Suit Yourself – Confident Swimwear
Raise your hand if buying a swimsuit is your favorite thing to do? Yeah, me either! Is there anything worse than trying on swimwear in a horribly lit dressing room? I definitely have learned through the years to try a few for sizing but then bring them home and try on in my own home. Finding the perfect swimwear is tough but you should definitely pick one to suit yourself.
My typical choice for a swimsuit is a solid color, probably black, so when I saw this adorable pattern I was shocked it drew me in. I really wasn’t sure I could pull off a lighter shade but decided to give it a whirl. The fit is so perfect for me and it has just enough details to add some flare but not take it over the top.
Thanks to Carly at Lipgloss and Crayons for her bravery in starting the #justwearthesuit movement! Too many of us miss out on special times with our families out of fear of showing off our post baby or aging bodies. Truth is no matter how hard I work, parts of my body will be forever changed because I carried four babies and saw it grow to almost 200 pounds and back again.
What looks like large bruises on my legs are actually a collection of spider veins. A once round belly button is now a little droopy and sad. As I ease up on 50 my skin needs lots of love to keep from looking like a gator. I’m really focusing on embracing my flaws or at least not allowing them to prohibit me from enjoying my life!
I’ve spent most of my life being super critical of my body and wearing a swimsuit really seems to bring all those feelings front and center. Right now I’m in probably the healthiest state of mind I’ve ever been when it comes to body love and still seeing my dimples is not easy.
Finding a swimsuit which fits well and compliments my body really helps me take the focus off my flaws so I can focus on enjoying my day. The truth is, we are the only ones who really notice the little things anyway!
The struggle to find a perfect cover up that doesn’t cost as much as the swimsuit can also be a challenge. I grabbed this large scarf I already had in my closet and used a little tying technique to create a vest of sorts which worked perfectly! I tossed this on with my denim shorts and easily transitioned from our room to the pool without feeling like I was overexposed.
When I suit myself with swimwear I feel confident in I can head out and enjoy my time without constantly worrying about how I look. Feeling good on vacation or just a day at the pool is a total game changer and showing my daughters what it looks like to suit yourself with confidence is so important to me!
So just do it! Get out there and wear the suit and have your best summer yet!
