The Queen’s Chronicles – Fathers Day Weekend

The Queen’s Chronicles is my favorite way to recap the happenings in our lives and keep a bit of a scrapbook for my family to look back on. We had a somewhat quiet little weekend that was filled with a little productivity around the house but also some sweet times together.

Big Shots of Aggieland

We started the weekend off spending a few hours on Friday evening at Big Shots Golf. Dillon and a friend joined us and we all tried to let Keith be the big shot in our group! It was still so hot but as long as we were sitting there was a fan blowing on us and it wasn’t too bad. We tried a few different things off the menu and the boneless wings were delicious along with the fish tacos. The burgers are always spot on.

The HotShot Summer Pass is a really great deal especially if you are looking to entertain your kidos this summer. In just one visit a week it more than pays for itself and the kids eat free bonus or half priced shakes is pretty awesome. There is plenty to do and they even host Trivia night on Mondays.

Definitely love parenting with this guy. Our parenting approach is a little different but we agree on the big things like making sure we aren’t raising asshole kids. haha

Weekending #centurysquare #juanitascantina

Keith & Dillon went to the coast fishing on Saturday while I worked in the yard and did a few things around the house. Carly and I headed out for a late lunch at Juanitas Mexican Cantina which is a new restaurant at Century Square. I had a grilled mango salad with chicken which was delicious but y’all….what is the deal with restaurants not chopping up the lettuce these days? It seems to be a trend.

Let’s also just note, I had the best time hanging out with this girl. We went to the Luchesse store and finally got her boots ordered that were suppose to be her Christmas gift but they have been out of stock forever. On Sunday at dinner I find out as she announced to her sister that I had been so embarassing all afternoon. This totally took me off guard but goes to show that you can be on your best behaviour living your best little life and still be annoying your teenager!

Father's Day Weekend

Riley is in South Dakota playing independent baseball and I know he was missing his sweet girl. Seeing him be a dad is the best and we are alll missing him.

Father's Day Weekend

We spent Sunday afternoon in the country celebrating Keiths’ dad with a fajita lunch. I cooked lasagna and chicken parmesan for dinner but took zero pictures!

Of course Fathers Day doesn’t pass without me missing this guy. I always felt safe in my daddys arms! While I don’t specifically remember everything about this trip, we were in Colorado. My dad was working there and my mom and I went to visit. I remember my parents being super protective about the edge and not lettting me too close without one of them holding me.

Eighteen years ago we found out he had colon cancer the week leading up to Fathers Day. I remember how devasted I was and couldn’t stop the tears. He said “damn Shelly, I’m not dead yet” but sadly in a short 60 days he was. It’s not a daily ache but the ache is never fully gone. When I think about all he has missed seeing my kids grow up it really makes me so sad. He would have loved it all!

Looking forward to finding ways to stay cool this week as we have triple digits in the forecast pretty much every single day….not the heat index but the actual temperature! So darn hot! Hope wherever you are you are finding a way to stay cool.
