The Queen’s Chronicles – Color{ful} Life
Spring is in full bloom here in Texas and driving is pretty much my favorite. Wild flowers are in full bloom along the Texas highways and it is such a beautiful site. We have been adding lots of color to our lives lately too with new foods to try, a few new items for the newly organized closet and lots of fun activities! Come along for an update to the Queen’s Chronicles!
Jordan and I had our monthly date night and headed out for some sushi. I was feeling so joyful and blessed after our visit and you may have read my social media post after but I’m sharing again here. When I was a 21 year old single college student with no real way to support myself, I also became a momma to this girl. There were definitely some who would have called my circumstance a mistake but this unplanned joy saved my life. My past has been far from story book perfect and even now, with a greater sense of who I am, I still fall short every day. I love the quote from Brene Brown “Grace means all your mistakes now serve a purpose instead of serving shame”. Don’t let the world define you by what is perceived as a mistake in your life! Because of grace you get to choose how your story plays out.
My friend Amy talked me into giving Lip Sense a try and I’ll try to post a review soon but, y’all, I’m still blown away it leaves no lip stain on my coffee mug!! I do love the color too. Plus, Amy was once a sweet little sales girl at local boutique and now she’s an even more adorable SAHM of 3 precious little ones so she’s hard to resist!
We also headed off for a weekend away with our besties and stopped in Waco on the way to Dallas. Little Miss thought this towel was hilarious and maybe just a tad true.
Anyone could learn more about being a good friend from hanging out with these two for a few days . It’s incredible how real they are with each other yet, also, just so accepting. I love that they have each other stored in their phone as “sister”.
Reunited for church and Chuy’s on the last day of spring break!
I just had to snap a picture of Carly Jo’s little outfit. She was pattern mixing like a pro! Plus, I’m still not 100% comfortable mixing brown with black but she totally rocked this look.
Finally, Holden’s birthday finally arrived and we celebrated at a favorite family hang out, Wings N More, with laughs and ice cream cake. #mcjanacs
Holly and I were super excited to meet up with Kim who has been such a sweet supporter of both of us since we became bloggers. She and her daughter came on a Texas roadtrip and we were thrilled they added College Station to the list!
Y’all, every single year this pops up on my Timehop and every single year I laugh so hard I almost cry! One year I added this scarf to Jordan’s Easter basket. One day she was redoing it at work and as she had it all unfolded her boss said “did you know there is a tiger on there?”. Y’all, I had no idea!! I mean WTH. So dang funny!
Ahhh….back to my favorite time of year and I finally got to see this one on the mound from the beginning of a game! I love watching him so much develop and grow. While he does remind me alot of Riley with his delivery, he is built so much differently and his build reminds me so much of my dad when he was young.
Dillon has also raided all of Riley’s TCU gear and sports purple cleats. How lucky was he to have school colors the same as TCU?! I laughed because my friend Katy said “I think his legs are as long as my entire body” and I think she’s right!
One thing you learn when you have boys who pitch and who are a bit wild, sometimes there has to be a little mound visit to get you back on track and to kill time because the kid you hit is having to walk it off. Yikes! Dillon pegged a kid right in the ankle bone.
These girls only missed seeing each other one day out of the past ten! Holden stayed with us Friday night and I made them pancakes Saturday morning which they devoured.
We headed to see Beauty and the Beast on Saturday afternoon and, friends, if you haven’t seen this movie make it a priority!! It was so darn good!! I was so filled with emotion the entire time. It was so beautiful and I headed straight home to download the soundtrack.
Kimono (similar)|Boyfriend Jeans (similar)|Clutch|Skirt(on sale)|Dress (on sale)
I made a pitstop into J. Crew Factory on my way to my hometown on Sunday. The 1st picture is my own outfit from home and I am so excited to start wearing this kimono. I picked it up at the beginning of fall from my friend Sandy at Burlap and Pearls and have already worn in twice this week! The striped clutch was a last minute addition and I’m kind of crazy about how it paired with floral. I debated the olive green skirt and probably will regret not snagging it. I mean the color is great and pockets! I did come home with the white dress. I was impressed with how much cuter it was off the hangar and the material was super soft which I wasn’t expecting. Thinking it may be my Easter dress with a few fun accessories.
She will kill me but I couldn’t not share this! My mom is having a little procedure this morning which required drinking a gallon of some nasty liquid. We decided it would be easier from a wine glass! I thought this was hilarious, her, not so much. Praying things go really smoothly for her this morning as she is super anxious and a teeny bit dramatic. I had to laugh because if we ever even insinuate that she is “old” she freaks out but she was quick to play the elderly card when it came to this being “too much” for her.
Now I’m off to hide in the closet and eat this sausage and egg frittata before she smells it!
Wishing you all a super week!

Fun post = fun life! Love the “attitude” towel. So perfectly humorous!
