The Queen’s Chronicles
So in case you are wondering how in the world Riley knew something was wrong, here is a picture of his hand. He was having numbness in his fingers to begin with, then coldness and then as you can see discoloration. What we now know is this was being caused from tiny blood clots traveling down his arm and into his fingers. I’m so thankful Riley took this seriously and sought medical attention. The surgeon was so reassuring and I feel very grateful we were able to get in to see him so quickly.
Before heading back to College Station I was starved and stopped in the Taco Diner in West Village. It was just what I needed! Tacos and an empty restaurant meant the staff was super friendly and attentive. They brought me all of their hot sauces to sample and made recommendations for tacos.
I have to say these tacos were amazing!
Tuesday I had tons to get taken care of at work and added some leftover fajita meat to some greens with this Bolthouse dressing. If you haven’t tried Bolthouse dressings you so need to! All of the ym and much better for you.
Tuesday night I headed back to Dallas and let’s just say I let satan jump right into my head and get me all kinds of worked up. You see, my ex and I have an amazing relationship when it comes to our kids but every once in awhile I will start to feel insecure and that’s when I let satan feed me all kinds of little lies. Thankfully by the time I checked in at the Doubletree and received my chocolate chip cookie my heart was back in the right place! Plus….the closet mirrors made me look 10lbs thinner so there’s that!
So I ordered room service for breakfast and I’m pretty sure there was zero evidence french toast had been delivered!
No matter if your child is 2 or 22, sending them back to surgery is still a little scary. I knew Riley was nervous and I’m so glad we were there to rally around him.
The blardigan was the perfect hospital attire and I was super stoked to have wifi!
Finally busted out of the hospital on Friday with my boy in tow. These Dallas BIG letters are all around town and I think I’m going to have to try and find some more next time I’m visiting.
I was thrilled to finally be dressed and headed back to see the rest of my babies. How have I never thought to add this vest with a plain striped shirt and cutoffs?!! I will be wearing this alot!
I grabbed the littles and Keith some pints of Blue Bell and this for myself!
My sister in law sent me this adorable picture of my Mamaw (middle) and two other ladies at her assisted living home wearing their Wharton Tiger shirts as they all 3 went to high school together. My Mamaw is such a mess and I can totally hear her saying “I look so much younger don’t you think”.
Pancakes all around on Saturday morning before Dillon & Keith headed out of town for baseball and I settled in to tackle the weeks worth of laundry.
Jordan brought my grand dog over to visit and these two had a blast playing together!
After they left he spent hours like this! Playing with a puppy is hard work.
Carly Jo was able to go on a playdate with her friend Addison who happens to live on the same street as her teacher. She loves going to visit and play with her teachers little ones.
And I give Mad Taco the thumbs up! So delicious. We also shared the GQ…Queso AND Guacamole together….yum.
I never get tired of watching him play even when he struggles on the mound. Part of the process is learning to work through the mechanics and figure things out and one of the main qualities in a good pitcher is being able to recover when things aren’t going well. Plus I just think he is so stinking adorable.
Don’t forget, come link up your summer bucket list with my sister Queen Katy and I as we host the Spiel the Beans linkup on Tuesday, May 17th. We so hope to see you there!!
So glad Riley is on the mend! And I love that cute table !!! Have a great week
So thankful that RIley is okay and he took it seriously! And that table from World Market is perfect! We bought our barstools from there and we love them! Happy Monday Shelly & have a great week :).
Glad your big boy is ok. Carly Jo drinking coffee reminds me of my Grandpa who always let the grandkids drink coffee with lots of sugar & cream when we visited!
Me too Cathy….my Mamaw always let me drink coffee at her house! Have a super week.
Glad he is okay and took it seriously. Those tacos look so yummy!

Great news about Riley!!!!!!!
I love the table behind the couch!!!! You know I have zero fashion sense!!!!….but I did buy a military jacket (I think that is what you call it) because we are headed to the smoky mountains in a couple of weeks…..thinking nights may be cool and I can use a cute jacket…..well, it looks horrible on me….lol……not sure if it is the color…the cut….or my overall dorkiness……oh well……..
I don't even know where to start.
First, I am so so so glad Riley is okay. I can't imagine the feeling of sending your child into surgery. So scary. What a blessing he is okay and what a brave mom you are for being brave for him.
