Sweet 16 Brunch

Sweet 16 Birthday

Carly Jo turned 16 in September and she really wanted to celebrate with her friends but we had a hard time finding a day that would work with her school committments and other weekend activities already on the calendar. A school holiday seemed like just the right time to fit it in and we decided to host a Sweet 16 brunch.

She hopped on PicMonkey and designed and invite that would serve as the inspiration for the remainder of our decorations. I printed these at a local copy store but it is just as easy to email or send in a text which I’m pretty sure is what she did for most of her friends given the stack of invites I still see on her desk. ha!

My fave cake lady Is also a realtor and, well, we all know how insanely busy they are right now so she was not available. We chose a cake from our local H-E-B bakery and I may never go back! This cake served 15-30 depending on how you sliced it and was only $22! We ordered this cake topper from Amazon and Carly added some flowers to finish it off.

When I asked Carly if she wanted to have party favors for the girls, she suggested glass vases we could fill with flowers for the girls to take home with them. Using the party favors as the actual decor is genius! I found three different size glass bottles at Michaels (this set would be fun too). Sams Club always has a great floral selection and we were excited to find they had bouquets put together for Breast Cancer Awareness month that fit the color scheme perfectly. I pulled these together the morning of the party and could not have been happier with how they turned out.

Unfotunatley our house is just not laid out to entertain a group this size for brunch so I was on the hunt for a space that could be private but also wouldn’t break the bank. Our local Another Broken Egg Cafe has a separate room that can be closed off and, bonus, it was no charge to reserve on a weekday! This turned out to be a perfect option for us!

Lastly, I ordered the balloons from a new little company, What’s Poppin BCS, which is owned by two of Jordan’s friends. They did a great job pulling together a fun balloon arch to give a finishing touch to the decor.

My only regret is I failed to get a picture with the birthday girl! The lighting wasn’t the best in this space so I was also a little disappointed in their group pics but the memories will still be perfect! This is the first birthday party we have pulled together since Carly Jo’s 10th Slumber Party. We spent several years opting for girls weekend experiences with our besties (our last to Wimberley) and this should have been the year we headed to NYC but you can all guess why that didn’t happen. This little sweet 16 brunch was fun alternative to throw together!

On to Homecoming this weekend and one more reason to celebrate!
