The Queen’s Chronicles

Happy Mother’s Day!  It’s time to take a quick look back at the events from the week with some straight from the camera photos.  I really have gotten so out of practice with taking “real” pictures!!   Here is what we have been up to!
Really wishing I had run to the store today to pick up some fruit because this cantaloupe looks so good.  When the temps start to heat up all I want is juicy fruit like this and cantaloupe.
Kristy from the Seven Graces Blog posted about this Tajin seasoning a few weeks back and I really am loving the extra zing it adds.
Tuesday night I headed to seven on seven football and grabbed these two afterwards for a quick picture.  Even though these two go to rival schools their friendship has remained strong.

Wednesday I subbed for my boss at a meeting with a catered lunch…score!

Wednesday night me and the little Miss headed out to pick up a few things I knew we needed to complete teacher appreciation gifts and Mother’s Day presents.  She is always so excited about everything and I just want to bottle it up.

Thursday morning I was up for workout and it was a doozy.  Tuesday we ran sprints, Wednesday I went to a cardio class and then death by pushups! Definitely feeling the burn this week.

I couldn’t resist wearing my new shirt for Cinco de Mayo even though I had to work.  I decided adding a blazer and some fun accessories worked.

And then this happened……so this week has been a little stressful.  On Thursday Riley thought he was going in for a sonogram of his arm and when he got to the hospital he texted me to let me know he was being sedated and the ANGIOGRAM would take 3 hours.  What?!!  I was a ball of stress to be so far away and have zero access to anyone who could tell us what was going on.  I may or may not have licked this lid!!
Momlife doesn’t stop though, and this girl had her dance recital to get to.  Don’t they look adorable? Having your bestie in your dance class is pretty much the best.  They were so excited by how tan they looked.

Carly also takes Hip Hop and she was excited about dancing to High School Musical songs.
And y’all…how cute is this bouquet my sister-in-law had made for Carly?!!  After the dance recital we headed to Chuy’s for some Cinco de Mayo dinner and drinks and some McJanac time.
Friday Jordan finally brought my grand dog over to meet the family.  Pesto and Dutch are fast friends and had a blast chasing each other around the yard for hours.  Several people have asked about her name and she received it from the foster home.  She was brought in about the same time as another group of pups dubbed the “pasta puppies” and all have some sort of pasta name.  Jordan has debated changing it but honestly this poor pup has been through so much I kind of thing her name is sweet.

She sits with her little tongue sticking out like this all the time…..so cute!

Saturday morning what I really needed was to have control over something and so I tackled the junk drawer!  I don’t know why but sometimes organizing a small space can really help me to feel like I’ve got things together.

I also made a few Sharpie paint pen mugs for Mother’s Day and this one I gifted to my Mom!

Carly & Dutch stayed snuggled in my bed watching TV while I did some laundry. Sometimes it makes me crazy that she still loves her thumb but then at times like this I can still see the sweetness. She always has to be doing something with the other hand….digging in her belly button, picking at the lose skin on someone’s hand…or her favorite is rubbing Dutch’s ears!
I’m biased but I do just think he has about the cutest face I’ve ever seen!!
While Keith and Dillon headed to Austin for 7 on 7 football, Carly and I headed out to Seguin to watch my newphew graduate from Texas Lutheran University.
It was such a beautiful night and I loved that the ceremony was held outside on the lawn.
This girl is so crazy!
We especially loved a small school graduation because it was S-H-O-R-T!  TLU is smaller than the high school my kids attended and graduation was over in an hour and 10 mins.

So proud of my brother and his little family!

Of course Nana was so excited to see Thomas get a degree!

