Random Recent Faves
It’s been a really hot minute since I’ve shared just a random selection of recent faves but I was just feeling it today and thought I’d throw a few out for ya today. While October is probably my very favorite month, September is definitely in the running. After a really hot summer, I really am hoping September delivers some fall teasers at least for a few days.
I love a good candle but I am also very sensitive to smells. When my frend Rachel shared this candle I knew I had to give it a try and it has been the perfect scent. It has a light but very homey smell and the container is so pretty. There are a few other scents in this same container if varying colors but I’m loving the Salted Honey scent.
If you are looking to spice up dinner with some soul filling mexican food, this carne guisada dish created by Fed & Fit is amazing. I made it for the 2nd time last night and we devoured it. While it does require some cook time for tender meat, it’s totally worth the wat! I doubled the recipe so we can have leftovers. I sign up for the weekly meal plan emails from Fed & Fit and have grabbed so many recipes of hers to try. Almost all have been wins for my family.
I know I already shared this new to me makeup as part of my What’s up Wednesday post last week, but I am serious when I tell you I’m in love with this makeup. While I didn’t purchase the set shown above, I did pick up the blush in soft peach, bronzer in seine and highligher in cava, along with the brush. They have several sets that can be bundled for a discount and I will defintiely be grabbing more products next time. Merit beauty made my makeup routine so quick and easy and I seriously have received compliments on my makeup which I’m not really sure has ever happened.
In the past few years as I transitioned from peri-menopause through menopause, sleep has become a top priority. Especially after my moms Alzheimers diagnosis and learning what a significant role sleep plays in our brain health, I wanted to insure a good nights sleep. While I did try hormone replacement therapy two different times and it did work to help me sleep, I didn’t want to stay on it forever. Magnesium is one of the supplements I added to help with sleep but it’s important to take the right kind as diffferent forms work for different things. Magnesium breakthrough is a new to me brand that contains 7 types of magnesium and not only has it helped with sleep but it has also helped me be more regular which is sometimes an issue with a high protein diet.
Hydration is always important, but if you haven’t heard about the brutal summer we have had in Texas, it’s definitely sucked. I struggle as it is to drink enough water so adding a supplement to one of my stanley cup chugs during the day really helps but I was not happy with how much sugar was in another brand I was trying. Re-lyte has been a great alternative and I’ve been using for about 6 months now. I also tried LMNT and loved the flavors but did not love the price (1.50 per serving) compared to about .60 per serving for the canister of re-lyte hydration.
Hope whatever you are doing this weekend you are finding some joy in the in betweens!
