Transitioning to Fall + TBB Style Linkup
This week we headed back to school and it always signals fall is near. Of course in Texas the days are still 90+ temps so it can be hard to get in the spirit of all things pumpkin around here. While I won’t be changing my closet out anytime soon, there are a few ways I like to add a little fall into my daily outfits as I begin to say goodbye to summer.
Layering a lightweight cardigan or utility vest over your favorite summer tops or dresses is an easy way to warm them up a bit. I love this new longer length cardigan I grabbed recently and it paired so well with jeans over a simple camo tank. My favorite cardigans have been the lightweight open front style and they currently come in so many colors perfect for fall. Utility vests like this one were a game changer for me when I added my first a few years back. It will still be months before an actual cargo or utility jacket will be needed but I love the look and it’s easy to achieve with utility vest. This one also comes in camo and has been in my cart for several years waiting for a sale!
Adding colors I associate with fall such as mustard, burgundy and deeper greens is another easy way to take a summer piece and dress it up for fall. And don’t forget, while patterns such as leopard, plaid and camo are year round favorites, they are perfect for fall. It is my favorite season to do some pattern mixing. I’m crushing on this little leopard necktie scarf perfect for adding a touch of fun while not smothering you while temps are still up.
Swap out the sandals and wedges for opened toe booties! As you can see I’m not quite there yet and still wearing my favorite wedges a little longer but the introduction of open toe booties a few years back was such a game changer for fall. Don’t discount how cute a bootie can look with a pair of shorts to create a more fall feeling ensemble.
So don’t pack up your summer whites, blush or any other color you associate with summer just yet. Grab a few fresh pieces and transition your look right into fall.
What is your favorite transitional piece?
