Royally Waiting (Link-up #16)

Welcome to the Royally Waiting link-up where Holly, Katy and I invite you to share what your waiting on this week!

Realizing

My kids and I have very different views as to how summer is going to play out!  They seem to think staying up all night and sleeping until noon should be the norm.  We are not even two weeks in and my house is a disaster!  Time for things to get a little more real around here.

Drying

The basket of clothes for probably the 6th time.  I actually needed to put a 2nd load in the dryer but I still didn’t want to fold the first so they all went round and round together.  That was two days ago and I now have yet another load that needs to go in the dryer and I just simply cannot bring myself to fold the laundry. Y’all, where does it all come from?!!

Eating

Tuesday was the first day of the Healthy Eating Challenge I’m co-hosting with Sarah and this is the only area where I have my crap together this week!    We have a little private Facebook group going and if you would like to join for some accountability and sharing feel free to let me know!  I showed you guys on Monday the veggies we cooked and I used the leftovers for both my breakfast and lunch today.

I wasn’t actually starving for breakfast until about 10:15 when I downed this dish.  Leftover sweet potatoes, sprouts and some turkey bacon along with 2 eggs, 1 egg white and Frank’s hot sauce for some extra flavor.  Probably heavy on the sweet potatoes and a little light on the sprouts but it sure was tasty!

For lunch I added some spring mix to a bowl and topped with sweet potatoes, sprouts, turkey bacon and grilled salmon.  I used a few shakes of Tessemmae’s zesty ranch dressing and seriously this was so delish!

Reading

Labels!  Even if you aren’t on a strict eating plan, looking at what is in the food you are consuming is pretty eye opening.  Sugar is in so many things I never realized before and I’ve really worked to cut sugar; not only the kind we think about with desserts and such but all those hidden sugars in things like spaghetti sauce.

Watching

The NCAA regional baseball tourney!  I love, love, love this time of year when the field of 64 comes together and is narrowed down week by week for the College World Series. Lots of great stories out there this year and I can’t wait to see the rest of the story unfold.  TCU and Texas A&M both made it past round one and both will be hosting super regionals and we are just so darn thrilled they are not playing one another!

Sleeping

Not enough this week!  I remember the days I could stay up past midnight and still get up at 5:30 each morning but that ship has sailed friends.  I did not sleep well over the weekend at the resort and now for two days I have stayed up well past my bedtime. Momma can’t hang anymore friends…..and honestly, I’m good with it!

Celebrating

Joining The Blended Blog girls!  This news + regional baseball has definitely contributed to the lack of sleep.  I’m just so humbled and excited to join the fun.

That’s all I got this week friends!  What are you waiting on this week?  Link up and share what is going on in your life!

  1. Your breakfast and lunch look delicious!! Hooray for leftovers and Hooray for you sweet friend!!! oh and Baseball!! Whoohoo!! Great week!!

  2. Hey sweets! I can’t stay up like I used to and roll out at 6 am anymore. It doesn’t bother me either! I am so happy for you on your new endeavor with TBB. Have a seriously fab day!

  3. I know what you mean about the sleep situation! As much as I want to squeeze every ounce out of Summer, stay up late, read, watch movies, man I am pooped and just have to get to bed. I need my sleep!
    Happy Hump Day Shelly!
    xoxo,
    Kellyann

  4. Would you believe that when I read drying I audibly said “oh crap”. So yeah, I am off to try and finally get the load out of the dryer. Wish me luck :P.

  5. Alise is having the same sleeping pattern, but she has to unload the dishwasher and fold clothes daily before I get home from work!. Win, Win!

    1. My kids have done a great job unloading the dishwasher….but holy hell the amount of their “stuff” that they just leave laying around all over the house. And I think they must pull out every single throw blanket every single day. And it’s not just them if I’m being honest…being gone two weekends in a row has definitely caused me to get behind picking up after my own self.

  6. Ugh I agree about the kids’ and my perspective being way off this summer. We bought them alarm clocks so they have to get themselves ready for swim team in the morning. I’m definitely waiting on swim team to be OVER!

  7. I used to be able to stay up so late and now… if I do, I’m dragging the next day. And NO ONE can drag too much when you have a 4.5 year old running things.

  8. I am a huge procrastinator with putting away laundry, so you aren’t alone on that front. It is positively ridiculous to find sugar is in practically everything. I pretty much do not buy anything prepared anymore, well, except for things the boys. Congrats on being invited to join The Blended Blog!

  9. Since joining WW in January, I am once again reminded of everything I choose to put into my body. Good choices and bad! Things I wouldn’t have thought twice about, I now do because of how high in points they are! Down 38 lb girlfriend! Only have about 15 more to my goal. Then comes the hard part…..so I guess I am waiting to reach my goal!

  10. You meals look so good. I am loving the group. I have never been able to run on minimal sleep very well. Sometimes I can get away with it, but usually I am a mess if I don’t get a good nights sleep. Ha! I have never been a night owl. 10 PM seems REALLY late for me. Congratulations on joining the Blended Blog!

  11. The price of Salmon has gone up so much, but it is so good for you and so delicious! I am recently getting back into the habit of having it at least once a week.
