Royally Waiting (Link-up #14) – Memorial Day Weekend

Welcome to the Royally Waiting link-up where Holly, Katy and I invite you to share what your waiting on this week!

We are anxiously waiting on the last of school!  The last week is always a little nuts with high school finals and schedules not the same.  Lunch accounts are empty and we are all just ready to be D-O-N-E.  We actually have two weeks “off” before events kick back off and we are planning to have some fun.

I love ending school just before Memorial Day weekend.  Since Keith & I both have Memorial Day off, this gives us a chance to kick off summer spending some QT with the kids.  This year we are heading to the coast for a little R&R, fishing and of course some Corpus Christi Hooks baseball.  I found a house just 2 miles from the beach and 3 miles from Schlitterbahn so we may do it all or we may sit on the deck and watch the sunrise and be lazy.  So, so, so looking forward to it!

Visiting

I headed to Frisco last weekend and spend some time catching up with my college bud Lisa.  I slept until 10 and had zero agenda other than heading to watch baseball each night.  It was amazing!  Sometimes I just need to get away from my entire family and recharge a little and this really was a nice break.

Eating

Tried out Twisted Root burgers while I was in Frisco.  The burgers are all some fun twist and I love, love they assign a celebrity name to you after you order.  It was a fun atmosphere and a great burger!

Treasuring

The chance to spend time with my kids one on one.  Last week I had my monthly date night with Jordan and then spent some time at the game chatting with Riley through the bullpen fence of all things.  So many times as they were growing up I worried they were going to stop wanting to spend time with me.  I hate being wrong but this is one time when I’m so, so glad that I was! They are both just so much more than I could have ever, ever hoped they would be.

Celebrating

The tale of two sets of best friends meeting up two years ago at a women’s conference while watching one of our favorite bloggers/writers, Melanie Shankle, speak.  We celebrated our friendaversary on Monday night with some wine and epic snake saving.

 Wearing

Gingham Top||Strappy Bralette (Similar)||Shorts||Sandals||Embroidered Clutch(Similar)||Earrings||Necklace||Fit Bit

I really cannot tell you guys how much I LOVE this combo!  I always struggle with button down tops because the medium fits well but doesn’t always want to button across the bust but moving up to a large is just too big everywhere else.  This strappy cami has been a game changer for me. My sister-in-law found several for me at a boutique but I’ve linked one very similar which comes in multiple colors.  I love the extra punch of fun it gives this outfit.  I grabbed the sandals during the BOGO 1/2 off sale at Target and I was pleasantly surprised at how much cuter they are in person and also the comfort level.  Pretty much in love with Target shoes right now!

  1. Your weekend away looks so good Shelly! That’s what I need, a weekend away with either just my husband or a friend! That strappy cami is great with the gingham check top, I actually feel the same way about the J.Crew Factory top, it just doesn’t fit me right. I gave mine away because I got frustrated but I should have done what you did. So smart. BTW, your lashes look amazing!!! Enjoy your Wednesday sweet friend!

    1. Oh these lashes. I seriously don’t know what to do with them girl. 🙂 I feel like I can’t get the mascara off now that they are so long and I’ve tried just about every remover there is. Thinking I need to get a non water proof mascara. First world problems!

  2. Your Memorial Day weekend is going to be amazing! I hope you have the best time with your family. We still have 11 days left of school and I need all those days to finish everything I need to, meanwhile my kiddos are tapped out! Hahaha! Enjoy your upcoming weekend. This was a great round up of what you have been up to. P.S. that burger and those pickles looks so yummy!

    1. Hang in there Jenna! I really cannot imagine how teachers must feel at this point. Carly came home yesterday telling me her math teacher has become really strict. Lol…I’m like probably because y’all are all bouncing off the wall acting like idiots!

  3. Where oh where did you find that adorable cami. I was all ready to hit the link and there wasn’t one.😩 I saw your “snake saving” story on insta…here was my thought. Why would you save a snake? LOL Not me sister. No way, no how, but you girls go for it😉👏🏼 Enjoy your time this weekend. I’m happy y’all are able to get away!

    1. Lol….believe me there was no way I was touching that snake. I don’t care how tiny they are I am freaked out by those boogers. My sister-in-law grabbed my cami from a local boutique and they are sold old. I went back and added an amazon link for a very similar one in a bunch of colors and very reasonably priced.

  4. I am in love with that strappy cami!! Where is it from? I’d love to add one to my closet asap!

    1. Laura this one came from a local boutique but I’ve gone back and added one that is very similar and very reasonable that I found on Amazon. It really has made a huge difference for me with a few tops. I love that it is more of a sports bra style instead of a full length cami. Those always ride up on me!

    1. I’m such a sucker for a good fried pickle! I totally forgot to mention here that was one of the restaurants “things”. They had huge jars of pickles to choose from and there were 6 different seasonings including a ranch pickle.

  5. So excited for you!! That outfit with the checked JCrew top is darling, the Strappy tank takes it to a whole different cute factor!

  6. Do tell what your celebrity name was! I completely failed at my resolution to do one-on-one dates with my kids- I need to step it up over the summer for sure. Have lots of fun in CC!

  7. You had me at burgers. What is it with your food photos that ALWAYS leaves me hungry?! So glad that you have all of your kids so close now. What a blessing.

  8. Thank you so much for doing the shopping for a similar strappy bralette to your sassy strapped cami. I have the same issue. I don’t really need larger sizes except for across my bust (and my butt, let’s not go there, though). This bralette will open all kinds of new possibilities to me with tops that are s t r e t c h e d too tight across my girls. Ordering!! And with Prime, I can start wearing it right away. Love your patriot outfit and Melanie Shankle and fried pickles and the idea of a restaurant that gives its customers celebrity nicknames. Good fun.
