Welcome to the Queen Bees monthly linkup!
Katy and I are so glad you stopped by and we hope you will consider linking up a post, whether old or new, about a woman who inspires you. In this world where it is so easy to tear each other down let’s choose, as women, to lift each other up.
I have a super special treat for you today as I introduce a blogger who definitely brings something special to this world. Meet Kim of
Hunt and Host! Not only is she a beautiful momma to three adorable babies and a loving wife to a hunky husband but she has a creative eye for turning “junk” into something beautiful and functional. On the surface it will appear she is a huge DIY’er, and she is, but in addition to taking actual junk and creating something new, she also is interested in transforming the “junk” in her own heart and therefore helping you and me transform ours as well.
The very first post I ever read was one I actually found through a linkup party. In her post,
Goodbye My Dear Friend, Kim prepared a beautifully written and heartfelt memoir of her sweet dog Rusty. As a new dog mom I could not imagine and cried through the entire thing. As I neared the end of her post I was in total shock as she listed her vet….College Hills Vet. That meant she was right here in my town! I could not believe it and became obsessed with reading her blog.
I just couldn’t shake the feeling that I knew her as I read posts like
A House in Need or
Before and After. You see, while Kim and her family have performed a major restoration of a home, she also has been totally restored as she trusts Jesus with her whole heart. Post after post Kim takes other peoples “junk” and turns it into something to be used again and each and every time she ties her project back to scripture in a way that makes you really think.
She was such a great writer and story teller that I could hardly believe when I read her
Happy Birthday to Me post and found she had only been blogging since December 2014!! She was a newbie but she had fully trusted this leap into her own personal space to God and his direction and it showed.
Of course I started commenting and I continued to tell my friend
Holly that I just thought I recognized her and her kids but could not place it. Low and behold I was not crazy after all! This world is so small and Kim finally broke it to me that we had met on more than one occasion over the past 16 years. You see, Kim worked with my ex-husband during the time we were divorcing and she actually lived with a girl he dated after our split. Flash forward 12 years and we also share a common friend who has a daughter who happens to be besties with both of our daughters. I couldn’t believe it. How could all this goodness be right here so near to me and I didn’t even know.
Here are just a few of my favorite DIY projects she has created. I know they will leave you hungry for more!
Definitely have this deer on my radar as soon as I can decide which one!
Not a junker but convinced you want to be one? She has post like
this one that identify where she finds her treasures. You might even find a recipe or two like this yummy coconut cake
here.
Whether you are a DIYer or not, head on over to
Hunt and Host and give Kim a read. I promise you will leave feeling renewed and refreshed and it will leave you waiting for her next post!
I asked Kim to share a little about how she handles the “in betweens” in her life and her is here guide…soak it up!
In between is a really hard time for me. I am a type A, organized kind of girl. When I sit in limbo it gets scary and messy. I am learning to see the in between times as a source of joy and expectation. Like a kid at Christmas waiting to see what present is waiting under the tree. The reality is I wear down easy in those times with out a few things.
#1 prayer. If I am not constantly laying it down I pick it up and carry it around. That just stresses me out!!!
#2 the biggest and best thing I know to do is when you can’t do #1 anymore call in back up troops. I rely on dear friends to pray for me when I don’t know what to pray anymore, or when I just get tired of hearing myself!
#3 Live in today. We don’t know what tomorrow holds, so it’s best to just live in and enjoy your current circumstances as best you can!
#4 Shift focus. I try to work on things that I can get excited about that distract me from the in between spot at hand. This really works for me!
Such great advice! Now do you see why this is a girl right here that inspires me?!!! Kim, thank you for trusting God and taking that step on your birthday to start blogging. You make me want to be a better person.
Now it’s your turn! Do you have a woman in your life who has inspired you?
A little linkup etiquette:
We want you to post about women who inspire you so feel free to post old posts – new posts… it’s up to you! Please link to your specific post URL and not to your blog home page.
Please place a link back to this link-up in either your post or on your party page so that others can link up too.
Use the hashtag #beaqueenbee on other social media
We would love, love, love for you to follow us on some form of social media but it is not required.

I couldn't agree more – Kim inspires my home but she also inspires my heart!
Shelly, I've been getting to know Kim the past couple of months and following her on Instagram. Kim sparkles! Don't know a better way to put it. Thanks for sharing her this month and letting us see a glimpse inside her "in betweens" that make her just like the rest of us – imperfect and in need of a God who makes us feel brand new! Once again, thank you for the party.
"If I am not constantly laying it down I pick it up and carry it around." This.was.simply.amazing! I absolutely adore Kim and am so glad that our paths finally crossed. It's crazy to think we've lived so close for so long and just now met. I am so inspired by her and she definitely makes me want to be a better person. A beautiful post about a beautiful person!
She is precious….so glad this little blogging world has brought us all together.
Doesn't she? I still can't believe all this goodness is right here in my little town.
This is such a sweet post. Your admiration of your friend lept off the pages. What a beautiful testimony of friendship.
Thank you for sharing who inspires you, and inspiring us to be the kind of friend that builds up and encourages our own friends.
I seriously don't feel like I'm reading about myself here. Your words and thoughts are more kind than I can express. I am completely delighted that anything I do touches you or anyone. I sort of don't think anyone really reads what I put out, but just keep doing it because I feel like I'm supposed to. The fact that you actually like it makes it all worth it. I can't tell you how you filled my heart today. You are such a bright light and I am so grateful our paths have crossed and we share in this crazy love of blogging. Thank you thank you thank you dear friend!
I admire people with great DIY skills, maybe because I have none! lol
For real…I seriously was inspired to pick up an old baby bed off the side of the road after seeing one of her post (insert laughing until you pee your pants emoji here) and my husband just rolls his eyes.
You are precious, precious. I can't wait to get together!
Thank you Karen. She's pretty special and such an inspiration.
Noooo I missed it again. I love this and the meaning behind it! Now i'm going over to check out her blog 🙂
Busy girl…hope you have gotten some rest! We will be excited to have you whenever you are ready.
