Podcasts I’m Loving – Five on Friday
Happy Friday! This week has been a little chaotic and I’m waking up this morning to a disheveled house and so many thoughts bouncing around in my mind. Our last room, the master bedroom, was painted this week which of course means the room was emptied. I do not want to move anything back unless I’m 100% sure it will stay which is great. However, this means all the “stuff” is in our front room piled up in an unorganized bunch. This kind of chaos is so hard for me when I know there is no time in the foreseeable future to tackle it all so there has been a lot of talking myself down the last couple of days!
One thing I’ve tried to stay focused on is moving every single day as it really does help my ability to keep anxiety at bay. Typically this would include several trips to the gym but his week instead has included several long walks to ramp up my steps. My favorite thing to do on walks is listen to podcasts and I thought today I’d share a few I’m loving lately!
DAIS Podcast with Rachel Hollis
Are you guys sick of me talking about Rachel Hollis yet? Well y’all might want to settle in because not only do I love her book Girl, Wash Your Face and listening to her podcast, she is moving to Texas y’all! I may be secretly planning a way to become her real life friend. In all seriousness, though, she is so easy to listen to and brings quality interviews.
Her latest I listened to last night with Curt Steinhorst. Oddly enough when I heard his name I really thought it was familiar…and that’s because I actually heard him speak in person two years ago at a conference! He has a new book, Can I Have Your Attention?, which I’m positive I will be grabbing soon. In this podcast he and Rach (working on real life friend!) discuss the ins and outs of being distracted in the work and life. Lots of good info if you are a little all over the place like me!
The News Worth with Erica Mandy
If you have been around here any time at all you are aware I’m not a fan of the news. I do, however, realize I should be keeping up with current events and after a coworker suggested this podcast I feel a little more in the know. It’s fair and fast (10 minutes) and in the short drive to work I have caught up on things going on around the world. If I want more info I can then dig deeper. Erica has a great voice and is easy to listen to.
The Happy Hour with Jamie Ivey
You have heard me mention this one before but Jamie quickly became a favorite earlier this year for me. I don’t always catch up with her latest episodes because they are usually almost an hour long but they definitely work well when I head for a long walk. The latest I listened to this week was an interview with Christine Caine. I have seen many not so pretty moments in my life and so much shame which held me back. Hearing someone who has been through serious abuse but lived to share and use her journey to help other women was so inspiring. Christine says “God never wastes a hurt. He will use your past and your shame to help others.”.
Wall Street Journal – Secrets of Wealthy Women
I found this podcast after Samantha Ponder mentioned on her insta-stories. If you don’t follow Sam, well she’s beautiful, smart, and pretty incredible herself. I’ve only listened to two of these but they really do focus on women finding wealth not only financially. In the interview with Gloria Steinem she was asked what she thought of the saying treat others as you treat yourself. She said “sounds like it was written by a man. Women need to treat ourselves as we would treat others and VALUE ourselves as we would value others”. So good!
Going Scared with Jessica Honegger
If you are in a place where you feel it’s time to make a move or do something bigger in your life but fear is holding you back, Jessica’s podcast is for you! I loved her interview with Michelle McKinney, a self defined dream architect. Michelle wanted to help women unleash their dreams and was lucky enough to have a friend say to her “girl, if you want to help unleash other women you must first unleash yourself!”. Yes, girl, yes!
So those are 5 podcasts I’m loving right now! I listen mostly in the car or with my favorite Wireless Bluetooth Headphones which are under $25. And I really, really wanted to share these with you so much it took me typing this post twice! Ahh…the joys of technology and realizing you are no longer logged in after your post is completely written!!
Are you on the podcast train yet? I’d love to know what you are loving!
Also….curious what you are hoping for on Mother’s Day! Typically time with my kids is the biggest gift to me but this year I bought myself a pair of Tory Burch Miller Sandals to reward myself for surviving another year. If you love them but not the pricetag, this pair is currently 33% off. Still not cheap but if you were wanting them anyway!!
