The Queen’s Chronicles – Life Lately
It’s been a few weeks since I’ve shared a life lately update and the Queen’s Chronicles is my favorite way to document all that is going on in our lives that I want to be sure to remember for years to come. So while things have been feeling a little tense with so many unknowns, we have still had joy in our daily lives and for me it’s important to remember!
We kicked off spring break loving on this mom to be! Her excitement over becoming a mommy is only rivaled by the excitement of two very excited grandmas to be!
Is there anything better than little ruffled hineys? Cannot wait to meet this baby girl.
These cookies were not only cute but absolutely delicious! I may have taken a few home to share….and then didn’t. Oops!
Riley’s grandma, Bonna, was really trying to get baby girl to perform a little and she was being stubborn.
I’m very blessed by these two sweet friends who were kind enough to host this sweet gathering.
While Jordan was enjoying a bachelorette weekend in Charleston, my grandpup Pesto was staying with me. She was definitely ready for Honey to be done with bible study.
Carly Jo and I headed out to try a brand new brunch location in College Station, Another Broken Egg. They were still super duper busy with long waits but we added our name to the list and headed for some shopping while we waited. The food was worth it! I had the crab cake benedict and I highly recommend!
I just can’t get over this girl and how much she has changed over the past year. I’m obviously biased but she’s just so beautiful!
And loves to shop! She convinced me she “needed” a few things for spring break so off to Threads Boutique we went. Yep, those jeans came home with her.
I then headed to my hometown for an overnight trip to spend some time with my mom. I haven’t seen her much between all of our activities and moving my Mamaw to College Station. We had a nice time dining out and doing a little shopping plus finishing her taxes!
My mom has a killer album collection and I remember when I was young and found her Jimi Hendricks album and upped her coolness factor!
And the change of seasons means it’s time to freshen up the cemetery flowers and have a little visit with my daddy. It’s hard to believe we are approaching 16 years since he’s been gone. He’s missed so darn much that I know he would have been over the moon about!
Of course I also had to freshen up the flowers of my aunt, uncle and grandpa too. They are all together and my dad is just a few rows away. I dream about the day my Mamaw gets to be reunited with them again. I cannot imagine one day without one of my children and it’s been 16 years since her last passed.
It was back to College Station because this kid had a senior picture session scheduled! So glad to have that checked off our list even if so much else about senior year is up in the air right now.
I headed to Round Rock to hook up with this guy for a few days of alone time at this cute little boutique hotel. Keith works in Round Rock and since Dillon was playing a baseball tourney for a few days nearby we decided to make a little getaway out of it.
I also met up for lunch with one of my dearest friends who I do not see often enough. We met in 1st grade y’all and honestly both had to grow up a little too fast with adult situations kids shouldn’t really have to handle. It’s always comforting to be with someone who knows all the crap and loves you anyway.
While we didn’t need any toilet paper, after being gone most of the week we did need a few groceries. I headed out before 8am to see what I could find and was thankful the food was well stocked. This is one time when eating healthy, fresh food was an advantage because produce was not hard to find!
I’m sure it is stressful right now for those working in grocery stores, the medical field, etc. Not only are they busier than usual but I’m sure it might also be stressful to know they are exposing themselves while the rest of us are social distancing. I grabbed a couple of chick-fil-a cards just to say thank you to the cashier and the cart wrangler in parking lot.
Joined these girls for baby shower number 2! Taylor is definitely glowing and just so darn excited. She couldn’t wait to get the car seat installed in her car.
Y’all, I can’t with how good these cookies were too! I knew better than to leave with any because I would have eaten them until I made myself sick. #noselfcontrol
I loved this little card they had us fill out. We know from the big sonogram that she already has a ton of hair so I’m guessing it will be dark like her mommas but I’m guessing she will favor her daddy in a lot of ways. So, yeah, I also noted that I imagined the baby being high maintenance! Haha…Honey will love the drama and her daddy deserves it!
How sweet is this rocker?? Taylor picked this out and her mom snatched it up for her. So sweet.
You all know we are a huge baseball family so, while we fully understand the need, seeing baseball shut down like it has was such a shock. Riley made it back to College Station early Sunday morning and will now be basically unemployed as we see this all play out.
Dillon is informed and understands all that is going on but the realization that he may have pitched his last game as a senior when his season was going so well is definitely going to impact him. Not to mention prom, graduation and all the other things that come with senior year that may no longer happen.
My Mamaw is on lock down and I’m not able to see her at all. I was not as concerned about this necessarily because I feel very comfortable with her care but when I found out yesterday not only can they not have outside visitors but they are also being confined to their rooms even for meals it definitely worried me. If you have experienced dementia with someone you love, then you know losing a routine can cause disruption and confusion and often will cause the dementia to progress. I’m praying she has some sort of understanding and is not feeling anxious.
While I am being concerned and cautious, I am working to not live I fear. Looking for the good I’m seeing around me in our community to take care of others and do good for others is what I really want to focus on. I’m most concerned about those sweet kids out there who typically receive their meals from school being able to make it to the free lunches still being provided. Looking for ways I can ease the worry and burden for someone else is on my mind. Do you have ways you or your community is reaching out to the elderly or the those struggling financially?
Peace and love to you friends as we all navigate this unchartered situation!
