Reading Lately – June Book Review

There have been lots of books loaded to my Kindle since my last book review, so I thought it was a good time to share some of what I’ve been reading lately in case you are looking for some summer reading. The majority of the books I read come from the Houston Public Library. As a Texas resident it is free to use and so easy. I typically add books from other book reviews I’ve read and as soon as the book is ready to check out, I receive an email and with a few clicks the books is added to my kindle. It’s definitely helped me increase the number of books I’m reading as well as just always make sure I have something in the que.

Things We Hide From the Light #goodread #readinglately

Things We Hide from the Light is the 2nd in a series by Lucy Score. This is a free kindle unlimited read and the reason I grabbed it as I was in between books from my library hold list. These books are easy reads and entertaining enough. I would say an average of 3-3.5 stars with some steamy parts. You will either love the characters or be annoyed by them. As with the first book, I felt like there was a chapter or two that seemed to roll off course for no apparent reason. For a cheap or free download it’s worth a shot.

All My Knotted Up Life #goodread #readinglately

Suprisingly, I’ve not followed Beth Moore in the past but have always heard so much about her from others. I downloaded All My Knotted Up Life onto audible and gave this one a listen. The first couple of chapters were iffy to me but then I was all in. This is a raw and vulnerable memoir and if you already know and love her you definitely want to read it. If you don’t know and love her, I would guess by the end of the book you would. Definitely a 5 star for me.

Things You Save in a Fire #goodread #readinglately

Things You Save in a Fire is another freebie on Kindle Unlimited that I grabbed based on my friend Stephanie’s review. If you are not following her at The Bookish Boy Mom on instagram, you really should as she has such great reviews and suggested reads. Definitely a story of healing, learning to be vulnerable, forgiveness and love all wrapped into one. It was a page turner for me.

Brave Enough to be Broken #goodread #readinglately

Another book I listened to on audible this spring was Brave Enough to be Broken. I really need this one in print as well because there are just so many takeaways. Toni’s story is vulnerable and full of wisdom from all of the lessons learned.

Reef Road #goodread #readinglately

Reef Road started out as a page turner for me. I was invested and couldn’t put it down but at some point I felt the story line began to lose my interest and it took me forever to finally finish. I didn’t particulary love the ending but if you love true crime, this may be a good read for you.

Part of Your World

Abby Jimenez writes sweet little love stories and I loved this one! Part of Your World had me so invested in this relationship between Daniel and Alexis. Does she decide she can let him be part of her world? You’ll have to read to find out, but I definitely recommend you do!

I’ve read a couple of more but feel like this is long enough for my first post back in a hot minute. What are you reading that I need to add to my list?
