Thoughts For Thursday – Rock, Paper, Scissors
Wednesday morning I happened to be at Carly’s elementary school as the kids arrived for the morning pledges and announcements. Two boys raced in trying to see who could be first to grab the part they wanted. As boys will be boys they of course wanted the same part and each had hold of opposite ends of the paper. Cathy, our precious front office secretary, solved it all with a simple game of Rock, Paper, Scissors! And y’all….everyone was happy! These kids were masters as I watched them go through the motions 3 times quickly each choosing the same thing and then finally a winner! There was no whining, no complaining there was a clear cut winner fair and square.
Friends….I am a rock, paper, scissors failure. I mean, I know what the basic game is but I have honestly never played and honestly had no idea what trumped what. My simple Thought for Thursday….how much smoother my life might be with this little tool in my conflict resolution toolbox! The possibilities are endless……
- sibling spats
- choosing a restaurant
- shotgun seat
- hunting or shopping
- who has to feed the dog
- Duck Dynasty or Disney channel
- seat up or seat down
So just in case any of you are Rock, Paper, Scissor challenged like myself, here are the basics!
I feel infinitely more capable of tackling life today!
Hop on over here and see where I might be linking up today!
Okay, Duc Dynasty – no game to decide. It should be a given. In our home it is anyways. Cute post.
You are so right, I am totally bringing back rock, paper, scissors into my world!
lol I NEED to teach my children this as soon as allowed, that way I can avoid being the decision maker lol
It really helps with arguing children. Lol! 🙂
