Royally Waiting – (Link-up #11) – Recital Time

·

Welcome to Royally Waiting, a weekly link-up where my besties Holly, Katy and I share what we are currently waiting on among other happenings!  Feel free to join the fun and share what you are doing this week.

All year Carly has been working hard in her ballet and jazz class and we have been patiently waiting too see her perform at her year end recital!  Well, today’s the day and we can hardly wait.

Carly took dance for a couple of years when she was in preschool and then skipped a few years.  I should have never let her stop dancing as it’s obvious when she is on stage how much she loves it!  She has tried ballet, tap, jazz and hip hop.  This year we will be watching her perform both ballet and jazz.

Here is a little trip down memory lane!

Of course having your bestie along always makes dance more fun!

Eek…look at this precious little bit even though this costume was not the cutest.

She was on fire for year two and full of sass!

After two years of gymnastics she decided to give hip hop a try and it was so much fun, plus mom didn’t have to make a bun!

Besties back together on stage!

Last year she was back to ballet and also hip hop.

These two had changed so much last year and were really looking like grown up ballerinas.

Of course everyone knows a the fastest way to a dancers heart is the flowers!  My sister-in-law always wins the flower game.  Y’all, that is a puppy made of flowers!!

So, this momma has still not mastered the bun game but I have high hopes this year.  Last year we grabbed a Whirl-a-Style Bun Maker and I even watched this You Tube video but it was a complete failure.  Carly has super fine hair and not a terribly lot of it. Today when I stopped by the dance store to pick up new tights, the owner told me to be sure to actually use a hair band to put her hair in a pony tail first.  Wow!  One small little step added and we created the perfect bun in one step.  I may have to use it for myself!

So now it’s your turn to share!  What are you waiting on?

  1. Oh your beautiful baby girl!!! Went from a lil nugget to the most gracious and gorgeous girl!! So fun!!! I better get granddaughter someday, lol!!

  2. That puppy made of flowers is so precious! I’ve never seen anything like it, wow! How cute is your sweet Carly, what a great collection of recital photos. My niece danced for years and I logged many hours watching recitals, I loved seeing her progress every year, so special. Enjoy!

  3. Carly looks adorable! I am going to miss the big dance recital this year (Maddi chose to do sports this year instead of dance) and I am missing the hair and costumes. Thankfully we only had to curl her hair because I struggle with the bun as well! I can never get it right. How are some moms so good at the bun? I loved this post and the look back on all the dance recitals. Good luck Carly!

  4. Those flowers are adorable! I’m such a bad mom that I totally forgot to get flowers for Ari at her first dance recital- luckily her grandparents remembered! Have to add it to the list for the spring recital in a few weeks. I have zero hair skills- my poor kid! Who knows what her teachers think about her home life!

  5. I really want to get one of those for the pool this summer. I will be sure to remember the pony tail trick! Love all the flashback photos and goodness that puppy is adorable!

  6. Wait a minute…you weren’t putting her hair in a pony tail first? I feel like I completely failed you on this one!

Can’t wait to see them tonight!!!

    1. NOPE! This is why I do not do well with instruction sheets….even what comes in the box doesn’t show a rubber band + the you tube video I watched did not (and I looked again last night because I thought I just missed it). lol

      1. Girl – I’m so sorry! The hardest part for me is getting it into that smooth pony tail – the bun part is easy after that!

  7. Hey! My daughter sends me a puppy flower arrangement every birthday. Aren’t they THE cutest things? And speaking of cute, your little dancer is adorable. Isn’t watching our little ones on stage great fun? I had tears in my eyes the whole way through my granddaughter’s ballet recital. Priceless memory.
