The Queen’s Chronicles

Very thankful to have received my new Macbook on Friday….now I’m praying my IT friend can do his magic and back all my pictures up.  Thankfully I have a big portion backed up but for some dumb reason I have not backed up in a really long time and when the spinning wheel of death showed up the pit in my stomach was also spinning.  Lesson learned!  On a positive note the new computer is AWE-some!!  I didn’t realize how slow my old Mac had gotten until this sucker arrived.
We had a weekend packed with so much fun!  We got the party started attending a Gingerbread House making party my friend Holly coordinated.  This chick never ceases to amaze me with these little parties as she leaves nothing uncovered and always has the best ideas.  Did you know it’s much easier to go ahead and assemble the gingerbread house with a glue gun?  Yes mam….lots less drama! These girls did a great job on their houses and it was fun seeing how differently they all turned out.

Next stop was a Christmas Party hosted by one of my very dearest friends.  They served chili, potato soup and tortilla soup and everything looked so darn good.  What I wouldn’t give to eat some of that today post race!  I literally brought my own pasta and mixed it with a little chicken tortilla soup.  Resisting the spinach dip was not an option and I enjoyed that along with taste testing a few sweet treats.  It was a casual dress party but and I loved my easy to pull together outfit. Carly and I both added some fancy shoes for good measure.

I have been friends with this girl for almost 21 years!  We have seen each other struggle through parenting and marriage and career choices and she has been somewhat of a spiritual leader for me.  She is a gem and I don’t know what I’d do without her!
Always love going out with this guy even if we did have one kid in tow.
Dillon was off with his friend Colby at Six Flags celebrating Colby’s 13th birthday.  How cool is that….turning 13 on 12-13-14!!  What a crew!
Saturday night I finished my playlist and laid out my clothes for the big race!  I will save all the details for another blog post but I did finish and felt great the entire race.  I am never going to set any speed records but I am very happy with my 3rd half.  The first two I ran in 2012 and I was plagued with injuries during my training and it was a battle to finish both.  This was so much better and I really just enjoyed it the entire 13.1 miles.  This beer tasted so darn good!
After a big power nap I met up with my friend Holly for a #lightemup act of kindness.  If you are looking for ways to let your light shine this holiday season, visit Courtney Defeo’s Blog for some great ideas.  I really just can’t explain how much joy you can feel from giving back to others.  The blessing always comes back to me ten fold to see the unexpected happiness on someone else’s face.  We traveled to the A&M campus and hit the 3rd floor of the Evans Library to pass out bubble gum to students studying for finals.  The girls especially get into this as they hand each a card and 2 pieces of gum while encouraging the students to Blow Away Finals.   So simple and so much fun to see the smiles on these students faces!
It was such a super fun weekend!  Lots of smiles all around.  We are now on to the last 5 days of school and work before the holidays and I can..not..wait!  So ready for my college boy to be home and to have all my babies around for awhile.

  1. L-O-V-E that we were together so much this weekend! The gingerbread party was fun, the boys had a blast at Six Flags but the highlight was definitely watching the kids pass out gum last night. Crazy to think how much happiness a couple of pieces of gum can bring some one! Truly shows that it's the little things! Thank you for sharing life with me! Love you!
