The Queen’s Chronicles

·

Whew….this week was a doozie and I have to say I’m glad it is behind us!  Here is a little bit of the excitement from our week!
On Monday I headed to Dallas to meet up with Riley for an appointment with a vascular surgeon.  I arrived early at the Baylor medical complex and decided to look up the patient education library that was dedicated to my Aunt Debbie.  I wrote about how special she is to me and a little about her battle with cancer here.  It’s so crazy because she died in her early 30’s but when I think of her I still think of her so much older and wiser than I am even now.
Here is the plaque that hangs beside her picture.  She touched so many lives in her short time here.

So in case you are wondering how in the world Riley knew something was wrong, here is a picture of his hand.  He was having numbness in his fingers to begin with, then coldness and then as you can see discoloration.  What we now know is this was being caused from tiny blood clots traveling down his arm and into his fingers.  I’m so thankful Riley took this seriously and sought medical attention.   The surgeon was so reassuring and I feel very grateful we were able to get in to see him so quickly.

Before heading back to College Station I was starved and stopped in the Taco Diner in West Village. It was just what I needed!  Tacos and an empty restaurant meant the staff was super friendly and attentive.  They brought me all of their hot sauces to sample and made recommendations for tacos.

I have to say these tacos were amazing!

While I was in Dallas I missed out on one of my very favorite fun times!  Thankfully Holly is amazing and picked up my kids with her own and headed for the library to hand out bubble gum to the Aggies studying for finals.  It has become somewhat of a tradition around here to do this each semester and it is always so fun to brighten a students day while helping them #blowawayfinals.
Of course being quiet is sometimes hard for this crew!  I honestly think the older they get the harder it becomes for them to abide by the rules!

Tuesday I had tons to get taken care of at work and added some leftover fajita meat to some greens with this Bolthouse dressing.  If you haven’t tried Bolthouse dressings you so need to!  All of the ym and much better for you.

Tuesday was bring a friend to dance day!  These girls take ballet together but Carly also takes Hip Hop and brought her bestie along for class.

Tuesday night I headed back to Dallas and let’s just say I let satan jump right into my head and get me all kinds of worked up.  You see, my ex and I have an amazing relationship when it comes to our kids but every once in awhile I will start to feel insecure and that’s when I let satan feed me all kinds of little lies.  Thankfully by the time I checked in at the Doubletree and received my chocolate chip cookie my heart was back in the right place!  Plus….the closet mirrors made me look 10lbs thinner so there’s that!

So I ordered room service for breakfast and I’m pretty sure there was zero evidence french toast had been delivered!

No matter if your child is 2 or 22, sending them back to surgery is still a little scary.  I knew Riley was nervous and I’m so glad we were there to rally around him.

Surgery went so well and the aneurysm has been addressed.  This hospital was so nice and Riley was able to order his meals like room service.  He actually said “this is like a bed and breakfast but with drugs”.  My child.

The blardigan was the perfect hospital attire and I was super stoked to have wifi!

Finally busted out of the hospital on Friday with my boy in tow.  These Dallas BIG letters are all around town and I think I’m going to have to try and find some more next time I’m visiting.

I was thrilled to finally be dressed and headed back to see the rest of my babies.  How have I never thought to add this vest with a plain striped shirt and cutoffs?!!  I will be wearing this alot!

I grabbed the littles and Keith some pints of Blue Bell and this for myself!

My sister in law sent me this adorable picture of my Mamaw (middle) and two other ladies at her assisted living home wearing their Wharton Tiger shirts as they all 3 went to high school together. My Mamaw is such a mess and I can totally hear her saying “I look so much younger don’t you think”.

Pancakes all around on Saturday morning before Dillon & Keith headed out of town for baseball and I settled in to tackle the weeks worth of laundry.

Jordan brought my grand dog over to visit and these two had a blast playing together!

After they left he spent hours like this!  Playing with a puppy is hard work.

Carly Jo was able to go on a playdate with her friend Addison who happens to live on the same street as her teacher.  She loves going to visit and play with her teachers little ones.

The bigs and I headed to try a new location for lunch.  I just love these two so much!

And I give Mad Taco the thumbs up!  So delicious.  We also shared the GQ…Queso AND Guacamole together….yum.

Sunday morning Carly Jo and I decided a face mask was just what we needed to start our day.  I definitely neglected my skin this week.  She wasn’t so impressed.
She’s in to drinking coffee too…she likes a little coffee with her milk and sugar!  I thought this was so funny.
I initially thought I was going to use this in the entryway but I’m thinking I may change my mind and use behind the sofa.  Super excited I snagged this Everette table 30% off at World Market!
We finished up Sunday watching this kid play some ball.  I loved that he saw me taking pictures during warm ups and actually waved to me.  🙂

I never get tired of watching him play even when he struggles on the mound.  Part of the process is learning to work through the mechanics and figure things out and one of the main qualities in a good pitcher is being able to recover when things aren’t going well.  Plus I just think he is so stinking adorable.

Don’t forget, come link up your summer bucket list with my sister Queen Katy and I as we host the Spiel the Beans linkup on Tuesday, May 17th.  We so hope to see you there!!

Wishing you all a super week!
