The Queen’s Chronicles – Weekending at the Westin

We were able to get away for the weekend and spend some time relaxing with our besties while also packing in a little Corpus Christi Hooks baseball!  If you have a reason to head to the Frisco area near Dallas, I cannot say enough about this hotel and what it offers for the price.  Definitely a hidden gem!  While the Westin Stonebriar is definitely older, the property is still in very nice shape, the beds were comfortable and we had access to everything we needed.  While the pool is not a lazy river, it was a huge perk it was not at all crowded and our kids had so much space to play while we had plenty of space to enjoy our cocktail along the side in peace!  Service at the hotel was also tops.  After returning from a long Texas walk on Saturday morning, I was greeted by the doorman with a towel and a cold bottle of water as he opened the front door for me.  I’m not going to lie friends, never have I encountered such a kind gesture at a hotel.

So here is a quick look at our long weekend!

We started off by spending over 2 hours at the DMV but finally left with a learners permit!  So excited to begin the process of teaching this one to drive.

Keith and I celebrated our 16th anniversary with a quick dinner date which was somewhat of a flop food wise but definitely just what we needed to reconnect before heading off with this kids for the weekend.

Our first stop after checking into the hotel was Dr. Pepper Ballpark to see this kid.  If you are in Frisco, definitely head out to see a Frisco Roughriders game.  Friday nights there is a great firework show and who doesn’t love fireworks?!

I love when the stars align and we are able to see Riley called into the game.  It was a close one and I was beyond excited to be in attendance to see him log his first double A save!  The Corpus Christi paper ran an article last week, Ferrell finding success after returning from shoulder surgery…..so if you would love to hear this kid talk in person about his journey there is also a little video clip.  He really has worked so hard this year to rehab and get back to where he needs to be.  I know he is a little disappointed he is not further along but we are just so happy he has had an injury free season.

This crew….we may not be a family by blood but  you would not know it if you are with us in person.  I love how comfortable we all are with each other and the fact that all of these kids are unphased when I flip off in some crazy mom rant.  Friends are the family you choose!  So excited this McJanac clan was able to getaway for a little summer fun.

This totally cracked Holly and I up!  I mean!  When in the world did they get big enough to think they could “lay out”.

And who the heck are these men in our picture with the ripped abs?!!  Weren’t they just 4 like yesterday?!

Hanging at the pool is not necessarily this guys favorite but he was such a trooper and we had a great day.

One last swim on Sunday morning before we had to check out.  These two can really find fun just about anywhere!

Topgolf is also just about 5 miles from the hotel so we ended our visit playing a couple of games with Riley.  Who would have thought he’d end up being the shortest of the 3!  He’s so crazy and definitely provided some entertainment for the kids over the weekend while driving me nuts.  On Saturday night while he was at our hotel he was pouring water on them, pulling all the sheets off their bed and before he left he turned all our heaters on.  Good grief this child!

The roadtrip ended with these girls riding home with us.  I tried to talk them into sharing a cupcake but they insisted on two and I was astounded they not only finished the entire cupcake but in record speed!

We had a perfect little weekend!  Lots of ballpark food, fun in the sun and lots of laughs.  Maybe next year we can squeeze in an entire week at the beach!

Here are a few favorites in case you are in the Frisco area:

  1. No place I would rather be than on a road trip with you guys! There’s never a lack of entertainment and I always come back wondering why we waited so long since our last trip! Now, let’s get busy planning our next getaway!!!

  2. Your kids are adorable! And your getaway looks like a great time! I think we often forget as families and couples how nice it is to get away from our daily life/responsibilites. I need to practice what I preach though 🙂

    1. So nice to getaway both physically but also mentally Nicole. I am not good at down time when I’m at home so literally escaping is the only way I can disconnect. I didn’t open the computer all weekend (though sadly I still took it along :))

  3. Friends that are family are THE BEST!!! That’s just how we felt over the weekend. I imagine Keith was able to tough out the pool since he got to spend the day looking at his HOT wife in that bathing suit. It’s a tough job, but somebody’s got to do it 😉

  4. What a fun weekend! It’s hard being the mom of an athlete. I’m reminding Stephanie all the time to be thankful for her health and ability. So many great athletes never get the chance!