Carrie she is full of attitude…both good and sassy! I’m sure we will have some moments soon but for now I’m keeping her. 🙂
That kimono is GORGEOUS! I had to laugh at the comment on Dillon’s legs, haha ha! He is a tall guy for sure. It looks like y’all have been busy having loads of spring fun lately. It was good to catch up with you a bit.
I’m so glad I picked it up last fall….I think I’ve worn it 3 times in the past week! Hope you have a super week Beth.
Thank you for joining us!
It looks like y’all have had so fun lately! Jordan is just beautiful like her mama!!
And your sweet mama with the wine glass! Love it! praying all goes well!!
Thanks for hosting Heather! It has been so much fun watching Jordan grow more beautiful every year..inside and out.
Omg! Your mom and I think so much alike! Some things just taste better in a wine glass! Lol!
She’s a nut girl! It was a crazy sunday trying to get her to drink that stuff! She was definitely having a little panic moment with the “unknown” of what it was going to do.
Your mom with the wine glass is precious! I hope her procedure goes smoothly. Love all the family pictures. All the kids are getting so big, especially Dillon with his long legs! Hope you have a marvelous Monday!
All went perfectly and she was a happy camper when she finally got to have lunch!
Prayers for your Momma. And as always, I love stopping by your space. I have loved getting to know you more and more. Also… this is so wrong but your son… he is one good lookin’ kid. You are going to have your hands full.
Haha….you are so funny Stephanie! I do have to say I think he’s pretty good lookin’ myself. If you met him you would either continue to think so or decide he was ridiculous. He’s a lot to handle. Or if you are referring to the little one….he’s hard not to like immediately and gives the very best hugs. 🙂
Aww your mama, sending prayers it all goes well! So much goodness, I’m not sure where to begin except to say, WOW, you look good!! That pic of you with your coffee cup is so pretty and you look like Jordan’s sister!! I would have that frittata for lunch! I’ll bet Dillion is so fun to watch and gorgeous Kimono! Hope you have a great start to your week!!
Girl…I’m loving kimonos and any other layering tool right now while I try to get back into my clothes lol. Baby got back…and it won’t fit in my shorts!
I don’t think there’s any glass magic enough to make that liquid for your mama taste better. YUCK! Hoping the procedure is easier than she fears. Jordan’s little outfit is darling. She looks like a little Pinterest picture. I wanted those coffee mugs from SLAH and never got them, but I have 12 of the little dessert plates with that pattern that I love. I was in my J.Crew Factory Saturday and didn’t see that dress. 🙁 Super cute. Have a great week Shelly!!! (oh, and the frittata looks delish)
Well I’m jealous because I never ordered the plates! I loved this pattern. I use to sell SLAH and I miss it so much. FYI..frittata was easy and delicious! Of course so far I haven’t tried a thing in the Fed & Fit book that I haven’t loved.
HA! I used to sell it too! I’d just have parties at my house to earn hostess dollars and get free stuff. I’m so not a salesperson. I had quite the SLAH addiction for several years. 🙂
Oh goodness, drinking nasty stuff before a procedure sucks…hope things go smoothly today. And that picture of CarlyJo and Holden is just the cutest, framable picture I’ve ever seen! Love this whole post.
My mom did GREAT! I’m worn out but checking this off as a win!
Good to hear! 🙂
I need a graphic for your family. Like a family tree. I know I am kinda new to your blog and maybe I will soon be able to keep everyone straight but until then, could you give me a graphic?
Love this post. Love how it began. My ‘mistake’ or ah-oh baby has been such a gift. Not a mistake for one minute. That Brene Brown quote is so true.
What wonderful adventures you have enjoyed lately. I may not know everyone yet but sure enjoyed seeing these pictures. Thank you for being refreshingly honest and real!!
Haha Leslie…I know we get a little confusing! If you look under my about tab there is a family heading that will lead you through my Bigs and my Littles! I heard a talk at a women’s home fundraiser once and the speaker said “just because a woman has an unplanned pregnancy does not mean she cannot have unplanned joy” and it is so true!
OK that wine glass you’re having your sweet mom drink from is HILARIOUS! I’m gonna try that myself next time I have to drink something yucky!
She’s a trip girl! There was definitely some role reversal going on convincing her that she could drink the stuff and go through with her procedure!!
Toady I shared with so many of my friends about our fabulous trip to Texas and Tay and I both agreed that Magnolia Silos and CStat were our two top FAVORITES of the week! I wish I lived closer to you two ladies. I think you would let me be a part of your gang….right? 😉 Have a fabulous week, my friend! Oh and PS…..I lost 2 lb from that trip! Strawberry tart and wine didn’t knock me clear off my losing streak! 24.7 lbs lost (to not be found again I swear!) to date!!!
You could totally be part of our gang! You keep up the good work. I’m working hard and I feel so much better just eating healthy again…and I think I’ve finally gotten my mind right. It’s hard to get back on track when there is so far to go!
So much goodness in this post! I just ordered some Lipsense and I’m really excited to try it. Hope everything went well for your mom!
Lana I am loving it! And my lips feel so much more moisturized. My mom is super now that it’s all over!
