The Queen’s Chronicles – Football and Weddings and Home Renovations Oh My!

· ·
Our week started with Dillon’s last football game of the season played against the rival middle school and his best buddy.  These two have been friends since birth and it has been so fun to watch them grow and remain close.  It was a tough loss for CSMS but after the game I was so proud to see both teams come together in the middle of the field and pray together.  They broke out of the huddle with “Brothers” instead of chanting their individual team saying.  How blessed I feel that Dillon is surrounded by men that are not afraid to share their faith.
And these two football sisters have also been friends since day one.  I’m not sure they actually watch much but I know they both love supporting their big brothers even if it just means being there and looking cute!
Tuesday I exercised my right to vote!
Wednesday we were lucky enough to get a nice long day of rain!  Unfortunately my scheduled run did not happen but I did get to wear my Hunter boots and that always makes the day a little brighter!
Due to the rain Dillon’s regular baseball practice was cancelled so the kids whipped up some brownies to share with some sweet neighbors.  Hard to tell who is supervising who!
We really had a slower than usual pace this week which was so nice.  Sometimes the rain comes just in time to give us all a little break from the normal hectic schedule and we are able to spend some time just hanging out and enjoying each other.  Thursday was a very chill night at home and I feel like we have all had lots of rest this week.
Our poor puppy Dutch Buddy had mange so we have been having to give him some super strong and yucky medicine the past couple of weeks.  After I give him the meds he gets to have some peanut butter which is Carly’s job.  She has been such a good little momma to Dutch.
Friday morning I was a little disappointed to see there was no coffee ready and thought the hubs had just been in a hurry.  Nope…coffee pot broke!  Thankfully McDonalds actually had any size $1 coffee AND thanks to a little 15 second video I found I finally figured out how to wear my Zara scarf!
And THEN as if my Friday could not get any better, Keith and I had an unexpected dinner date for sushi!
Saturday morning the boys were up early to go hunting and I had a race with my running buddy Elizabeth.  I kicked butt the first 6 miles and then hit a wall for the last 4.  Should never have decided to stop and walk for a bit and stayed with my running buddy.  Oh well….I finished…and it was still a respectable time for me for sure.  Room for improvement the next 5 weeks as we continue to train for the 1/2 in December.
And the best part of finishing a race is beer before noon…heck I don’t even think it was 9!  This definitely has to be the full meaning of getting a buzz!  Thankfully I’m not afraid of bugs and this did not prevent me from enjoying my beer.
Our sweet friend Ivonne and her daughter Katy made signs to cheer us on.  We are hoping Ivonne is back on the road with us soon!!
What?  Another date two days in a row?  Yep…me and my love enjoyed an evening at a beautiful wedding.  I don’t know about you but all that love in the air and dancing just makes for a perfect date night to me.  I had so much fun just being Keith’s wife for bit and remembering how much fun we always had on the dance floor.
My beautiful daughter was a bridesmaid so we also enjoyed spending some time with her and seeing her having so much fun.  She and the bride have been friends since 2nd grade and oh my goodness Jamie looked amazing!
Sunday…well…I’m getting the heck out of the house and going to watch some baseball.  It’s a beautiful day and this is going on inside my house which is a great excuse to leave!  We updated the kitchen 7 years ago by removing the wallpaper, adding granite and all new appliances but I’m guessing at that point I was short funds and decided I would paint the cabinets myself….you know…in my free time.  I finally bit the bullet and hired someone to paint for me and I”m thrilled but wondering how many days I can survive like this!
It was such a gorgeous day in Texas and we spent the afternoon watching baseball.  This was the last tournament of the fall season and the Twelve won it all.  Dillon pitched the last 3 innings of the championship game to close out the win.  Super proud as these boys fought back despite being down 4-0 in the first game and ended up winning.  So proud of these boys.
Looking forward to a great week and some cooler weather on the way!  Hopefully the rain will hold off for the Aggie game.

  2. Wow, what a great week!! Enjoyed reading a bit about your family and we love some baseball here too. Though my son is just 6!:) Hoping he plays for many years to come as all my brothers did. Congrats on the kitchen! I live in the middle of home Reno so I totally understood the need to escape.
