The Queen’s Chronicles + Giveaway!
Here’s a quick look at a week that went by in a flash!
Cut & color day is always one of my favorites! What about those eyebrows though?? I have to get by Ulta to have these babies shaped up before they take over my face.
Carly Jo had her annual eye exam and she really had her heart set on getting contacts. She tried so hard but here little eyes are just not ready. After a few tears she decided new glasses would make her feel better.
These are much bigger than what she has now but she was super excited.
Wednesday and Thursday were filled with lots of emotion. Seeing a family say goodbye is tough but they did so with such great faith and it was a beautiful tribute to a life cut short but lived well. We sang I’ll Fly Away and the kids released maroon balloons at the end of the day.
Everyone was ready for snuggles and some tv time come Friday night.
Saturday this girl and I had the best time for hours at a skating party. This was her first time and she was a little shaky and skeptical but she did not give up. I’m so proud of her and by the end of the party she was doing so well. I spent pretty much all Fridays growing up from about 6th grade through 8th at the roller rink. I’ve still got it!
Sunday was fairly productive with laundry, grocery shopping and meals. I made the Pioneer Women’s stew recipe thanks to Tanya’s suggestion and I also put together the copycat recipe for Southwest Chicken Chili that I love from Jason’s Deli which I blogged about here and it was delish! Best part is my lunches are made through Wednesday and we have enough leftovers for diner tonight.
Spent Sunday afternoon with these two lovelies on the patio of the Corner Bar overlooking campus. We didn’t get a lot accomplished but we did have some good laughs!
Love your lifestyle writing. Carly is so adorable trying new glasses… I could already imagine my god-daughter Zoey grows up to a fine young lady… if you have any time, welcome to check out her mum's blog http://letspackteddy.com
Your hair looks great, and so do CJ's glasses! I remember many nights in the early 80s at the skating rink. I even remember roller skating up and down my street. Hope the stew was good. Have a happy Monday and thanks for the giveaway!
Hug in a mug; how sweet!!!!! Yay for skating parties, hair coloring and productive Sunday's!!! I'll fly away…one of my favorites…what a beautiful tribute!!! Now a hug to you my friend, I hope this week gets off to a great start!!
My favorite Valentine treat is the heart shaped reeses 🙂
Your hair looks fantastic!! I'm the same with my eyebrows. It doesn't take long and they grow back! I usually try to get meals prepared on Sundays too. It makes the week move so much more smoothe.
I love making heart cut-out iced sugar cookies for Valentine's Day. It's been my tradition for quite a few years.
Mine would be choc covered strawberries 🙂
I love Carly Jo's new glasses!!! AND I loved starting my week off with y'all!
Not being able to wear contacts is so disappointing. I was the same way, but tell CJ to hang in there and I think her new glasses make her look even smarter! Meal prep? What's that? Says the woman who hasn't been to the grocery store in three weeks!
My favorite valentine treat – since I do not like chocolate – would have to be the gummy cinnamon hearts!
Carly looks great in her new glasses. And yes, saying goodbye is so hard. We had to say goodbye to one of my oldest's friends and fellow high school cheerleaders last year. They released colorful balloons, so fitting of Josh. He was an amazing gymnast and cheerleader. The skies were a bit gray that day, but it enabled us to see the balloons more clearly. We looked up to see they eventually formed an upside down J, just like crazy Josh!
Thanks Lauren! She's super excited about new glasses. Goodbyes are so tough. It was the most beautiful day to celebrate a life. Lots of praying for his little family.
Oh my how my hips would be happy if I did not like chocolate!!
She was so disappointed and I could tell she was about to really lose it but she recovered quickly! girl..I was so bad for so long and now I'm paying for it with clothes that are too tight! I wish I didn't love food…and beer so much!
I think Carly Jo is just stunning in her glasses! I wore contacts for nearly two decades and now I love wearing glasses, so she should totally love wearing them 🙂 but I get it, I played sports too and found them to be in the way all of the time so I wear contacts for sport time.
And a great way to start February and a Monday!
liz @ j for joiner
I love chocolates(:
Sunday was the best!
Thanks girly….it is actually a little jacked up but i'm hoping my girl can fix the issue in the morning since we have family pictures this weekend..yikes!
Funny…I love giveaways, chocolate, and coffee! You have all 3! I'm in! 🙂
Score Kari! My kind of girl….good luck!
Give me ALL the chocolate!
Thanks Liz! Well maybe it was jus meant to be because this girl could give a rip about playing sports. She really wanted to be able to wear contacts because her older brother still can't get his in and she was so determined to "beat him". ha! I think she looks adorable in glasses and honestly they are much "cooler" than they were when I was young for sure. Have a super week!
You tell Carly Jo that some lady in Rockwall said she looks gorgeous with her glasses. 🙂
Do you work at the university? My husband is an Aggie. It's been so much fun since we moved back to Texas from Oklahoma 3 years ago. He's back with his people.
She really does look odd to me without them now!
I just celebrated my 24th year working for TAMU! I actually graduated from Sam Houston State but I feel like an Aggie. We have some Aggie friends here from Rockwall. What class is your hubby?
My husbands aunt actually had a little jewelry store somewhere in The Rockwall area too.
1976 He majored in Psychology and sells commercial explosives. You just never know what your path will hold. 🙂
What a fun give away! And seriously I used to love roller skating.
Roller skating is sooooo much fun!! I seriously felt like a kid again.
Mine too Cynthia!!
Those sound amazing! I am so not patient enough to make sugar cookies but I sure do love eating them.
Oh Reeses let me count the ways I love thee. I'm not sure I've tried the heart but I have always felt the eggs at Easter…the big not the small…are the perfect combo of pb and chocolate!
Thanks Andrea! We sang the same song at Keith's Nannies funeral and the little kids all blue bubbles. It was so sweet.
Now your comment is back….good grief I really know how to jack up things around here sometimes! haha…..the stew was so good and it is ALL gone!
I love cute heat shaped sugar cookies!
Give me all the sugar cookies….just as long as I'm not the one baking them. Have a super weekend Kassie.
Is that your older daughter Shellie? The younger one is adorable in glasses and I love her floral swing tunic.
That is not my daughter but my bestie. You are not the first one who has thought she could be my daughter….bad for me and good for her because we are only a few years apart. 🙂
