Royally Waiting (Link-up #10) – What’s Up Wednesday

April has been an exciting month and the weather has been so enjoyable.  Everything is green and growing and we are as busy as ever but trying to soak it up.  Today I’m joining Holly, Katy as we host the Royally Waiting linkup and we would love for you to link up and help us bloom as well!  Since we are all about blooming and sharing the love, I am also joining ShayMel & Sheaffer for What’s Up Wednesday and Jessi and Jenn for What’s Hap-“Pinning” Wednesday.

What we are Eating

Still trying to work on clean eating!  This has pretty much been my breakfast, lunch and snack choice for the past few weeks in some form or fashion.  I really do best when I have something delicious but also tasty.  Our dinners have looked like this!

Pork Carnitas

Beef & Chicken Fajitas

Spaghetti Sauce with Zoodles

During my favorite time of the month (insert sarcasm) when my sweet tooth has been stronger I’ve been having one of my favorite snacks.  A few sliced strawberries, slivered almonds and a sprinkle of shredded coconut.

Reminiscing about

Seven years ago I took my mom along with me as I traveled to Nashville on business and we had so much fun!  My mom is like the biggest country music fan and this earned me major brownie points.  All our memories have been popping up on Timehop and I can’t believe I have not been back since.  Nashville is so much fun!

Loving

We finally updated our landscaping and I have been so happy pulling into the drive each day!  I wish these pictures could really do the job justice but just imagine it looks even more amazing in person.

What we’ve been up to

I shared our exciting news and a long weekend in Corpus Christi on Friday!

Dreading

Nothing at all!

Working on

Choosing paint colors!  This really doesn’t seem like it should be rocket science but so far every shade of grey I’ve slapped on the walls just isn’t working.  I chose a blue green for one bathroom and it wasn’t speaking to me either.  My house is pretty much a hodgepodge of paint colors at the moment but I’m determined to get it right as I plan for this to be a one and done for the next 10 years!

Excited About

The possibility of wallpapering our entry way!  The only wall left in our house with wallpaper is the long wall in our entryway.  My plan has always been to strip and paint but after seeing Astleigh using so many fun wallpapers lately I decided to give it a shot.  I ordered 3 samples which were currently 50% off so I figured it was worth a shot at .49 each!  I’m considering something fun in my laundry room too.  We shall see if I can find something the hubs and I can agree on before I chicken out!

Reading

Yesterday I shared my April review of the most recent 4 books I’ve finished and now I’m looking for a new batch for May!  Can’t wait to drill through the other posts today to see what I need to add to my list.

Wearing

This floral fix has probably been my favorite outfit in April!  I love the print and love even more being back into my favorite shorts!

Still loving the lavender jeans I received in my spring stitch fix and pastels are definitely not my norm. Dillon’s school colors are purple so I was able to sport them for some Cougar pride!  Layers have been my friend lately as I continue to work on losing a few more pounds and this kimono is perfect as it heats up.

More floral, I’m seeing a pattern here!  Old Navy has been killing it and this dress is one of my favorites.

Doing This Weekend

I am actually making a quick trip to Big D to attend the Young Men’s Service League National Conference. Serving along side Dillon has been so much fun this past year and I’m excited to learn more about this organization as we are only in the second year for our chapter.

Looking Forward to Next Month

May is always a busy month with so many fun activities!  We will have a field trip with Carly and also watch her dance in the spring recital.  Dillon will continue playing 7 on 7 baseball and we will catch some of Riley’s games live.

What Else is New

Our new couch finally arrived!  Now on to the waiting for the perfect rug and some fun pillows.  These chairs came from my Mamaw’s house and I’m hoping to decide on new fabric or leaving as is soon as well.  So excited to finally have a new couch!

Bonus:  Favorite Summer Shoe

So I already shared last week as part of the Target Finds but these thong sandals have definitely been my favorite new pair of summer shoes! These shoes are so comfy and for under $16 the price per wear is a win.  These gladiator sandals from Target are very similar to a pair I purchased last year and they are still in such great shape.  I’m considering ordering this pair as they are similar to a much more expensive pair I’ve had my eye on for the past two seasons.

  1. I love the new couch! I told Dustin that the next time we buy new furniture for the living room that I’m getting a sectional! I love how it allows for more seating without feeling like it’s taking up a lot of room…if that makes sense. And yes, Nashville is the best and I’m lucky to live a little less than 2 hours away! We love taking day trips up there!

    1. Our old layout was so inefficient Sarah! I suck at buying furniture and decorating because I just cannot envision how it’s going to look once it is in place. When the couch was delivered I seriously had a small panic attack worried it wasn’t going to work. Keith is much more spatial. You ARE lucky to live so close to Nashville! I really thought I would have made it back by now.

  2. I am in need of a refresh around our house! Love your new couch and landscaping. I wanted to plant some flowers but we have so many deer in our yard and they eat everything! And you are looking great in that floral dress from ON! Get it girl!

    1. I am not so patient Laura and often end up making a change impulsively and then being stuck with it a really long time. I’m trying to so hard to do my research and really be sold on the big things this time. Hope you are having a great week!

  3. YAY!!! Love the new couch. It really is SO similar to ours. That landscaping revamp looks fantastic too. I am SWOONING over that wall paper. What a fun idea friend. I have high hopes of putting up “shiplap” in my entryway at the new house. Love, love, love.

  4. Wallpaper = big ole yes! I have to have it in at least a small place somewhere so hubby agreed to the powder room off from the kitchen! That food looks so good and makes me regret my chick-fil-a cheat once a week (or so…hahaha) LOVE your outfits and the landscaping looks fabulous!

  5. I love your couch!! Your landscape looks great. We really need to work on ours but we have had rain every weekend so it makes it so hard to get yard work done. Have fun in Dallas this weekend.

  6. You know I love a Target sandal! I may add those in gold to my collection soon! Was that a BLT lettuce wrap in the top picture? That sounds like an awesome and easy lunch idea for my family!

  7. Love the new sofa!!! It is totally amazing what new landscaping will do for curb appeal and I always loved when we had new mulch. It looks so fresh!!! I’ve been toasting coconut and almonds and putting it on my smoothie bowls (with a few mini-chocolate chips just for good measure😉) Happy Wednesday!

  8. So much to comment on. Lovin’ your florals and a few I picked up this past week in San Antone! So glad you bought and fell in love with the kimono. Such a pretty look!
Yay for new couches. We have some new ones that look so much like yours. Wish I had some lovely chairs like the ones from your Mamaw’s house. That little sitting area is perfect! I would like a new rug for the den to go with our couches but the old rug works and the cats keep throwing up so need to hold off a bit.
Been wanting, no, I’ve been NEEDING to get back to clean eating but can’t seem to get motivated. Even with the fast approach of swimming suit season. My pants still fit – a miracle – so I keep eating!

  9. So many fun things going on, Shelly! Congrats on Riley’s big move. I know you are so proud. Your new sofa looks so great in your space. I am loving all the floral – I have been on a floral kick myself and I am not a floral gal.
