Tuesday Toast – A Heart for Service
As we begin the month of November, it seems now more than any other month thankfulness is on all of our minds. This weeks Tuesday Toast is a shout out to my good friend and fellow blogger, Holly, who definitely has a heart for serving others and giving thanks.
I met Holly 13 years ago as we were about to deliver our boys and we became friends over time. I have watched her grow into this role of serving and can truly attest this is a fully fueled passion God has put on her heart. For the month of November you can join her for #30DaysofThanksandGiving which you can read more about here.
Holly and her husband Mike are both very involved with service in the community and they both work to instill the love of serving to their children. Isn’t their family adorable? It doesn’t hurt that she bleeds maroon through and through and what better place to serve than in a town full of Aggies who pride themselves on selfless service!
feel like I had a heart for service. I have always loved doing things for
others but never considering that an act of service. Colby attended TBarM
for the first time 6 years ago and their slogan was (and still is) “Love
God, Love Others”. It was not until then that I truly got it.
I had always linked service with giving monetarily. And while giving with
money is awesome, giving of your time and talents is also an act of
service. It was then that I realized what I had been doing was serving
all along and it was something that I truly loved to do.

love. Don’t do something just because someone else is or because you feel
like you have to. You will be more likely to stick with it and to
continue to give if it’s something that you enjoy.

Bank. It became our family philanthropy because we were able to really
learn about food insecurity in our community. It’s a place that we can
all volunteer and feel apart of. Definitely look at what you are
passionate about – have a love for animals? Try serving at your local
humane society or host a collection drive for a local rescue. Enjoy
baking? Take treats to your local fire station. Do what you enjoy
and you will enjoy serving others!
schedule a couple of hours every other week during the summers. It’s on
our calendar just like sports practice, camp, or a doctor’s appointment.
They know when we are going and look forward to helping others. I try to
expose them to a range of service opportunities in addition to the food bank
and then personalize future service opportunities to their interests.
Serving with your kiddos is a great way to spend some quality time with them
and I love that!
Thank you Holly for participating in the Queen’s Tuesday Toast!
