Podcasts Favorites – Episodes I’m Loving

·

Are you a podcast fan? Five years ago I didn’t know a thing about them but now I’m pretty much a daily listener. I primarily listen to podcasts on the way to and from work, on walks and as I’m getting dressed for the day which tends to have me lean more towards interview type/self help podcasts on the regular. Today I’m sharing the podcasts I’m loving lately! If you have suggestions for podcasts which are more of a series, crime, mystery, etc, please shoot them my way as I’ll be in the car a ton this weekend!

So here are a few podcast favorites and episodes I’m loving! All bring some joy, hope, and connection to my week and I hope you will find something new you love as well.

That Sounds Fun Podcast with Annie F. Downs

Podcast Favorites - That Sounds Fun

I’ve been a fan of Annie’s for years after reading her book Looking for Lovely. Last year I followed her 100 Days to Brave devotional and it was such a comfort to me and lead me back to journaling. While I don’t listen to every single episode, she does have some great interviews that are always encouaging, inspirational and thought provoking. A few of my very faves include her interview with Lauren Daigle (like seriously if you struggled at all the last year it’s for you), Matthew McConaghey (more than just alright, alright, alright) and Kimberly Williams Paisley. I always feel uplifted after listening to her podcasts.

Podcast Favorites - Midlife Matters

It took me awhile to find the right episodes to listen to with Midlife Matters. I don’t know if I just wasn’t in the right frame of mind at first, if their voices were off for me or what but after listening to The Hards Parts of Life episode they drew me in and I’ve been a fan ever since. Some of my favorite episodes have been Grandparenting Then and Now, The Keys to Friendship (with guest Laura Tremaine), and What We Love and What We Miss which discusses parenting in midlife regarding things we love now vs things we miss from when our children were little.

This podcast feels more like a chat between friends on a topic with varying opinions from each of them.

Podcast Favorites - The Chalene Show

While I’ve never been a huge Chalene Johnson follower, I recently started following her on Instagram as she shares the view from a caretaker role of caring for her father in law who has Alzheimers. Since my mom was diagnosed I’ve realized there just are not that many resources out there to show you what it is really like, what to expect and how you might feel through the stages. She has several podcasts in which they talk about the journey including This Sh*t is Hard. She has also made it her mission to share tips on how to take steps NOW to improve the odds for you to prevent your own Alzheimers diagnosis or delay it to a later age in talks like Avoiding Alzheimers.

She has many, many other talks about a variety of topics but all, I feel, lead back to some sort of wellness whether that be physical or mental.

Podcast Favorites - The Christy Wright Show

The key for me is to find someone with a voice I love to listen to and Christy Wright has one of those. She’s confident and it comes through but she also seems like someone I could be friends with. Especially if you are a woman in business for yourself, Christy always has some great advice.

Podcast Favorites - 10 Things to Tell You

After I read, Share Your Stuff I’ll Go First written by Laura, I headed over to her podcast. Her discussions are real and honest and all about accepting yourself and others while building connection. She often throws out a podcast with 10 things on a topic and then she goes first. In March I shared 10 Questions: One Year in a Pandemic with my own answers. Her most recent is 10 Questions for a Successful Summer which would definitely be fun to play along and answer yourself.

Hope you find something new to listen to here!

For the first time in my 29 years we have a four day weekend from work! I’d like to say I’m going on some fun getaway or knocking out some home projects but instead I’m embarking on a 20 hour roadtrip with my youngest son. It was only 5 years ago when I took a similar roadtrip with my oldest from California back to Texas and this time we will be heading to Virginia. So for real, if you have suggestions for a good podcasts to listen to with others that may be a series shoot that my way!
