The Queen’s Chronicles

I made a pretty good dent in some Christmas shopping this week and am still working on the final plans for our Thanksgiving dinner.  This week there is alot to do but I’m so looking forward to the fun along the way!  Here is a look at how we celebrated life this past week.
On Tuesday I joined Katy for Spiel the Beans and shared something I am thankful for but also at times take for granted.
Carly Jo really wanted to do something special for her Mimi’s birthday so we worked on making a double layer cake which she then decorated like a sunflower.

Mimi was super surprised and loved it.

We enjoyed dinner at Fish Daddys to celebrate!  Mimi loves nothing more than being surrounded by her family!

I shared a few options for our Christmas card design along with a giveaway.  Head over to see the joyful card design and register to win a $125 gift card to Minted!
My bigs were celebrating Thanksgiving with their dad so we were babysitting Jordan’s pup Pesto. Aunt Carly just loves her so much.

This boy was not feeling 100% when he came home on Friday but by Saturday evening the only fever left was buck fever!  He bagged this buck Saturday evening.

Sunday was spent celebrating Thanksgiving in Wharton with my Mamaw at her assisted living facility.  These two girls were the only great grandchildren to make it this year.

Mamaw was in such a joyful mood and we had a great visit.  I’m so thankful for my little brother who definitely has so much more responsibility for taking care of my Mamaw that I do.  He has the hugest heart and never complains.  I really cannot imagine losing all my children and two husbands and still getting up every day and caring to fix myself up but this spry almost 90 year old finds a way.  I pray for her often and can only imagine the joy she will have some day when she will be reunited with her loved ones.

I arrived back to town in time to grab this one for a few errands and an unplanned dinner date.  We sat at the bar and ate and had a few drinks and just really enjoyed not having any distractions.

Looking forward to a really short week!   Hope you all have plans for lots of friends, family and yummy food this week!

  1. Looks like a wonderful weekend filled with family. Every time I hear about your Mamaw, it breaks my heart. She must have a great spirit to still have a positive attitude, and I know she must be grateful to have you and your brother in her life! Have a happy Thanksgiving! 🙂

  2. That sunflower cake is so beautiful!! Sunflowers were my FAVORITE flower growing up… my entire bedroom was decorated in them! And my best friend and I made a cake almost identical to this when we were about 13. I had forgotten all about it until I saw your post. Thanks for bringing up some wonderful memories for me today!

  3. I am sitting on my butt today with Carly home from school not feeling well. I keep feel all relaxed and every hour or so I start thinking I probably should make a grocery list or something lol. Thursday morning I'm sure I'll be a nut case!
