The Queen’s Chronicles – Friends, Family, Football and Food!

It was a really cold week in Texas and it was fun pulling out some clothes I haven’t worn in awhile!

I spent Monday and Tuesday trying to get my kitchen and bathrooms back in order from the cabinet painting (which looks so great by the way) and it was so nice having fresh shelf paper and everything all organized and pretty!

Dillon’s basketball tryouts concluded on Monday and he was excited to find out he made the team.  I’m really glad he is trying out multiple sports as I’m a firm believer that keeping kids active keeps them from finding trouble.  Plus I love watching him play!

Fall baseball is winding down at TCU and I cannot wait for this boy to be home at Thanksgiving!  I love that his sweet girlfriend sends me pics of them each week so I feel like I’m still in touch. Aren’t they the cutest?

Wednesday the kids had an early release day from school and Carly woke up not feeling so great so I let her stay home and we went for a doctors visit.  Loved this outfit she put together herself. She is so in between right now so finding clothes has been a bit of a challenge lately.

My running really took a backseat this week and I only got one 4 miler in during the week.  I keep seeing runners post about the perfect running weather but I am just a big wuss when it comes to the cold.  Perfect for me is 45-50 degrees and getting up in the dark when my phone read “feels like 22” was really not in my forecast.

I think the cold had everyone worn out by Friday night and I found these two snuggled up on the couch! Sweetness!

Saturday morning I did manage to roll out of bed and meet my friend Elizabeth for an 8 mile run.  Thank goodness for accountability partners or I would never have gotten this far with training.  The first 5 miles were awesome and I was beginning to believe all the real runners and the hype about the cool temps….and then we turned the corner and were slammed in the face with wind the last 3 miles.  All I can say is we made it and it was checked off my list.

My friend Kaki came in for a visit from Bentonville, Arkansas for the Aggie game so there was lots of catching up to do on Saturday.  We started off the day with mimosas and a visit with my sweet friend Lallah.

We headed to campus for some tailgating and enjoyed catching up with more friends before heading to the game.

Unfortunately it started raining off and on about game time and we made it until midway through the 3rd quarter before deciding to call it good and get somewhere warm to watch the finish.

Sunday we hosted my mother-in-law for her birthday along with Keith’s sister Amy and his two aunts. Keith grilled bacon wrapped filets, chicken and his campfire potatoes and I added a broccoli rice and cheese casserole.  Total comfort food!

We had lots of goodies for dessert…..and let me just say….cake balls are the devil!  I love them so much and these were amazing! Buttered pecan, chocolate chip cookie dough and funfetti…..oh my goodness!

My mother-in-law truly has a heart of gold and she does so much for us.  Carly insisted on having her favorite flowers for her!  And as you can see even Dutch Buddy knows she’s full of love!

Sunday night I was dropping Dillon off for youth group at church and his best friend Colby came sprinting out to meet him.  I love watching the boys grow up into little men.  They are so adorable and full of life right now and I love it.  I made them take a selfie for me….and thankfully they will still take direction.

I ran to make a few returns and try to grab a few more warm clothes for Carly.  I was wearing lots of layers and my choice for dress this time of year…especially on days full of yummy food.

I picked up this sweater for Carly thinking it would go perfectly with her leopard print leggings.  I wish I had a picture of her face!  She definitely has her own style and mine is typically NOT it.  I told her I thought the sweater was cute and she replied “uh..no..maybe if I was going to an ugly sweater party”.  She’s 9 people!!  So, sorry Dillards…this sweater is not hip!

Looking forward to a rather calm week as we gear up for Thanksgiving!
