has been so fried the past month I could not have pulled together a post if my life depended on it. I'm grateful I was able to realize I just needed a break. Have a great week!

  6. We're in the UK and have never had a need to celebrate 4th July before. However this year my very good friend from Pittsburgh and her family are coming over for an all American cookout. I'm so excited and am making a wreath, have flag bunting and am going to town on the red white and blue. Love your vintage looking baseballs! Have a great summer!