K, that dressing sounds so freaking good!! Now I actually want a salad and I NEVER want salad lol
I love how she's your mini! I can't wait until Annabelle and I can do face masks and fun stuff like that!!
You've been busy! I'm glad Riley is doing ok.
I'm glad Riley is doing better. I totally think the hospital's new slogan should be "Like a Bed & Breakfast, with drugs!" That's perfect! I love your World Market table, too. It looks great behind your sofa.
Road trip to Dallas for a BIG scavenger hunt?!
Oh sweetie, I'm so glad Riley's surgery went well! Isn't it awful how that bad bad satan sits on our shoulders? We need to just flick him right off! Sounds like you had a busy and emotional week but full of so much goodness! Love the picture of you and Carly Jo with your masks, so cute!
So glad that Riley's surgery went well and that you could be there with him, that must have been hard on everyone! That table is perfect behind your couch, have to keep it there…thinking some big candle holders with pretty candles and some frames with pictures of your kids…:)
I'm so glad everything went well for Riley. Those tacos look delicious and I love that table! Yes for french toast room service – that's my favorite kid of breakfast. Enjoy your Monday!
As usual, I loved seeing your week in review. I'm so thankful all worked out well for Riley with the surgery. It was great that you were able to go to Dallas to be with him. Hope this week proves to be more normal and routine, if there is such a thing.
Wow! What a week. Glad you're son is okay, dear one. Hope we can meet up someday…we just live too close not to!
What a week! Praying your son gets healed up soon!
Continued prayer for Riley to heal up quickly. So glad that the surgery went so well.
Holy cow woman I think I was supposed to live in Texas. My stomach is now audibly growling from all of those amazing photos of tasty mexican treats. I have this spot in my heart just for tacos.
I absolutely love that your week was filled with tacos. I'm so glad your son's surgery was successful. Love this update and love that you linked to Waiting on…Wednesday!
Did I miss this fun themed linkup you started? Ahoy! Love it. Thanks for this nice catch-up/currently post. I love posts like these. I am sorry about Riley. I am glad it is all behind him, though. Thank God. And I mentioned Bolthouse smoothies and juices in one of my latest posts. Gotta try that yummy dressing. I laughed at Carly Jo's milk with coffee thing.
So glad everything turned out okay for Riley. Scary stuff. I have to agree, Carly Jo looks a little to grown up with a coffee cup and computer in hand. Loved reading every bit of this.
I'm so glad your son is doing well! But it looks like it sure made for a busy week! Hope this next one allows you a little R & R! Blessings!
Ha! Donna you know there is no rest for the weary. 🙂 Momlife…it is overwhelming but such a blessing.
Thanks Michelle! I'm so thankful things are going well. Hope you are having a super week.
Hi Ada! I've been a little shoddy on my blog reading but hoping to catch up this week. Love that you are on IG now at least so I can see your little muffin. Hope you are having a great week….and we would LOVE for you to join our link up in the future!!
Thanks Jennifer! Hope you are having a great week.
Beth…tacos are definitely my love language!! Thanks so much for the prayers.
Thank you Lisa! Totally hoping for some downtime this coming long weekend.
Totally agree Carrie! Would love to meet you.
Tanya if there is one thing it has not been around here lately is routine. haha I am looking forward to the last day of school like no one's business!
Girl…I do not indulge in things like french toast often but holy moly this was the bomb diggity!
So hoping I might have some time to style the table this weekend….and maybe find a new couch. I have such issues making furniture decisions!!
Girl you know you were the first person I thought of when I saw these BIG letters.
Emily…Riley is my child that has always pushed every boundary and I should no longer be surprised by the things he says but sometimes I still am. #politicallyincorrectmuch yes!
Dara….yes it's been busy! We are super excited with Riley's recovery so far.
I seriously wore myself out on salad….ugh…it's so hard for me to force down. I really think this dressing would be super amazing on some fish tacos too!
Oh my goodness Crystal….You need to send me a picture. I cannot imagine that the military jacket looks bad on you. Maybe too big?? You are short waisted like me though aren't you?
Blake I'm seriously impressed with the quality of this World Market table. It's my first purchase from their furniture wise so I wasn't sure what to expect. Hope to style it this weekend!
