Royally Waiting {Link-up #9}

It’s Wednesday and that means we are all about sharing what we are waiting on!  I was seriously waiting on Wednesday after a long weekend and honestly almost skipped right over this linkup thinking it was TUESDAY!   Link-up your post with Royally Waiting and share what’s going on in your world.

Watching

Tin Cup….do you ever just see an old movie and totally forget how hot you thought an actor was?  Good grief Kevin Costner just makes me swoon.  I really think The Bodyguard is the only movie he’s ever starred in that I didn’t see.  Maybe it’s just the fact that he’s in so many baseball movies that I adore him but watching Tin Cup this week reminded me I think he’s adorable.

Eating

I did splurge a little over the weekend and indulged in a few beers and some fried shrimp but other than that I kept my eating on point.  Cutting out heavy carbs and my daily chips and hot sauce and too many sweets hasn’t been the end of the world.  I am still eating really, really good food and lots of protein so no feeling hungry.  Here is a little sample of my breakfast, lunch and snacks for a week.

Reading

I am loving this book!  It is an easy read and I’m fairly confident I know how the love story piece is going to turn out but the twist and turns along the way have definitely kept me interested!  Do any of the rest of you feel like there are just so many books and so little time?!!

Praising

Jesus!  I think Easter is always the time when the height of our passion for Jesus culminates and it is hard not to become a little emotional.  If you missed it, I shared a little about Why Jesus is my Favorite on Friday!

Hoping

I can keep the two beautiful twisted hibiscus plants I picked up from Sam’s club alive!   They are currently covered in blooms and have survived the week so I’m optimistic.  I seriously have zero green in my thumb but a friend promised me these would be different….yikes!  I also spent way too much on some gorgeous blue pots to plant them in!

Waiting

Patiently waiting on several home projects.  Next week we have landscapers coming to update our front beds and I could not be happier.  Driving up to the house and seeing some curb appeal makes me happy!  In the 13 years we have lived in our house rooms have been painted here and there but I’m at a point where I really just need it all done; woodwork, doors, walls, everything fresh all at once.  I’ve tried several grays but so far the right one has not surfaced but I’m hopeful this Revere Pewter will be the one. Isn’t it crazy how the lighting in your house can make such a difference?!

I’m also looking for a little more functionality in our “drop off” area.  We do not have a transitional space from the garage to the kitchen which means when my friends walk in the backpacks, shoes, purses, wallets, etc are all dumped on the bar or the kitchen table.  Currently we have an old china hutch of my grandmothers in the breakfast area but I’m thinking of having something built in similar to the picture below. I’m thinking I would add a bench in the middle with bead board and hooks behind for backpacks and such.  It’s my vision anyway…they would probably still toss the backpacks on the floor!

  1. Oh, no!! You never saw The Bodyguard?! Now THAT’S my favorite Kevin Costner movie! And his eulogy at Whitney’s funeral was wonderful and I remember the tears just streaming!

  2. We waited for a new couch for like 3 months once… I hope you don’t have to wait that long, UGH! I LOVE that paint color. I should pin that to my inspiration board. It just feels like that point of building is a zillion years away. Hooray for eating healthier. I am starting day 3 today and keeping lots of protein in my diet too!

  3. So many books so little time!! I have a wholeness stack of them ready to read in my nightatand. Maybe this summer instead of watching mindless tv I will read. I hope the paint works out for you. We have like 5 different color of tans in our house because of the whole lighting issue…it is crazy. But no one ever notices.

      1. Grays are SO hard! We definitely lean more toward the blue grays versus the greige’s. But, what looks right in one area can not in another.

      1. I hope one works for you.
And don’t be afraid of Amazing Gray just because it’s the darker of the two shades. Side-by-side the difference in color is basically unnoticeable. I have a brick wall in my house in Amazing while the other walls in the same room are Worldly. I can’t even tell. I did it because I was worried Amazing would be too dark on every wall. Now I’m confident that it would’ve been fine.
I can’t wait to hear the verdict! 🙂

  4. I love home projects and you are so right, I love when I pull up into my driveway and my landscaping looks good. I cannot wait to get flowers planted. You are so right when you say too many books, too little time. I have so many that are on my “to read” list and “Cancel the Wedding” is one of them. That grey looks really good. Greys can be so tricking because like you said, lighting all over your house makes it look so different. It can even look different at different times of the day. Happy Wednesday!

    1. I have been in heaven all weekend pulling up to my house and seeing the new landscaping!! And I finished Cancel the Wedding and it was so good…but then I moved on to Behind Closed Doors and finished it just two days. A little demented but it was so good!

  5. I have never been attracted to Kevin Costner and I always find it amusing when women swoon over him. My best friend LOVES Kevin Costner, and I just shake my head wondering why. Beauty is in the eye of the Beholder. The grey you picked is probably the most popular grey out there so I’m sure you’ll be very happy for it. What am I waiting for? This Friday when I leave for my vacation at Myrtle Beach.

  6. Great paint color! I know what you mean, we got indulge a little but trying to eat healthy feels good with occasionally being a little sneaky, ha ha! I love the hibiscus plants and trees at Sam’s has, hope they stay lovely for you beautiful lady!

  7. OK, my best friend painted her house in Revere Pewter and it’s GORGEOUS, so I had my office at work painted with it as well. Lighting does make ALL the difference because it’s not the same as her house looks. In homes it’s beautiful, under office fluorescent lighting..eh, not so much. Kevin Costner is totally swoon worthy!! Love him in For Love of the Game and Draft Day!!

  8. I was just telling my husband I needed a better drop off area. He thinks I should just make the kids put their things in the closet, but I just know that isn’t going to happen! It’s crazy how different a color can look in different lighting. I have this problem with the grout in our backsplash, in our kitchen. In the under cabinet light its a perfect white on white with the tile, but during the day the grout looks yellowish, it drives me crazy!!

  9. LOVE those hibiscus plants! I need to go and get two of them! And hold the phone – Kevin Costner is taken and is secretly married to me soooo sorry about your luck (hahaha love him! and love Tin Cup!) Have a great week friend! xo

  10. I am in love with the color grey and thought I would like it in my kitchen. Liked the look at you daily menu. I am also trying to cut some carbs out of my life, not an easy undertaking.

  11. You are so right about the colors looking different. It’s just paint you think to yourself, but it’s also hours of labor. UGH! Good luck! Love the hibiscus plants, but coming home with me would surely be a death sentence. You should break down and watch the Body Guard. It’s been soooo many years since I saw it, but it was good best I can remember. I’m plagued with the same situation of no mud room or other place to catch the “stuff” so it lands on our island…yuck! I hate looking at it and try to clean it off every day. That built in are would be beautiful!

  12. Oh, yes, paint colors are so hard! It’s so great that now you can finally buy those little cans of paint and test them out before you commit to an entire gallon. Hope you find the one!
