Royally Waiting – Weekending

Welcome to Royally Waiting where my besties Holly, Katy and I share a little chunk of what’s going on and what we might be waiting on.  Currently I’m hunkered down in Frisco just waiting for the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale.  No, not really!  I’m actually here waiting to watch Dillon and his team play in a national baseball tourney.  We are grateful to be close to home and even more grateful to have my college friend live so very close to the fields!

When I saw Shay and Erika’s fun prompt for sharing a weekend in the life as part of the Workin’ it Wednesday series I decided to keep a little record because no two weekends are the same around here for us!  So here goes.

Friday does count as the start of the weekend when it starts like this!  Whew…what a workout!

I only worked until 11:30 because Dillon had baseball out of town so I enjoyed a sweet hour long car ride with my two littles and we talked the entire time.  So rare!  Enjoyed hanging with little miss and watching Dillon pitch.

Note to self, do not mindlessly eat Skinny Pop while reading! Seriously y’all, I looked up and I had eaten half the bag in no time.  I’m enjoying this book; nothing you haven’t heard before but the stories she weaves throughout are so inspiring.

We made it back home around 6:30 after a stop at Buccees of course!  Keith wasn’t really hungry so we just kind of grazed on any leftovers available and called it good.

The boys headed back to baseball bright and early and I sat on the patio working on a few blog posts and responding to comments.

Saturday morning this girl slept sooooo late!  I finally went to check on her at 10:30!  I’m convinced she must be growing!  Please note, my kids have both been sleeping on mattress pads because I washed the sheets but have been too lazy to put back on!!

When she’s not sleeping she’s hungry!  We decided to head to Mad Taco for lunch.  I’m cracking up because after breaking an arm off her glasses on Saturday morning, Carly refused to wear an old pair.  She looks so different but she also has no clue where the heck to look because SHE CAN’T SEE!

It’s been awhile since she has baked so she wanted to whip something up so I grabbed Mix and Match Mama’s cookbook and we decided the wateremelon cupcakes would be a win!  The cupcakes turned out perfect but we suck at making the icing and had to put the aside until I could make it to the grocery store!

Most of my day was spent going through all the stuff Carly and Dillon removed from their closets.  I took a big haul to Plato’s Closet and traded for a little over $100 and while I was there scored a pair of Seven for All Mankind jeans in my size for $18.  I should have purchased a lottery ticket because I never happen upon things like this! Other items I added to our local Another Mother’s Clutter page and the kids were excited to have a little spending money.  This is what’s still piled up in my kitchen!

After church Sunday we headed to Grub Burger and I split the Jive turkey with Carly Jo. My family refused a picture!

A not so quick trip to Sams to pick up a few things and then also a sprint through HEB for a few little items.

We were babysitting Pesto for the weekend and she was so afraid of the thunder.  Bless her.

Steaks, pork chops and brussel sprouts along with Keith’s campfire potatoes all ready to go.

Keith is definitely the grill master!

I kept him company while sipping a watermelon margarita made with fresh watermelon.  It was delicious!

These roomies made it back from the wedding they attended in Dallas and we had them over for dinner.  Oh…to be a twenty something again!  So delicious y’all!  Keith’s potatoes are one of my favorites.  He layers tin foil, lines with bacon and then piles on thinly sliced potatoes before topping with sliced onion and some seasoning before wrapping up and tossing on the grill.  The best part is the crispy bacon at the bottom!

We ended the night watching Taledega Nights.  As you can see we are still all decorated for the 4th and, well, it may stay that way for a while!

That’s somewhat reflective of most weekends in our life; a little productive, full of yummy eats with some down time mixed in.

Now, tell us what you have been up to!

  1. What a busy weekend and a great find at Plato’s closet! Score! Those brussel sprouts look super yummy too and I’d like to wash them down with that yummy watermelon margarita!
    xo,

  2. GURL!! We gotta get Keith a bigger grill for all that MEAT!! I think Alise is going through a growing spurt, too! I swear she’s grown three inches this summer, but she’s STILL the shortest one on her basketballl team! Girl needs some height!

  3. I instantly noticed the missing glasses and thought, what?!?! Oh silly girl. Emily has 2 pairs just in case… but also she’s 6 and we all know how that can go! Taladega nights is so stinking funny. Always a favorite over here.

    1. Shut up Allie!!! ugh..reselling stuff makes me so angry. I do not do very well at Platos unless I’m selling guy stuff or good shoes. I browse through their store and see some of the crap they are selling and am shocked when they decline my items.

  4. Congrats on the score of the 7 jeans! My son loves Talladega Nights! The name of the FB group “Another Mother’s Clutter” is awesome! Someone was very clever. I see why you love Keith’s potato’s. They look delish!

  5. Pesto looks too cute in that photo. 🙂 I seriously need to try Keith’s grilled potatoes – sounds scrumptious! What a great find with the jeans. I swear, I never find any of these great thrifting deals you always read about, so I pretty much never even look anymore.

  6. The food and everything looks really good. You people were very busy with a lot of fun. Thanks for hosting and have a wonderful weekend.
