Stitch Fix April – Style Six
Receiving a surprise box from my fave style service, Stitch Fix, was a welcome surprise during this sheltering in place busienss. Obviously with nowhere to go, I’ve been shopping my closet a ton but I had already ordered this box pre-quarantine with instructions to my stylist to just surprise me with some spring fun.
If you are new to Stitch Fix, it’s a style service where you receive 5 items to try based upon a profile you set up. You have the opportunity to give feedback on your style and send back anything you don’t love. Sometimes it’s defintiely harder than others to make a final decision but I love receiving something unexpected I didn’t have to shop for myself.
So let’s take a look at what my latest box held shall we?
The first item I pulled from the box was this adorable little sundress. The material was more fo a knit and the straps were adjustable. I really debated this one because as you will see below it was very versatile and could be dressed up for work very easily. While I probably would have worn it with a jacket I was just not feeling super confident wearing alone so I decided it was not worth the splurge.
I also received the denim jacket in the picture below. My stylist knew I had been looking for a new one to add to my closet after loving the one I received in my box last September but feeling it was just a tad too distressed. This one had the perfect amount of stretch and was a great length almost in between a crop and a regular fit.
My stylist did not know in February I snagged this denim jacket in a light wash which is really what I had been needing to add to my closet. That being said I returned this jacket.
This top was just all kind of off for me. The fit was a little weird in that it was flowly in places and then super tight in others. As you can see the fabric wrikled really easily and this is really not my shade of greeen at all. I loved the little touches such as the zipper but it just did not work for me.
I really debated this top. This is a color I love to wear and the fabric was so super soft but also thick enough not to show too many bumps. The fit was also great for the most part but as I looked at it more and more the sleeves just felt like they hit me at a bad spot.
Let me tell you, if you ever want to really evalutate whether you love an item or not, put it on and take some pictures or videos of yourself. You will see really quickly the flaws!
Lastly I pulled these pants out of the box and held out some hope they would be keepers. I love the idea of flowy pants in a linen material for summer. I just feel like they are the perfect summer pant but rarely find a pair that is long enough and/or with a flattering fit.
I will also say, depite my comment above about being sure to take pictures of yourself in items, some items are super hard to photograph. These pants were very hard to get a picture of but I did keep them. They have been great to wear for a work from home look that feels a little more dressed up.
It has been awhile since I’ve kept everything in my box but I love trying new pieces I wouldn’t necessarily pick for myself. Trying new boxes and giving good feedback has definitely improved the quality of the box I receive each time. Once I find a stylist who “gets” my style, I typically give her free reign to choose items for me.
My fave post from last weeks Style Six was from Debbie at Fashion Fairy Dust. If you haven’t visited Debbie before, I love that she always weaves a story in with her outfit. If you are struggling with our current circumstances (as I’m sure most of us are on one day or another) I would tell you to hop on over and read her post because you truly are not alone! Then link up your fave outfit for a chance to be featured next week!