Love this kid!   He has accepted a job in Oklahoma City and I can’t wait to see where his next step takes him.
We did not get home until after midnight so when I walked in the kitchen to find this on Sunday morning I was seriously like a little kid finding the Easter bunny had come!!  My girl has such a giving heart and asked my mom to take her to buy this pillow for me when she was visiting.
Of course her cards are always my very favorite!  Can  you tell Carly Jo’s love language?  I love that she thinks I yell when I’m excited.  Haha
But for real the back had me rolling!!  She wanted to make sure no one else got credit!  She told me she asked Dillon what he was giving me for Mother’s Day and he said “I’m her son…that’s her gift”. Oh my gosh boys are rotten.
My big girl brought me these gorgeous flowers and my house smells amazing from the star gazer lillies!
I literally stayed in my pj’s the entire day and finally got dressed around 5:00 so we could grab some dinner.  Keith put together my new console table from World Market, I worked on a little laundry and I binge watched some Gilmore Girls while dozing in and out.  It was just what this mom needed to face the week!
Riley flew to Dallas today and his dad and I will be meeting him tomorrow to see a vascular surgeon. The angiogram he had last week identified an aneurysm in his bicep which of course has us very concerned.  He will be having surgery this week to remove it and of course we are just feeling so thankful that he is so in tune with his body and recognized something was not right.  So many of you have been so kind in response to my Curve Ball Friday post and your prayers have been felt.  It will be a long week.
No matter where you are in your walk as a mom just know every stage is equally as rewarding and equally as challenging.  When you became a mom it really is true that your heart is forever walking outside of your body.
Wishing you all a super blessed week!

  1. So much goodness here girl, I don't even know where to begin! Yay Thomas for getting that degree! OK let's talk the taco tee! Can you be any more incredibly cute in that outfit! Love the necklace matches the cactus and I swear you had that been the cutest person on Cinco de Mayo ever! Ever!!! Hope your Mother's Day was simply fabulous beautiful

  2. Dripping with good stuff! I hope the angiogram went ok – what a shocker! My daughter would have me by my neck if I posted a pic of her sucking her thumb!!! Are you stealth or what?! Love it! I'm glad you had a wonderful Mom's Day!

  3. Oh my goodness! Prayers to you and Riley this week!! I guess I won't be seeing him at the Lancaster vs. Visalia baseball game! Praying all comes out well and he recovers quickly and safely! Have a blessed week!

  4. oh my gosh that's so scary, I have you and Riley in my thoughts and prayers this week.

Carly just looks like she loves dance so much and how sweet is she in her dance outfit?! Adorable!!

That sharpie mug is brilliant!!! lol I should make one for my mom

    Simply Shaunacey

  5. I hope all goes well in Dallas with the surgeon. Sounds like a scary situation, and I'm glad he was in tune with his body to notice something was not quite right. It was reassuring for me to read about D's mother's day comment. Let's just say my experience with a teen on mother's Day was not about handmade cards and sweet hugs…ugh! Anyway, things are looking better this week. Thinking of you and hope all goes smoothly with Riley.

  6. Death by push-ups?! Tell me more about this. It sounds terribly wonderful.

Looks like another busy week. Continued prayers for Riley, his doctors and peace for his mama.

  7. Praying for you & Riley. Having a sick or hurt baby is the most helpless feeling ever. I hope you get good news tomorrow.

  8. Haha…okay her you go and you will love it! Set an interval timer to beep at one minute intervals….set up two cones about 20 yards apart and at the start of the first minute you sprint to the first cone and drop for one pushup….rest the remainder of the minute…start of 2nd minute you run to the cone and then back (so two short sprints) and then drop for 2 pushups. You continue to add on until you can no longer get in all the sprints and pushups in one minute. It gets harder and harder because you have less and less rest each time. I think I made it to 7…but the really athletic girls made it to 9 or 10.

  9. Thanks Tanya! Surgeon was amazing and I'm feeling really good about the care he will receive…surgery at 10am Wednesday. And girl…I seriously have had to talk myself down so many times on Mother's day. The teen years I really do think were the hardest in so many ways. I'm trying to soak up all these little sweet moments with my girl because I know the hormones are coming soon!

  10. Haha…she would not be impressed if she knew I shared that. It is pretty much the last little piece of babyhood I have in my house so I just don't stress too much about it…I mean surely she will quit before she's married right?

  11. Oh my goodness. Well I will keep you all in my prayers for tomorrow and that the doctors are able to fix his arm! He will rehab and come back better then ever! Its so hard on us Mama's!

  12. Thanks for the reassuring words, Shelly! I had lunch yesterday with two friends who have 8th grade girls, and it made me feel so much better to hear that they are going through similar things. I need to work on not taking things so personally and just staying steady for her.

Thinking of Riley today and pray his surgery goes smoothly!
