October Goals

Last month I shared my September Goals as part of the Blog-tember challenge and I really did love writing those down and trying to stay focused.  Here is a quick look at how I measured up!

Checked off!
Weekly meal plan and one trip to the grocery store
Plan work outfits for the week on Sunday (huge timesaver)
Paint Carly’s room
Complete the Blog-tember challenge!
Going to the grocery store is a huge time waster for me and so many weeks I end up going for “one more thing” multiple times during the week.  Writing this down really made me plan harder and actually remember to take my list with me.  I’m getting to work a little earlier in order to leave early each day so any way I can gain a few extra minutes in the morning is huge and not having to worry about my outfits has really saved me time.  I first wrote about painting Carly’s room in April and it’s finally complete!  And the blog-tember challenge?  Well let’s just say I will be marking my calendar and joining the fun again next year!
Room for Improvement!
Log some sort of fitness at least 4 times a week
Complete 2 books
Decorate the house for fall
Time Management
While I did make it back to the gym after skipping all of August, 3 days was tops for me.  I finally completed The Royal We but that took the entire month!  Two tiny pumpkins, a happy fall sign and some candy corn is as far as I’ve gotten decorating for fall.  Ahh…and time management…well having four weekends uncommitted has definitely helped me knock out some projects around the house but I am still wasting too much time on social media!

October is a month filled with so much celebrating so I’m going to keep it simple and try to continue tweaking a few things leading into the holiday season!
1.  Track Important Habits in Bullet Journal – I honestly just need to be accountable to myself and so far having a daily list of habits and a fun chart I can color in has helped.  The things I struggle with I added to the daily tracker; washing my face each night, praying, devotional time, drinking 64oz water each day and logging 7K steps daily.  I fully expect the tracker to grow in items as I get the hang of it.
2.  Blog four times per week – This has been my average over the past 6 months but I have not always been intentional about the planning.  Leading up to the holiday season I really need to plan better and be a little more intentional with my post.
3.  Healthy Living – Hit the gym 3 times each week!  Log all food, good and bad, in food log and drink lots of water.  Find a way to meet a minimum of 7K steps each day.
4.  Date nights! – We have really let our date nights slide and we definitely need a few date nights before deer season begins!
5.  Take family pictures!

The weather cooled down here this weekend and I’m hoping it sticks around for a bit!  Time to really enjoy October and all this sweet month has to offer.

What are you looking forward to this month?

  1. Social media is a huge time suck right?! I tend to really unplug from it on the weekends and it really helps me to chill out a bit and get a breather. Probably not best for growing my accounts but really that should be the least of my concern right?! I think you did great last month.

  2. I'm not a blogger but I did finally deactivate my facebook last month. Omg what a time sucker! I really try to not be on it all the time but I'd sit down at 2pm and before I know it, it's time to start dinner and it's 5pm! Crazy! I miss some aspects of it but decided that maybe I'll go back after the holidays and really cut my news feed down! Also, I ordered the new series 2 Apple Watch and I'm hoping that will help me get more active! I've put on about 20lb this past year and I'm so mad at myself– I cut back on the gym all summer and it shows. So for October my goals are to get back to moving my body and getting in my 10k steps a day and drinking my water, and remaining off facebook! We got this girl!

  3. Great job on your goals! You have made me want to start setting out my clothes on the weekend, too. It really is amazing how much a small thing like that can make a difference!

  4. I really was amazed at the time it saved me. Some days I got to work and realized I had not even looked at my whole outfit in the mirror before leaving! Typically I was back and forth from mirror to closet changing shoes or accessories or sometimes the entire outfit!! Happy Tuesday Emily!

  5. I may be the only one saying Yay for family pictures!! haha But my family knows how important it is to me so they typically cooperate. Dillon has just changed so much since we took pictures two years ago and I really need some new pictures.

  6. Good job on your goals! I have also been working on meal planning. My goal has been to just go to the grocery store once a week, and it has been wonderful. I think it saves so much money to stay out of the store, instead of popping in every time something comes to mind. And I have come to the realization that FB is such a big time-zapper. Very few people I know are still posting many pictures there anymore, so I end up scrolling through news stories and ads. I have been mostly off of it for the past few weeks, and notice a big difference in my time/efficiency. I'd much rather look at IG or blogs anyway. I figure if I give myself a quick look at FB every few days or once a week, I won't miss any big news from people I actually know in real life. Have a great day!
