The Queen’s Chronicles – Lazy River Weekend

Last week I shared a little teaser about a collaboration I was super excited about but could not quite share. Well, today you can hop on over to The Blended Blog and read all about it!  These ladies are some of the most supportive I’ve found in the blogging community.  They are positive, thoughtful and bright but also all very real and I’ve enjoyed interacting with most of them for the past few years.  I’m super excited to become part of the team.

Our weekend was lazy and relaxing and I barely even touched a computer or social media.  Read along with The Queen’s Chronicles and our lazy river weekend.

I did have to share this one quick picture from earlier in the week.  When we were on our way home from Corpus Christi the previous weekend we stopped and dropped Carly Jo off with my mom for a few days.  She was happy to have some pool time with her cousins no sooner than we drove out of the parking lot!

We headed to Lost Pines Hyatt Resort on Friday afternoon which is the perfect little getaway as it is a quick hour 1/2 drive from our house.  We have been several times in the past when I’ve been able to score a great deal but this time Keith had a work function so we tagged along.  Our day literally consisted of floating the lazy river, eating and sleeping.  The grounds are so pretty and great for exploring which we typically do but we literally just chilled this visit.  Carly and Dillon did a little bike riding while we were at our meeting but other than that we were really lazy.

Little miss is always up bright and early and we made it to the lazy river when there was zero traffic and scored our four chairs in a shady spot.  We ordered some new swimsuits for this girl but they haven’t arrived so she was stuck with last years from Justice.  I think it is perfectly adorable but Carly Jo thinks she has totally outgrown Justice.

We did a little shopping on Thursday night at Old Navy and I was super excited to grab this cover up!  Aren’t the colors fun?  I did not need a new one but couldn’t resist the price.

Lost Pines is definitely far enough away from town it is not easy to run to dinner off site.  The meals are fairly pricey so we typically take food for sandwiches and such to have in our rooms for at least one meal.  The rooms are all equipped with a mini fridge.  We decided to have a late breakfast at the buffet so we could hold off eating again until Keith’s work picnic that night and it worked out fine with the few snacks we brought along.  The omelet bar and these potatoes were tops!

We are lucky to have Jordan in town and willing to let Dutch Buddy come hang out with her and Pesto.  She posted this sweet picture of her with Pesto this weekend and I had to share.  I love how happy they both look together!  Dutch is totally worn out from his weekend with Sissy.

We have been missing our besties and since we all have another busy week we had to squeeze in just a little time together.  I love that Dillon even joined the girls fro a game of spoons.

I don’t think the girls were very impressed with Dillon at all and their squeals brought Dutch to the rescue.

We will only be home for dinner 3 nights this week so we cooked up enough meat to last a few days.  We also grilled some campfire potatoes for Keith and I roasted sprouts and sweet potatoes with a little turkey bacon to use this week mixed with spring mix for salads.  Eating clean is easy for me because I love veggies and meat and don’t miss the bread or pasta.  Lately though I’ve been partaking in my weakness of chips and hot sauce and sneaking in the cheese a little more than I should.  If you read about the healthy eating challenge on Friday, it will start tomorrow!  If you are interested in joining our Facebook group for a little accountability or just for some ideas or support please just send me an email and we will be happy to add you.

Wishing you all a super week!

  3. Oh so fun that you are a part of TBB team. Those ladies really know how to have a good time girl.

I am loving your cover up. I feel like I go into stores and completely walk by all of the super cute stuff. It is SO frustrating. I guess I just need to make myself try more things on.

    1. I think our ON sucks here. Even the little girls section is a toss up. I go lucky finding this cover up for sure and really scored big on two swimsuits for Dillon and shorts for Keith. Typically I only find good stuff online.

  4. Yay! Can’t wait to see you on The Blended Blog! Loved your Insta-stories this weekend- the company party looked so cute! You are so right about the cost of meals at resorts! We were looking into a weekend at Mo Ranch in Hunt with the kids, and while the lodging isn’t expensive, it would be over $150/day in meals! Crazy! Have a great weekend- I’m sure it’s hard to go back to work after lounging in that lazy river all weekend!

    1. Isn’t it crazy how much it can cost to get away even for just a weekend?!! I would love to take a big vacation with the family at Thanksgiving but goodness…..I can only imagine the cost of flying off somewhere. I took Jordan to a mother/daughter weekend in Hunt two years and it was so beautiful. Believe it or not….I woke up super rested and hit the gym, got the car inspected and had new registration tags in hand all before 8:30! It was even productive at the office…and NOW…I can’t sleep.

  5. Congrats on your newest collaboration! I’m so excited for you! We had a lazy weekend, too, but stayed home around the pool and cook shack for ours. Have a great Monday, Shelly!

    1. Thank you Laura! If we had a pool I don’t think I would ever want to leave! We have one more weekend away from home and then we are done traveling for a bit…..and this place needs some love! My garage looks like a resale shop at the moment.

  6. I am SO EXCITED for you and your new partnership with the girls over at The Blended Blog. You’ll be a great addition! Let me just say I’m totally jealous of your absolutely perfect, lazy river weekend. What I wouldn’t give for a weekend like that. I totally wish I”d seen that cover up a couple of week ago when I picked up the black one just like it. That print is ah-dorable!!! I made sweet potato fries last night in the oven with just a spritz of olive (from a misto bottle) oil and salt on them. Holy deliciousness!!! Have a great Monday!!!

    1. Thanks so much Lisa! I’m super excited and hopefully I can get my calendar all looking pretty and ready to go! I loved this cover up so much….it’s just the perfect fit. Love me some sweet potato fries…made some roasted sweet potatoes last night and can’t wait to toss them with a salad tomorrow.

  7. Chips and hot sauce=yum! Try cheese Doritos, lime juice, and Louisiana hot sauce. Oh, so good! Or the lime Lays with Louisiana.

  8. Oh, floating on a lazy river is the ultimate summer time experience. We all met up in New Braunfels two years ago and floated the Comal. Would love to do it again. Wish the Rio Grande was floatable then we could do it in our own backyard.

My BFF gave me that very same cover up! You wear it well, friend. XO
